Lynden KOA

Overview

Nestled in the heart of Whatcom County’s lush farmland, the Lynden KOA Journey offers a tranquil retreat for travelers exploring the Pacific Northwest. This park spans 10 scenic acres and provides a classic camping atmosphere characterized by tall trees and open green spaces. Unlike more urban RV parks, this location prioritizes a connection to nature, offering a peaceful environment where the sounds of the countryside replace the hum of highway traffic.

Location & Surroundings

Located just south of the Canadian border, the park is situated in the picturesque town of Lynden, Washington. The surrounding area is famous for its vibrant raspberry fields and Dutch heritage, which is visible in the local architecture. Travelers can enjoy sweeping views of the North Cascades and the iconic Mount Baker on clear days. The park serves as an ideal basecamp for those transitioning between the United States and British Columbia, providing a convenient border-crossing stop.

Amenities & Park Features

The amenities at this park are designed for both relaxation and recreation. Guests can enjoy a private fishing pond that requires no license, making it a favorite for casual anglers. The park features a seasonal heated outdoor pool, an 18-hole mini-golf course, and a well-maintained playground for younger visitors. Practical needs are met with spacious pull-thru sites, full hookups, and high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuring a comfortable stay whether you are in a large motorhome or a vintage travel trailer.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outside the park gates, the opportunities for exploration are endless. The historic downtown Lynden area offers charming shops, local bakeries, and the Lynden Pioneer Museum. Adventure seekers are only an hour away from the rugged trails of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, which is perfect for hiking and photography. During the summer months, visitors can attend the Northwest Washington Fair or visit local U-pick farms to sample the region’s world-famous berries.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is exceptionally suited for families seeking a traditional camping experience with plenty of activities for children. It is also an excellent choice for international RV travelers looking for a quiet night before or after crossing the border. If you prefer a relaxed farm-country vibe over the hustle of the city, the Lynden KOA provides the quietude and space necessary for a rejuvenating stay in the Evergreen State.

This is a very nice KOA. They have a swimming pool, a small pond with battle boats for rent, mini golf, a playground, and basketball hoop. They have clean bath houses with showers . There are tent sites, RV sites and small cabins. Check in was quick and easy with friendly staff.

This place is off the hook. No kidding I'm serious it's got a beautiful Lake beautiful trees they have the nicest pull through patio sites I've ever been at. It's a family-oriented part because of the Lake boating fishing etc. it's just beautiful and the staff was wonderful. They have a great game room with a cafe that serves ice cream shakes coffee and food with patio tables right at the lake. I highly recommend and will be back it was our first time but not our last.

My husband and I stayed a little over a week and while the campground itself was beautiful with clean bathrooms and well kept grounds the staff left a lot to be desired There was one young woman in the office short heavier set with brown hair and glasses who clearly didn’t want to be there She was almost always on her phone either behind the desk or laying on the couch. many times the office door was shut and she was nowhere in sight and when she was there she never said hello or even smiled Her face was blank and her voice was flat like I was bothering her just for walking in What really surprised me is she wasn’t even in a KOA uniform No yellow shirt no logo no name tag nothing Just regular clothes like she was off the clock Meanwhile every other KOA I’ve been to over the years the staff are always dressed properly and greet you with a smile and a welcome I did meet two taller staff members who were friendly and warm so it’s not all bad but that one girl was around the most and made the place feel cold and uninviting Also had a small issue with a young man working outside who acted unprofessional but I addressed that with the office The campground itself is probably the best maintained KOA I’ve stayed at but that doesn’t mean much when the staff makes you feel unwelcome I’m a social person and enjoy chatting with folks but this place just didn’t have that KOA spirit I’ve known for decades I’ve seen the staff make a big difference and this one young woman really brought the experience down for us Wouldn’t recommend unless they make some changes in the front office

We brought our six grandchildren for a summer trip in our trailer. What a lovely place! We took lots of peaceful walks, they rode their bikes daily, and had lots of fun in the pool and playing mini golf. We will go out on the lake in the paddle boats later today. They want to come back next year!

Neighbour's are friendly and cute. This KOA is very clean, staff helpful and friendly. Our 3 yo really enjoyed the open field in front of our RV site. Lots of different activities in the playground area. We booked for 4 nights and ended up staying for 7. I can't comment on the cabins as we didn't stay in one, but they look cute from the outside. A much needed vacation for us and will definitely be back !!!

We spent about nine weeks here while our house was being finished. The people are very nice and the campground is kept very clean. There seems to lots to do for the kids during the summer. I would highly recommend this KOA.
