Overview

Meramec Springs Country Store & RV Park serves as a peaceful gateway for travelers exploring the scenic beauty of the Missouri Ozarks. Situated just outside the city of St. James, this destination offers a unique blend of a functional RV campground and a charming retail hub. Travelers often stop here to experience the rustic hospitality and the convenience of having essential supplies right on-site. It provides a relaxed atmosphere that mirrors the slow-paced, natural rhythm of the surrounding countryside.

Location & Surroundings

The park is strategically located near the intersection of Highway 8 and Route 66, making it an accessible stop for those traversing the state. The surroundings are defined by the rolling hills of the Ozark Highlands, offering a backdrop of lush greenery and mature trees. Because it is positioned away from the heavy noise of the main interstate, guests can enjoy a quieter environment while still being within a short drive of essential town services in St. James.

Accommodations include a variety of sites equipped with full hookups, including 30 and 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. The park features a mix of pull-thru and back-in sites designed to host diverse rig sizes. One of the standout features is the on-site Country Store, which provides everything from RV hardware and propane to local jams, hand-dipped ice cream, and specialty gifts, ensuring travelers have everything they need for a comfortable stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for many visitors is the proximity to Maramec Spring Park, which is famous for its world-class trout fishing and historic ironworks ruins. Nature enthusiasts can spend their days hiking or birdwatching in the spring area. Additionally, the region is known as the Forest City of the Ozarks, featuring several award-winning local wineries and vineyards that offer tastings and tours, providing a perfect afternoon activity for those seeking a taste of Missouri’s agricultural heritage.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for avid anglers who want quick access to some of the best spring-fed fishing in the Midwest. It also appeals to wine lovers and road trippers looking for a quiet, reliable home base while exploring the local culture of the Ozarks. Because of the well-stocked store and straightforward site layouts, it is a great fit for independent RVers who value convenience and a friendly, small-town atmosphere during their travels.

We're currently staying here and it has been absolutely wonderful! The owners are so nice and really have worked hard on so many improvements. The swimming pool is so nice and clean and well maintained. The laundry room is nice and cool when you need to wash some clothing! The shower houses are so nice and clean! I love that we are only 5 mins from Meramec Springs and 5 minutes from town and a gas station to fill up and exchange propane tanks if needed. The dog walk is great and shaded. They have nice picnic tables and fire pits! I'm extremely impressed with whole family friendly environment they have created here! I would highly recommend this as your next family camping trip!

Quiet, clean and hospitable park. Mature trees, level lots, country store and great hosts, Tom & Jean. The host Tom went out of his way to help us with a hitch problem helping us by bringing tools and working on it with us. Meremac Springs is just a couple miles away with a beautiful spring, fish hatchery, fishing, and historic iron artifacts. Privately owned so they do charge a $5.00 car fee but well worth it. We will definitely come back on this way again! Tim & Vicki Wilson
