Metamora-Hadley State Recreation Area is an absolute gem! The park is beautifully maintained with stunning natural scenery, peaceful trails, and a crystal clear lake that’s perfect for fishing, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water. The campsites are clean, well spaced, and offer a great mix of wooded privacy and easy access to amenities. It’s the kind of place that lets you truly unwind whether you’re hiking through the rolling trails, watching the sunset over the lake, or gathering around a campfire under the stars. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the entire park feels safe, quiet, and family-friendly. A perfect getaway spot for anyone who loves nature, outdoor adventure, or just a little peace and quiet. Highly recommend spending a weekend (or more!) here you’ll want to come back every season! 🌲🚣‍♂️🔥

Nice quiet fall weekend stay. The only issue we had is our site on the north lake side was not level at all, same thing on the sites next to us. Tried several angles and made it work. I would not stay on that side again. They have a nice trail going around the lake, but lots of roots so be careful as the leaves hide them. Camp store closed for the season

Great fun close to home. I have countless memories here from when I was a kid and I keep making more. It hasn't changed much, the people are always friendly and nice (or at the very least interesting 😅) and the grounds have gotten cleaner and cleaner over the years. Updated and spacious bathrooms/showers. Beautiful trails (4mi straight through). And a party campground to the N and a quiet one to the S so everyone gets what they came for. Can't wait to stay here again.

This was a very nice campground and beach area. Clean and well maintained. The camp store has a lot of stuff in case you forgot anything! Highly recommend for camping or even a day trip to the beach!

I have been coming here for the past 30 years... since I was a kid. my brother and me grew up riding our bikes around and running through the trails. Now I take my family here and it is just so peaceful. I do wish they would check the bathrooms since other people don't clean up their own messes...but still one of the nicest kept.

Nice park not lots for kids to do. Bedtime is 10 pm the park rangers will come till you turn everything off and you must pretty much whisper. I'm not 80 and I have kids.. I don't recommend unless you are sleep before 10🤷‍♂️

This is a favorite day use spot for us! Great lake for fishing and paddling. Nice trails and picnic areas. Although we've never camped there, it looks beautiful. And the public swimming area is clean and close to picnic spots and restrooms.

Visited for the day and had a great time. Campground is huge and offers tons of ammenities. Campsites were spacious, had multiple bathroom options, and a small store for any basics you forget. A large group has space for several activities throughout the park. Beach was nice, but the sand was basically clay, so an umbrella was difficult to stake in. Good wading area for the littles and kayaks available to rent.

Metamora-Hadley is one of our favorite campgrounds in SE Michigan. Ive been camping here since I was kid and now I have gotten to bring my kids here. The park boasts beautiful, wooded campsites clean bathrooms, and plenty of recreational activities, including hiking trails, biking, swimming, boat rentals, fishing and more! Also, when it rains, the drainage is very good so the campsites dry up quick. Kid and dog friendly, but also a good adult getaway. Definitely recommend for a beautiful respite outdoors!

A beautiful park that has it all! We were there from Saturday to Monday in June and it was super crowded on Saturday. Cleared out Sunday, and was much better and quiet. The bathrooms and showers were good. Hiking and the beach were great for a camping trip with small kids ages 5-9 years. The sites are small and there are many RVs here with 2-3 cars at each site making it a bit crowded when filled. I would definitely go back but during the week.
