Loved staying here for 7 months. Life long friends where made. Only saw 1 incident where the Base Police escorted a family out for their Child predator son who threatened other children. Wanted to make sure when people read their review that they are aiding and raising a Child predator. Hoping to NEVER see them on base again. The Fam camp crew are top notch. They really have worked hard to keep this campground rolling. The base itself is so serene and calm. We are so greatful for our long stay.

Horrible first experience here for our family. First, we had reservations like a year in advance. When we got there, they had canceled our reservations. The guy at the front desk said he sent an email saying it was canceled, and we never got it. We had to stay in two different spots because they had already filled ours up. Long story, but this was the most upsetting experience at an RV park we have ever stayed at. Handicap restroom was nasty. The seat had mold all over it. Will not be going back there. They called the MP on us & kicked us out with no explanation in the middle of the night, and we had no where to go. They said they would call us in a few days. Waiting to find out what happened.

Dry camp is now only 10 days out the month. Still $10 but inconvenient if you planned on staying longer. Still I will stop in when I come through because it’s really convenient and inexpensive for all you get and I really appreciate that.

Laid back park with perfect summertime weather. Keran (sp?) at the front desk is really cool. Very knowledgeable and accommodating with answering questions. Rates for the long stay guests are standard $35 per night. No monthly rate. 6 month maximum. The camp hosts are present (spots 1 and 9) The grounds crew is super attentive to maintaining the grounds. It can get a little annoying listening to weed whackers and leave blowers and lawn mowers constantly. Hunting season is really busy at VSFB, lot's of hunters stay in the tent area. I'm not a fan of hunting but I guess there is a need to control the population. There is lots of wildlife here...Rattlesnakes are plentiful, never had one in the immediate camp but the are abundant all around. I spotted no less than 5 Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes in my 6 months. Countless King snakes and your grass snakes... I stayed in one of the pull-thru spots (spots 1 - 20) adjacent to the parking lot spots. If you're craving privacy, less noise and commotion then definitely go with spots 10 - 20. Spots 1-9 get more traffic than the rest and spots 2 - 5 are really busy being across from the tent area. So if you like quiet, less traffic and not getting camp fire smoked out from the tent area, stay away from 2 - 5. it's a nice place to stay...

You must have the proper credentials for military base access to camp here. It's so quiet and peaceful. Lots of green space. Full hook-ups, rec room and laundry room. Although there is access to a beautiful beach, you wouldn't want to swim, as there are sharks. Lots of places to visit nearby. Close to Lompoc and their flower fields as well as La Purisima Mission. Just north is Arroyo Grande, Pismo beach, San Luis Obispo, etc. There are wineries in the area and Edna Valley Wineries on the way to Pismo. SpaceX launches a rocket about once a week in 2024.

Really nice, long, level sites. People are friendly. It was a Thursday night, so we just drove in and got a spot without a reservation. They also have overflow spots. We wanted to extend our stay through the weekend, but no one was in the office on the weekend. It's a 1/2 hr drive to Solvang and the mission if you want something fun to do. They have a really nice bowling alley on base and a cafe with a delicious chicken sandwich. We plan on going back for another night on the way back home. Watch out for your dog, though. There was a coyote lurking around the campground.

Great campsite with things for the kids to do on location. Base was empty on the 4th of July Weekend and we just passed through on the way to Redwoods. Heads up: The puzzle in the picture is missing a piece which made for a fun exchange with the family 🤣

We have been here for approximately two months with two months to go, some of the things that we have seen at other FamCamp’s would include a golf cart for the staff to get around the park and do what they need to do, Check -In and Out -Guest. Etc. There is no place for children to play, most parks have a play grounds along with a dog park. The outer perimeter of the park is mowed often but there is little to no care of the inter RV areas. The laundry rooms and bath facilities are adequate for use. The staff is on top of what they are doing with the limited resources they have. Some of the buildings are in need of painting along with the electrical grid is in need of upgrading. I have been to this Famcamp about 10 yrs ago and and stayed in the dry camp area. I must say with the number of RVers that come through here more attention is needed to this camp! It has unlimited potential to Vandenberg Space Force Base and its Mission.
