Millwood Lake - COE/Saratoga Park
Overview
Millwood Lake - Saratoga Park offers a serene escape on the shores of one of Arkansas's most famous fishing lakes. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this park provides a quiet, natural environment far from the noise of major highways. It serves as an ideal basecamp for those looking to immerse themselves in the unique ecology of Southwest Arkansas, where the water meets dense timber and sprawling wetlands. The atmosphere here is decidedly peaceful, making it a favorite for travelers seeking a slower pace of life.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the community of Saratoga, AR, the park sits on the eastern edge of the massive 29,260-acre Millwood Lake. The landscape is defined by towering pine and hardwood trees that provide ample shade for the camping loops. Because the lake is relatively shallow and filled with submerged timber, the surrounding area feels incredibly wild and untouched. The dense vegetation and proximity to the Little River create a lush environment that feels worlds away from the city.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features well-spaced sites that cater to various rig sizes. Visitors can enjoy the following features during their stay:
- Spacious sites equipped with electric hookups for modern convenience.
- Access to clean drinking water and a centralized dump station for sanitation.
- A multi-lane boat ramp that provides direct access to the lake's productive waters.
- Family-friendly features including a playground and shaded picnic areas.
The facility also includes essential comforts such as flush toilets and hot showers, ensuring a comfortable experience while maintaining a rustic charm.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the heartbeat of this region. Millwood Lake is a premier destination for trophy bass fishing, frequently hosting regional tournaments and attracting anglers from across the country. Bird watchers will find the area equally compelling, as it is a designated Important Bird Area with over 300 recorded species, including bald eagles and various rare waterfowl. For those looking to explore further, the nearby Millwood State Park offers additional hiking trails and a full-service marina just a short drive from the campground.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is a perfect match for dedicated anglers and wildlife photographers who prioritize proximity to nature over resort-style luxuries. It appeals to RVers who enjoy a rustic, peaceful atmosphere and the affordability typically associated with COE managed lands. If you prefer waking up to the sound of songbirds and having a boat launch just steps from your campsite, Saratoga Park is an excellent choice for your Arkansas travels.

Very remote. 5 pm on a beautiful Saturday, not a soul in sight. I will give 5 stars for beauty and privacy. 3 stars cleanliness. Actually very clean except for critters in the shower house

Had to repair water spicket adapter for the water hose to fit, bathroom needed cleaning, have to travel about 5 miles to clean out water tanks no dump station on site, and boats have to be tied over rocks if you want to park them close to the camping area

Beautiful park. Well shaded and maintained. Slow traffic if any, and restrooms are clean. Maintenance and grouds keeping staff do the best with what they've got.

Quite/safe park, very clean, and the camp host are awesome!! We have been staying at this campground for years and we have a favorite site. All the sites are nice and easy to back into or pull through with your camper or camper van. Electric/water at most sites. It's a great stopping pt from South LA on our adventures to North AR and Southern MO. The sunset is beautiful over Millwood Lake. The bath houses are nice as well, hot showers, private facilities. Thank you guys for your hard work and making this one of our favorite campgrounds in Arkansas.

i was told there would be bears here but there were none. staff were agreeable, but not pleasurable. when asked for water, i did not appreciate that. however, i don't want this place to be shut down. these are hard working people.
