Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort
Overview
Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort offers a quintessential coastal Maine experience for travelers seeking beauty and tranquility. Situated directly on the shores of Penobscot Bay, this park provides guests with sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and a peaceful atmosphere that defines the region. It is widely regarded as a premier destination for those seeking a scenic waterfront retreat without the overcrowding found in more commercialized areas. The park emphasizes a quiet, natural aesthetic that allows the rugged beauty of the Mid-Coast to take center stage.
Location & Surroundings
The resort is located just south of downtown Belfast, providing easy access to one of Maine’s most charming and authentic working waterfronts. The property features a private pebble beach where guests can launch kayaks, search for sea glass, or enjoy a morning walk along the tide line. Surrounded by lush greenery and the salty breeze of the bay, the location serves as a perfect base camp for exploring the coastline. Its proximity to Route 1 makes navigation simple for large rigs while maintaining a surprisingly secluded feel.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is designed to accommodate modern travelers with spacious, level sites that offer full hookups including water, sewer, and high-quality electric service. Most sites are thoughtfully oriented to maximize views of the water, ensuring a memorable sunset right from your patio. Guests have access to reliable Wi-Fi, clean laundry facilities, and a cozy pavilion for social gatherings. One of the standout features is the availability of oceanfront fire pits, allowing for classic Maine evenings spent under the stars while listening to the rhythmic sounds of the bay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Staying here places you in the heart of the Mid-Coast, roughly halfway between the mountains of Camden and the cliffs of Bar Harbor. Visitors often spend time exploring the Belfast Harbor Walk or browsing the local art galleries and boutiques found in the historic downtown district. For a true local culinary experience, a visit to the nearby lobster pounds is a must. Nature enthusiasts can easily make the drive to Acadia National Park, making the resort an excellent, quieter alternative to the busy campgrounds located on Mount Desert Island.
Who This Park Is Best For
This resort is ideal for big-rig owners and couples looking for a sophisticated, quiet getaway on the Maine coast. It appeals specifically to travelers who value scenic views and tranquility over high-energy activities or onsite playground facilities. If your travel style involves relaxing with a book while watching the tide come in or using a central location to explore Maine’s historic coastal villages, this park is a perfect fit. It is best suited for those who appreciate a well-maintained environment where the ocean remains the primary attraction.

An absolutely delightful location. It's a beautiful setting right on the bay with clean and spacious sites, friendly and helpful staff, meticulous maintenance, and only a short distance to many great dining and touring options. It also is a very quiet and restful spot. I love to come here to just relax, enjoy the ocean and the seafood, and rest and regenerate. The only drawback is that it's a bit pricey but, given that everything else is nearly perfect, I find that it's worth it for a visit of a few days. All sites have great views of the bay but, of course, the closer you get to the beach/waterfront, the higher the rate. No matter which site you have, all guests have access to the fairly extensive beach adjoining the campground. And lastly I would note that it is the first RV park I have ever visited which advertised that it has wi-fi and actually did have a fully operational and fast wi-fi connection at my site. Impressive.

9/20/25 - 9/22/25 We loved this campground! We were in site 23 with a pickup camper. The hosts were very kind and helpful, and made rounds several times a day. The beach access was wonderful and could walk for a very long distance. Great for the dog! They also have a very nice fenced in dog park.

Moorings Campground is a consistent favorite for my husband and me whenever we're in Belfast, Maine. Whether you snag a prime oceanfront spot or not, you still have access to the shore via a convenient stairway for guests. The campground has great amenities. The laundry room is a lifesaver, and the grounds are beautifully maintained with vibrant flowers. For dog owners, there's a dedicated dog park for your furry friend to get some exercise. The patio by the office is a perfect place to relax, offering a lovely view of the campground and the water. We highly recommend Moorings Campground for a relaxing and convenient stay.

We enjoyed our camping experience in our brand new trailer at Moorings #1. It was exactly as expected after talking with someone over the phone. Our views were breathtaking from our camper. We walked the beach daily to search for sea glass even though we weren’t very successful. The staff was so friendly! We enjoyed our chats especially with Elizabeth & Adam. Hope to see you back😉 during retirement.

My husband and I have stayed at moorings in Belfast for past 4 years. We love the campground, the water front, clean bathrooms and laundry room. The staff are very pleasant, caring, and accommodating. They make you feel very welcome. Short ride to bar harbor as well as other big towns.

Wish this was closer! We absolutely loved our 3 night stay in Site #1. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. Can't beat the views and we really enjoyed walking down to the beach area. To have a campfire with and ocean view is the best!

Very nice RV resort. The place was very clean and the staff was great. It is the perfect place for adults without children. The view was fantastic. One of the best bathrooms we’ve had it was clean water was hot perfect. Unfortunately we came at closing time but they were happy to wait until we were checked in and in our site. Highly recommended🦞!!

This might be my most favorite campground that we've visited in our travels so far! You can't beat the views and the private beach with its access to Penobscot Bay was delightful. We spent an entire day sitting in the warm waters and saw bald eagles nesting in a tree on the shore.

Amazing views, very quiet and peaceful, very accommodating staff (Elizabeth and Adam, and the other staff). Close to town of Belfast and 1.25 hours to Acadia. Only drawback is there isn’t much for kids to do at the campground (there is a SMALL play structure, but no pool). Bay is steps away though! We will be returning!!

Very clean and very well kept RV Resort. We stayed 2 nights at Moorings campground and are already planning to come back. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The check in process was very thorough and detailed (more than any other place we've stayed). The hosts were around the grounds consistantly asking if everyone was doing well and if anyone needed anything. Best customer service and excellent maintenance of an RV resort we've experienced. Laundry is very affordable and clean. Bathrooms and showers are also very clean. The view of the water and the private beach were an added bonus. Thank you!
