Overview
Mueller State Park serves as a pristine mountain sanctuary in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Spanning over 5,000 acres, this park is renowned for its lush meadows and dense forests of aspen and conifer. Travelers often visit during the autumn to witness the changing colors or in the summer for the cool mountain air. It offers a classic Colorado camping experience with modern conveniences integrated into a rugged landscape, perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in nature.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Divide, CO, at an elevation of approximately 9,500 feet, the park provides a dramatic backdrop of granite rock formations and views of the Sangre de Cristo Range. The geography is dominated by rolling hills and deep ridges, providing a sense of seclusion even though it is easily accessible from Highway 67. The Pikes Peak massif towers nearby, dominating the eastern horizon and providing a constant point of reference for hikers and campers exploring the diverse terrain.
Amenities & Park Features
The park features several well-maintained camping loops with 132 sites, many of which offer electric hookups suitable for various RV sizes. While there are no full hookups at the individual sites, guests have convenient access to park essentials:
- Over 130 campsites, many featuring electric-only hookups.
- On-site dump station and water fill stations for RV convenience.
- Access to modern bathhouses with pay showers and laundry facilities.
The visitor center acts as a hub for education, providing insights into the local flora and fauna that call this high-country environment home.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find over 50 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking within the park boundaries. For a change of pace, the historic mining town of Cripple Creek is just a short drive away, offering museums and narrow-gauge train rides. Additionally, the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument provides a unique look at prehistoric Colorado. Wildlife viewing is a primary activity here, with frequent sightings of elk, black bears, and various migratory birds.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for nature photographers and wildlife enthusiasts who prefer a quiet, natural setting over a commercial resort atmosphere. It is a perfect fit for families looking to introduce children to the outdoors through ranger-led programs and easy-to-moderate trails. RVers who appreciate spacious, scenic campsites and do not mind the lack of individual sewer hookups will find this to be one of the most rewarding stops in the Pikes Peak region.

Beautiful State Park that is well cared for. The trail we hiked from the Visitor Center parking lot was well marked. There were two EV chargers in the parking lot. Lots of camp sites, but you must book in advance.

Beautifully kept park. Staff are helpful at the center. Enjoyed our walk through the forests. Beautiful picnic tables, well situated and the bird life is amazing. Will definitely be back.

One of my favorite places to go any time of year. Been here hiking in all 4 seasons and always love coming here. Go to the visitor's center as they have some cool stuff and it supports the park!

Beautiful campground. Quiet, peaceful, user friendly. Beautiful trails. We had cell service. Wonderful, relaxing experience. Can't wait to come back.

Such a beautiful and nice park! We only hit the elk meadow trail but it had everything you could want in one hike. Gorgeous Mountain View’s at points, a bit of dense trees, open valley view, and there is an option to hit a pond on the way back to the parking lot. The lady at the counter in the visitor center was so nice. Will be back for other trails!

Me and my husband had a great time camping at Mueller State Park. There are facilities like bathroom, shower, dish sink at the Camper’s Services. Guess what you are also welcome if you down own an Rv. We had a tent and had a great time. Is quiet and family environment.

Our family of 5 stayed here from 4/19-4/21/25 and loved our stay. The sites were well maintained (ours was site #83) and the bathrooms were super clean. We loved that there was a special room that had a large wash sink for dishes and a water bottle filling station. The wildlife was present in the family of deer that visited our area throughout the day. The only downfall was that we expected the showers to be open, as nothing was stated on the website that they would be closed, but they were closed till May 1st.

Well marked trails and lots of wildlife. Certainly a healthy area. It was very easy to get to and you do not need 4wd to access the trail heads in most places. There are a lot of spread out and numbered campsites you can book ahead of time as well as public restrooms along the main road of the park.

Stayed here in 2022 and loved the stay. This is a high-elevation park so prepare accordingly. Great views of Pike’s Peak from some of the camp grounds and lots of wildlife you would expect to find at these elevations (Canada jays, grouse, etc.).

Great state park with amazing trails and views. I wish the place was more dog friendly. It seems odd you can ride a horse on a trail but not walk a dog. This is our favorite CO state park. It is popular do reserve early (6 months in advance for weekends in the summer).
