Nenana RV Park & Campground

Overview

Nenana RV Park & Campground serves as a peaceful gateway for travelers exploring the vast and rugged landscapes of interior Alaska. Positioned conveniently between Fairbanks and Denali National Park, this park offers a well-maintained home base for those navigating the George Parks Highway. It balances rustic Alaskan charm with essential modern conveniences, providing a relaxed atmosphere that stands in stark contrast to the busier, high-traffic tourist hubs found further south.

Location & Surroundings

The park is nestled in the historic community of Nenana, a town famous for its deep river heritage and unique local culture. It sits near the scenic confluence of the Nenana and Tanana Rivers, offering visitors a sense of seclusion and natural beauty. The surrounding area is characterized by lush boreal forests and wide-open northern skies, making it a prime spot for viewing the Midnight Sun or simply enjoying the crisp, clean air of the subarctic wilderness.

Amenities & Park Features

Designed with the modern RVer in mind, the park features a variety of site options to suit different needs. Notable amenities include:

  • Spacious pull-through sites designed for big-rig accessibility.
  • Reliable full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electrical service.
  • Convenient on-site laundry facilities and clean shower houses.

The wooded layout of the campground provides a natural buffer, ensuring that guests enjoy a level of privacy while remaining close to the heart of the town.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying here puts you within walking distance of the Alfred Starr Nenana Cultural Center, where you can learn about the rich Athabascan history of the region. Many visitors also take time to see the site of the famous Nenana Ice Classic tripod near the riverbank. The park acts as an excellent jumping-off point for world-class fishing on the river or for those planning a day excursion into the northern reaches of Denali National Park.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for independent travelers who prefer a quiet, authentic vibe over anonymous, large-scale resort environments. It is a fantastic choice for big-rig owners who need dependable utilities and easy navigation while journeying through the Alaskan interior. Whether you are a nature photographer chasing the northern light or a road-tripper seeking a reliable mid-way rest stop, this park offers the perfect blend of utility and northern tranquility.

A great place to rest. The shower cabins and toilets were very clean. The owners of the place were incredibly hospitable and friendly. They shared great information about the town and the surrounding area, which made for both an informative and enjoyable stay. After a long and tiring journey, I was able to rest here for three days

We spent two nights at this RV park using an overland vehicle, the park is very well kept very clean. The showers were very clean. The bathrooms were very clean. Probably one of the best places we’ve stayed since we left home on July one if you have a chance to stay there, please do so.

Great little campground for all sized rigs or tents. Really nice owners, cool location not far from river in village filled with old log cabins, and nice facilities. Plenty of hot water in showers. Ended up staying an extra night. Really glad to have found this place!

If you're looking to get charged up before Denali this is your place. Great ambience and everything is functional and clean. Well cared for RV Park. Got my 30ft TT in with no problem. Very nice stay over the weekend. Quaint little town. Good WI-FI and first nation TV. Verizon came in good too. Highly recommend as it was a good stop for us for two nights.

Decent little campground. To clarify- I was perfectly satisfied with our stay here. Spots are tight (just like all the other campgrounds in the area) but we got our 37 ft class A in here with no problem. A guy with a big 5er came in & had to maneuver a bit but he also got it. Electric is 30 amp. You can pay for dry, electric only, or electric plus water. Dump station available. Laundry is $2 each washer & dryer. They did a good job. I would stay here again.

Great location, away from the main highway, quiet. Firepits and rings. Tight spaces but manageable. The prices are reasonable. HOWEVER, the long-term occupant in space 15 has two barking dogs on leashes that allow them to cross the gravel road and walkway and prevent people from walking. This is a major SHOW STOPPER and should be corrected by the owner ASAP.

Very clean RV park. Bathrooms with showers and washer/dryers. Cute small mini golf. There is a park is close by to walk to for kids. Water and electric hook ups. Even got to see the northern lights while there.

$15 for a tent site, shower included. The office has coffee machine and microwave. Host is very friendly. Not a lot of people on Sunday night. You can also pick some magazines which introduce local activities. Highly recommended. (A lot of mosquitoes)
