Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA Journey

Welcome to the Newberry / I-26 / Sumter NF KOA!

"Centrally located in the middle of everywhere" is the best way to describe our 46-site, wooded campground. (That's right! No "parking lot" camping here!) Nestled on 19 acres in the "Piedmont" of South Carolina, you'll find us less than a mile off Exit 60 on Interstate 26 in Kinards (that's "Ky"-nerds), South Carolina.

While you're camping with us, feel free to "walkabout" this great state of ours by fishing in Lake Murray, hiking in Sumter National Forest, or catching a show at the Newberry Opera House. (It ain't really opera.) If you prefer eclectic restaurants, museums, and history, we're within an hour's drive of Columbia, Spartanburg, and Greenville.

We're a great stopping point, too. Whether you're headed to coastal destinations like Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Hilton Head, and Savannah, or you're just "passing through" on your way to Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia, just give us a call for a safe, quiet, clean spot to rest your head for the night. With 28 pull-through, full hook-up (30- and 50-amp service) sites, it's easy to roll in, roll out, and roll on! We also have 9 "back-in" sites that have water and electricity-perfect for a quick, weekend getaway. Other amenities include: saltwater pool, camp store, laundry facilities, dog park, playground, pavilion/outdoor movie theater, and a dump station. We don't have cable, but our Wi-Fi is exceptional!

We made reservations but arrived late. Not a problem. Checking in late was smooth. Clean restrooms and showers were a welcome surprise. These perfect KOA campgrounds are what makes driving around America great.

Last minute stay, while we were on our way to Darlington from Southern Kentucky. Great experience, from making the reservation over the phone, we were greeted at the entrance, escorted to our site, and the help pulling into the pull-through site with full hook-up. We will definitely be back since we make this trip every year during Labor day weekend.

This place was SOO cute! We stopped for the night on our way north and it had everything we needed. Great stop with local items too which I love!! The women working at the front desk were so lovely! My son loved the gnome scavenger hunt so much!! It was nice to have something to do even when it is cold. Thanks!

I was moving from SC to TN. Very exhausted and stressed. I needed to split the trip up driving a uhaul towing my car so I needed space to park. They were kind enough to find me a spot. It was perfect. I had to tent in really cold weather and had to get on the road desperately in need of hot coffee. They were not open yet but the owner walking her dog came by and said happy to see I made it in safely. She offered to go make me a hot cup of coffee although they were not open yet. She was also very inspiring when we we discussing my future and why I was moving. Campsites were very pretty. I wish I could of stayed longer to relax. Thank you so much for y’alls hospitality. I hope to stop in again.

We stayed overnight while making our way south. Great pull through site with easy access in and out. Staff in the office was great too. Had me laughing as soon as we started chatting.

Such a charming and welcoming KOA! The people here truly make the difference — you can feel the care and thought they put into every detail. The Halloween haunted hayride was incredible and clearly a labor of love. You can tell how much effort the team put into creating such a memorable experience. Highly recommend this KOA and its wonderful staff!

My family and I stayed for an overnight stay on 10/5/25 on our way to Myrtle Beach. We were instantly met with kindness by every employee who went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable. The grounds are meticulously maintained and all facilities are clean. Even though it was only for a night, we very much enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be back in the future! If you’re looking for a wonderful place that is convenient to I-26, this is the place!

Our first stay here and we were very happy with it. Staff is friendly and accommodating. You can definitely tell they spend a lot of time keeping up the park! Well maintained, exceptionally clean, dog park had balls and frisbees and well kept. Nice swimming pool, game areas, camp store stocked well too. Plenty of fun activities for kids and adults such as cookouts, scavenger hunts, pool parties and so much more! Will definitely stay again when we are traveling this way again!

Campground is easy to find. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. At check in they give you restaurant and shopping recommendations for the area. Staff escorted us to our site. The site was wide enough and long enough for easy access (site was about 100 feet long). The sites are very level. All sites have gravel with no bare spots. Park has flowers, gnomes and other decorations throughout the park. WIFI was fast enough to stream and watch TV. Bathrooms were very clean and roomy. They have a scavenger for children along with lots of painted rocks throughout the campground. This place is going all out with improvements for the sites, expanding camp area, building a water wheel for kids to pan for stones and other things. There is a very nice pavilion that they host events are. The dog park is very well maintained with benches in the shady for us to enjoy while the dogs explored the park. Make sure you walk around at night as there are soft sting lights all around the park.
