Otter Springs Park & Campground

Overview

Otter Springs Park & Campground offers a serene escape into the heart of North Florida’s natural landscape. Located in Gilchrist County, this 551-acre wilderness preserve is centered around a second-magnitude natural spring. Unlike high-traffic commercial resorts, this park focuses on preserving the environment and providing a tranquil setting for those looking to reconnect with nature. The spring remains a constant 73 degrees year-round, inviting visitors to enjoy its clear waters regardless of the season.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in Trenton, Florida, the park is situated just off the historic Suwannee River. The surrounding area is characterized by dense hardwood forests and limestone outcroppings typical of the Florida karst landscape. The park’s position provides a secluded feel while remaining accessible to the Suwannee River Greenway, a popular paved trail for cycling and hiking. It serves as a quiet basecamp for exploring the rural charm and natural wonders of the Suwannee Valley.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground caters to a variety of travelers with spacious sites and essential facilities. Guests have access to a unique heated indoor pool, which provides a comfortable swimming alternative during cooler months. The park features multiple picnic pavilions, clean bathhouses, and laundry facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Key features include:

  • Full-hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp service.
  • A heated indoor swimming pool for year-round use.
  • Direct access for kayaking and canoeing via the spring run.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Nature enthusiasts will find plenty to do within a short drive of the campground. Fanning Springs State Park and Manatee Springs State Park are both nearby, offering more opportunities for swimming and wildlife viewing. The local area is famous for its network of freshwater springs and river activities. Visitors can spend their days fishing on the Suwannee River or exploring the local antique shops and small-town eateries in downtown Trenton, which maintains a classic Old Florida atmosphere.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for nature lovers and birdwatchers who prefer a quiet, wooded environment over a bustling urban park. It is particularly well-suited for families looking for a safe, natural space for children to play and discover Florida’s unique ecosystems. Because the park is managed by a non-profit dedicated to veterans, it also attracts military families and retirees who appreciate the mission-driven atmosphere and the peaceful, respectful community found within the campground.

Very quiet and peaceful campground. Lots of tree canopy and shade. The springs are pretty. The water is fairly warm. Rv pads are spaced well apart and offer up a fire pit. The people operating the park are very nice and helpful. They also have lots of trails to walk and laundry machines. My only disappointment was that their pool was closed. My kids were looking forward to a pool but the smores we had made up for it. The rates are very family friendly. We will come back again.

Another amazing Tosh Event Group success. I highly recommend this venue. The staff at the resort were professional and courteous.

Spring is small but nice. Not crowded that's a plus. Camping spots are not secluded so you will have neighbors. Nice screened in pool. Office employee's are super nice and helpful.

Lovely ride along the limerock road they keep it grated around to the spring, I hadn't been there since 2010 when Suwannee River garden club had their Christmas party, the year I was elected president , some of you remember, found a tiny purple specimen by the huge oak tree, bell shaped.. The park was $3. To get in 2$ for washing machine, the heated pool looked nice, lots of veterans and all around nice quiet place to hang on a blistering hot day. Much quieter than Hart, we went last week , way to crowded and loud for me, just right for young adults. When you come out you can go right along the swamp seeing cypress trees and many knees, my friend calls nuns.. That will bring you to Shingle Landing where the three cypress are located. Beautiful ride lots to see , spring flowers blooming their hearts out 💕

Clean facilities, lots of space, and the spring is absolutely amazing when you visit during the warmer months. There are lots of available camping spots and some cabins for rent on the property as well. If you want to book a stay during a holiday I'd advise booking well in advance because they rent out quickly. The folks that I've encountered that work there are always friendly and are quick to help with information about the surrounding areas if they can.

Our first camping experience was great and a success! Definitely recommended for small or big campers! They were nice to let us come after hours. We had no issues at all!

We camped at this park for 2 days. It was a good experience. The spots were a good size with full hookups. The shower rooms looked clean . There’s an indoor pool that was open but nobody used it. The spring was flooded from too much rain.

The stilt house is the perfect disconnect from the hustle and constant presence of everyday life. It is a wonderful way to bring your family back together and do the most important thing in life, build memories! There is zero phone reception for the most part. You may get luck and find a spot here or there to give you at most two bars. I love this ! There is no TV. So I do bring my projector to have a movie under the stars. You do need to download any books/ movies pre-hand to showing up here. They have a stove and refrigerator and microwave. I will say the toaster is on the way out it took three times per toast to get it light brown. You do need to bring your own cleaning supplies, bathing " they do have towels for you ", if you're like us and have a larger family bring pots and pans it looks like at one point they had a good amount, just not any longer. Great hiking and kayaking! My kids love their little park. They do have a very small store if you need small supplies.. you are expected to clean the house before checking out, which is 1 p.m., so that's awesome! They worked with us on an early check-in at noon, normal it's 4 pm. I hope you have a go at this wonderful place... see you soon stilt house!

Loved it! A bit tightly packed together, but we had an end spot so was nicer. The springs are small but beautiful and nice and deep. Nice bike trail through the woods to the Suwannee river. Nice fire rings made from old truck rims. Good playground for kids, super nice indoor heated pool. Would definitely go again!
