Situated in the heart of Kit Carson County, the park is surrounded by the iconic, wide-open landscapes of the Colorado High Plains. The park is thoughtfully designed for modern travelers, featuring full hookup sites that support both 30 and 50-amp electrical connections for various rig types. To accommodate the needs of diverse travelers, the park offers spacious pull-through sites that make navigating even the largest motorhomes and fifth-wheels a stress-free experience. Such a wonderful stay here! The park is quiet, peaceful, and very clean — no noise or rowdy crowds, just a relaxing atmosphere. It’s easy to pull in and out, and the clubhouse, showers, and bathrooms are all spotless and beautifully maintained. Management is friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they take pride in keeping everything in great shape. The only thing to note is that the road leading in is a few miles of dirt, and when it rains it can be a bit rough to drive through with a heavier rig — but once you get there, it’s absolutely worth it!

I agree with a previous reviewer - know what you are in for. The pictures are not representative of the state of this park. When we first arrived it literally looked abandoned. We had to ask for the grass to be cut. It was 18” high. It was also infested with moths. Two weeks after we left we’re still getting them out of our rig. We’ve been full time 3 years and never had a mouse. We got one the first night we were there. There’s also sand spurs so big they punctured my ebike tires and our dog kept bloody paws. We spent close to $100 dealing with all these issues from the lack of maintenance. Some of the grass got cut but never the entire park. The road leaving was so muddy we had to use 4WD. We were stressed about getting our rig down the road the day we left because it had rained the night before. We did leave early and Liz refunded us the difference. It’s a beautiful very isolated area but not worth the safety issues we had to deal with. Also even the grocery store in Burlington is not that great. Stock up on any supplies if you go.

Did an overnight here. Checked in at the office and staff was helpful when we had a few questions upon arrival. They allowed us to switch our spot when we had concerns about the approach and a few smaller trees. WiFi was strong and worked well. The 5miles of dirt road on the way in was okay/not bad with a few large potholes that we were able to avoid. Overnight we experienced torrential rain, hail and wind. In the morning it was a different story. The roads back to the hwy were muddy and our tow vehicle was swaying back and forth, not able to gain traction since the tires were caked in mud. If you're looking for an easy on/off hwy this  campground might not be for you. However it certainly is very calm and peaceful. In some ways we felt like pictures were a bit deceiving. The grass wasn't mowed around site.  They do have a lookout deck but nails were poking out and steps were broken. Overall park doesn't seem to be as well maintained as expected. Don't get me wrong, this is a lovely place to stay with beautiful sweeping views from every direction but know what you're in for. Also important to note that there are no bathrooms/showers available at this time.

It was so peaceful here!! Enjoyed the respite. We stayed for 2 nights, did the laundry and just relaxed. Even our dog loved it. Thank you for providing all of the necessities.

This place is a beautiful oasis in eastern Colorado. Spacious, level RV sites. But the clubhouse, showers, game room, kitchen are the crowning jewels! Would be great as hunting lodge/RV or just passing through. 4 miles South of I-70 is well worth the drive for the quiet seclusion and immaculate amenities! Check it out! Thanks to the owners!

This campground is quiet and in the middle of beautiful eastern Colorado fields. It's well worth driving the few miles of really good unpaved roads. The owner, Chuck, owns 50 thousand acres and is very hospitable. We recommend staying here.

We were driving thru and found this awesome little gem! Spent my birthday night here! We were only able to stay one night, but it was great! Big spots with a lot of room between sites. It was a few miles away from I-70, so the only noise was the birds!! Chuck was great and took care of us! Highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and relax here instead of one of the crowded RV parks right off of the highway!!

Such a nice place in a beautiful, wide open tree-lined landscape. Much better than all the cramped, dirty RV parks I’ve seen. The host here even let me car camp for a basically negligible fee. Great area to relax and refresh as you enter / leave Colorado.

We have stayed here twice now for long term stays of 2 months the first time and in the middle of a 1 month stay now. We came back to this park because it is clean, quiet and the owner is an exceptional host. I am doing this review at this point, in the middle of this stay because there needs to be some clarification of a couple of bad reviews just submitted by a couple of screeching harpies that were removed from the park due to multiple violations of park rules and unruly behavior of these women and their accompanying party. As a witness to the events my wife and I can thoroughly corroborate the owners statements of the events in her reply to these bad reviews. They are complete fabrications with the sole intent to do harm to the reputation of this park. The fact that these reviews are the only bad reviews should speak volumes. If you look at the many many good reviews, that will give you an accurate feel for what this park is actually like. I have given Painted Rock Park excellent reviews on Campendium also. We are full timers so we understand how nice a great facility can be. Weekend tent warriors trying to game an honest park owner should not be taken seriously.

This place is a real treasure, truly one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever used. Highly recommended if you are looking for a stop along I-70. We used the tent area and found it spacious, comfortable, and private. The grounds include outdoor games, grill, and an extraordinarily tidy and well supplied clubhouse with a full kitchen, billiards, two bathrooms, WiFi, and children’s play area. The property manager is very friendly and the attention to detail and thoughtfulness is really evident when you stay here. Would choose this over a hotel any day.
