Spanning over 400 acres, this park provides a classic Pacific Northwest experience where the rustle of Douglas firs replaces the noise of the city. It serves as a vital gateway to the natural beauty of the region, focusing heavily on preserved wilderness and quiet outdoor recreation for those passing through or staying locally.
Location & Surroundings
Situated along Highway 2, the park is conveniently located approximately 10 miles from the town of Newport and roughly 40 miles north of Spokane. The surroundings are defined by rolling hills and dense timber, providing a deeply secluded atmosphere while remaining easily accessible for travelers crossing state lines. This park acts as a sanctuary for local wildlife, often allowing visitors to spot deer or wild turkeys among the trees during their stay.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is specifically designed for travelers who appreciate a primitive camping experience without the distractions of modern life. It offers several RV and tent sites that are thoughtfully spaced to ensure maximum privacy and immersion in nature. While there are no utility hookups available, the park provides vault toilets and seasonal potable water. The highlight of the facility is the 7-mile trail system, which is perfect for morning hikes or mountain biking adventures.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Just a short drive away, the town of Newport provides charming local shops and the fascinating Pend Oreille County Historical Museum. Outdoor enthusiasts often venture to the Pend Oreille River for a day of fishing, kayaking, or motorboating. For those on a longer road trip, the park is a great stop along the International Selkirk Loop, which showcases some of the most stunning mountain vistas and scenic waterways in the Pacific Northwest.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is best suited for RV travelers who enjoy a rustic and peaceful atmosphere rather than a developed resort. It is the perfect choice for self-contained campers, hikers, and birdwatchers looking to escape the hustle of more crowded state parks. If your travel style prioritizes natural solitude and trail access, Pend Oreille County Park offers a serene environment to park your rig and recharge in the woods.

Our family got us a cabin by the river. Very nice cabin. Nice, quiet area. Beautiful views, close to Idaho.

Loved staying at Old American RV! Dana, Matt, and Theresa are so warm and friendly. We had a beautiful full hook up wooded site overlooking the river. Thanks so much!!

The area is really pretty. Beautiful place to look out on the water. RV sites are way too close to each other to be a place where it would be comfortable to hang out at the site all day. Our neighbor's awning was almost touching our slide-out. Bathrooms were clean, missing toilet paper. Staff not so friendly. Ended up leaving and going to a different KM resort.

Don't have a credit check through this company if you have no credit, it's just as bad as having bad credit. They don't care, they will just take your money. They don't care, I lost alot of money. I had to pay for 3 credit checks, just to rent a long term little space of dirt. Yes I have no credit, I pay my bills.i lived in my last house for 11yrs, 10 of those yrs was month to month. Oh and the only explanation I got was, corporate said no and that's it. They wouldn't even give me the corporate offices phone number. I'm mentally and physically disabled. I felt that wasn't right, to take our money. With no real reason but no credit.

Love it. Nice day use area as well. Good cell service with T-Mobile. Water level was high so boat ramp was closed. Has vault toilets, bear proof storage boxes, and water. Nice walking trail too. Hosts were very friendly!

No power or sewer. Water spickets to fill water jugs but not your RV. No sewer dump. Dry camping. Lots of shade. Quite. Several first come first serve spots. 2 miles from town. 👍👍👍

Great facilities, clean and good room. Only 15 or so sites so it didn't feel crowded. The only downside was the beach along the river didn't have good swimming access, but would be good for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, or fishing
