Just be aware that there are snakes here. We had one living in a bush by our spot , but it gave us no problems. Snakes are vital to the system. This is a very beautiful park and we are very glad we stayed there.

Stayed here in a 38ft Renegade plus Jeep. Room for both in loop A-13. Site was secluded. Beautiful setting. 50A, no water, dump. 100 degrees first of April. Lots of trails (well groomed) & hiking. At 100 degreeswe enjoyed neither! But beautiful surroundings. Very clean and neat. We camped at Picacho Peak State Park in a Motorhome.

A beautiful park. The trail up to the top of the mountain is nice. The hike is a bit difficult. There are ropes, and cables, and planks, and things to help pass some areas. Some people decide to not pass one point that is about 2/3 up. The view from the top is incredible. The Cogburn Ostrich Farm is another nice place to visit, and is right near there. and. DQ across the freeway.

Fee for Daily Use is 7.00 and from there you choose what trail to do. We hiked Sunset Vista Trail to the peak. Total time was 6 hours and 2 minutes but we did take several breaks on the way. Total miles 6 round trip. The first miles and a half is all flat terrain once you get to the base of the mountain and see your first set of cables to hike up its a challenge from here. Gloves definitely recommended. There are a few areas where you will us the cables to climb up. The views from the summit however are well worth it. Now I can drive past this peak amd say I hiked that. It's an amazing experience. Take plenty of water some snacks to keep you hydrated and sun block.

Loved this campground and didn't want to leave!! Just the right size, clean facilities and amazing views! Sites are a little close together for a state park but not to the point where it takes away from the experience. Felt very safe and cozy. Close enough to Tucson area to get anything you could need. 100% would stay again!
