Overview

Point of Rocks RV Campground offers a unique camping experience in the heart of Prescott’s iconic landscape. Known for its incredible rock formations, this park provides a scenic escape while remaining close to modern conveniences. Visitors often come for the natural beauty and stay for the peaceful atmosphere that defines this northern Arizona destination. It is a privately owned park that emphasizes the preservation of its rugged, rocky environment.

Location & Surroundings

The campground is tucked directly within the Granite Dells, a geological wonder consisting of billion-year-old granite boulders. It is positioned just a short walk from Watson Lake Park, where campers can enjoy breathtaking views of the blue water contrasted against the rugged rocks. This location provides a dramatic backdrop that feels isolated and wild, despite being located only five miles from the city’s historic center.

Amenities & Park Features

This park balances utility with nature, providing full hookup sites that accommodate various RV sizes. While the focus remains on the outdoors, guests have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, clean restroom facilities, and coin-operated laundry services. Every site is designed to integrate with the natural environment, offering picnic tables and direct access to the sprawling trail system that winds through the surrounding property and public lands.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure is just steps away with the Peavine National Recreation Trail, which is ideal for hiking or mountain biking through the dells. For a touch of local history, a quick drive leads to Whiskey Row in downtown Prescott, famous for its Victorian architecture and lively western saloons. Boating, fishing, and kayaking on Watson Lake are also popular activities easily accessible for those staying at the park.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is a haven for nature photographers and outdoor enthusiasts who value scenery over resort-style amenities like swimming pools or clubhouses. It is perfect for travelers seeking a quiet retreat with unparalleled access to hiking and water activities. If you prefer waking up surrounded by ancient geology rather than a typical concrete parking lot, this park is an excellent choice for your Arizona travels.

Fantastic location, setting, and value. The park is nestled amongst the rocks and free trail access to Watson Lake Park. Laundry and bathrooms are clean, WiFi is secure and a descent speed (~10mb/s down), good cell reception. Bathrooms/showers vary with the nicest/newest one being down by the office. Easy, well-organized check-in/out process. They supply an array of helpful welcome guides to the park and area attractions.

Wonderful place to stay just north of Prescott. 2nd generation owners since the 1970’s! We stayed 3 nights in a value site which worked well with our van and close to the bathroom and laundry and garbage bins. Campground is built in hills so bring leveling blocks. Saw all sizes of rigs come and use the sites. Only thing I wish they had was a dog park…just not sure where they’d put it. We would stay again though!

Fantastic location to be able to hike to two different lakes. Great RV campground. We were parked right up against the rocks. Very quiet, couldn’t even see our neighbors, bathrooms were spotless with strong, hot showers. We loved the city of Prescott, A short drive to downtown

We stayed in the upper camping area where we had easy access to the trail to Watson Lake. Great for day hikes and walking our dog. We also brought the Mtn Bikes as there are several trail options in this area. The layout and amenities of the campground are nice. There are hot showers and bathrooms in both the upper and lower areas along with a laundry facility. The store at the Campground is nice for last minute items like ice and bottled water we forgot to pick up. Some of the sites have beautiful rock formations for back drops. Ours looked out over the Watson park area which was an equally nice and provided great views. The only negative is traffic picks up on Hwy 89 around 6:30-7am. There are a couple local hot rods that like to race out of the area on their way to work. It wasn't that big of deal as my wife and I work remote during the day and play in the afternoons/weekend

I love this place! First visit. Better signage, maybe a slow down lane? Hard to get in and out with traffic. Nice, clean place. Office has a few essentials. DVDs to trade. Nice touch. Laundry was not expensive, $2(?), must stay w/clothes. Weather did not cooperate. Chilly, rainy. Did not get out walking. Shopping is close, box stores, Walmart, target, Lowe's, etc. our site was long enough for our 33' tt. Had a good picnic table, nice bushes and trees between sites.

This was one of if not the nicest rv park we have stayed in. The facilities were immaculate. They have there own hiking trails and picnic area's in the rocks. The views were amazing. Their prices were resonable. We will definitely be back.

This location is within walking distance of the lake. If you like the look of the lake, about a fourth of the spaces in this RV campground look very similar. There are two bath houses, one for each half of the park. The spaces that are closest to the lake or just absolutely beautiful. They tuck up into the rocks. It's a beautiful place to spend a couple of days. We've been there twice.

This is a very well taken care of RV Park. This was my first time in an one but the bathrooms were INSANELY clean. The grounds were tidy but not over kept so it was still a bit of a natural outdoorsy feel. Most of the other tenants/patrons were also super respectful and quiet. Watson Lake being so close is super awesome, close enough to town but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet. I can't wait for our next trip.

Awesome Park! Arrived to a large reservation board on the office wall with our information packet clearly labeled with our name printed on it, great directions to our spot and tail map. Park has very nice facilities, bathrooms, laundry, picnic area and walking trails. Park was neat, clean, tress were trimmed for clearance and plenty of clearly labeled trash bins. Great older park that is well maintained! We will be back soon!!!

I am a little surprised at all the praise for this campground. The adjacent lake is beautiful, no doubt , and there are things to do in the area. My complaint is more about customer service and stems from my extensive RV travel experience and expectations. Most RV resorts are extremely pleasant and accommodating. I am on the road 4 to 5 months of every year. I am disappointed about the value of this campground by comparison and response from their team. My RV spot was #42. It is a "premium" spot $68 per night! I expected better. We picked up our reservation packet and had a hard time deciphering the site directional map and missed our camp site. It was hard to turn around (frustrating). My husband did an outstanding job backing into a spot on quite a steep incline (kudos to my husband, but frustrating). Immediately upon arrival we noticed how LOUD the site was from road noise (super frustrated). So, I inquired about a refund as 5 nights suddenly seemed like too long to stay here. I used the campground on-line interface and chose cancellation and proceeded to make an inquiry and asked what the cancel amount would be if I decided to only stay 3 nights. I made it clear I was not willing to pay full night cancellation amounts. I was automatically cancelled and charged full amount cancellation prices. They said since I choose "cancellation" and not "inquiry only" it was my fault and they had every right to cancel my reservation. Their tone was very snippy as well and apparently my comments in the submission box didn't matter. They offered to move me (if I acted fast and if there was availability). No thank you, now I just want to leave. I was expecting an apology. Nope. I was expecting they would make things right, by not charging me the cancel penalty. Nope. The whole experience at the end of our trip was upsetting.
