Prescott/White Spar
Overview
White Spar Campground offers a quintessential Arizona forest experience within the Prescott National Forest. Tucked away under a canopy of towering Ponderosa pines, this campground provides a serene atmosphere for travelers looking to disconnect from the modern world. At an elevation of approximately 5,700 feet, the air is consistently crisp and the surroundings remain lush, offering a cool mountain respite from the desert heat found in lower elevations of the state.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just three miles south of downtown Prescott, this location offers a unique blend of wilderness and convenience. The campground is nestled in the Bradshaw Mountains, providing a rugged backdrop of granite boulders and dense timber. Visitors enjoy the easy access to the Prescott Basin, a region known for its diverse wildlife and an extensive network of recreational trails that wind through the scenic mountain landscape.
Amenities & Park Features
As a traditional forest service site, White Spar focuses on a rustic, natural experience rather than resort-style luxuries. The park provides paved camping spurs that can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet in length. While there are no utility hookups available, the site is well-maintained and equipped with vault toilets and seasonal potable water. Each individual campsite features a sturdy picnic table and a steel fire ring, encouraging a classic campfire experience under the stars.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do with Goldwater Lake located just a short drive away, which is perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The campground serves as a primary trailhead for several popular paths, including the Arivapai Trail, which is a favorite for both hikers and mountain bikers. For those seeking local culture, the historic Whiskey Row in downtown Prescott offers local dining, galleries, and a glimpse into Arizona's frontier history.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is an ideal match for dry campers who value natural beauty and quiet over luxury amenities. It is a fantastic choice for outdoor adventurers looking for immediate trail access and a genuine forest setting. If you prefer the sound of wind through the pines over the hum of a crowded RV resort, White Spar provides the perfect basecamp for your Northern Arizona journey.

This is now my local market since I moved to Hassayampa; and I love it. I've lived in Phoenix, where mega-stores weren't as consistently stocked. And the staff is super friendly. It's a winner.

This is a much smaller Safeway and its easy to get in and out. I get tired of walking in some larger stores so this fits my needs for the pick up a few things type of trip. Even when busy its always an easy trip with plenty of open registers and self checkout. Even customer service is quick.

If there was a zero to select for this review, I would select it. This Safeway on White Spar is where I regularly shop, because it is closest to my home and most of the time, the employees are quite friendly and helpful. Today I stopped in simply to get an adjustment on my receipt from the night before when I picked up several groceries. There were two discrepancies on my receipt. The prices didnt were not reflective of the coupons I clipped on the safeway app. It has happened before BTW. Not my first rodeo with this type of occurrence. At customer service, the woman, an older person with thick glasses and an attitude was the face of Safeway today. Not friendly, helpful or kind. I showed her my receipt, where I had circled the 2 items. She responded, did you clip the coupons, I responded yes. Did you click the coupons in the store. No. I plan ahead, clip the coupons, make a list, then go to the store. She continues well because if you clipped the coupons in the store there's no time for it to hit the cloud. I again told her I had clipped the coupons prior to going there. And, I showed her a picture of the shelf where I picked up the item. She begins to leave her work area and I told her I have a picture of the digital coupon right on my phone. I also told her there is nothing on the shelf for the plastic ware that says sale but I clipped the digital coupon. She doesn't want to see it, she says she is going to go check the item on the shelf. The woman returns, and says she will make the adjustment on the bread. Then she looks at the Pic on my phone for the plastic ware and says it is an item for pick up or delivery. I explained, I was in the store and picked it up. She said no, online order then pick up. I said that made no sense. I'm in the store and I clipped the coupon. That's ridiculous, so i have to order it online then pick it up at the store, but if I just go in the store and pick it up, I can't get the sale price. So I said fine ill bring the item back for a refund. It hasn't been opened. She said well how about I cut you a deal and give you $1.00 off the plastic ware and $1.50 for the bread. That's $2.50 she says. Oh my gosh what an insult is what I thought. I said no! Im not in a position to cut a deal, im a person on a budget and simply want you to honor the price as advertised. Does this woman really think im so down on my luck and desparate for $2.50 that ill simply accept that and be on my way? She acted like the $6 and change was coming out of her very own pocket! I accepted she didn't want to adjust the item and I was fine with returning it. Just completely inappropriate and belittling. It's unacceptable, Safeway! In the end she begrudgingly gave me six whole dollars and change. Wow. Now I can buy a house! Big cheat that I am. Not!!! Then she says, there you go. I collect my receipt and the money from the counter not believing I actually had to deal with this demeaning person. She just stood there, no thank you or anything of the sort came out of her mouth. This from Bob Barkers fan..."I'll make you a deal"...oh please! You know what you can do with that deal! Is $6 and some change worth losing a regular customer? 🤔

Store closes at 10 but yet on doordash it won't let me order at 9PM. I completely understand if it was 9:50 pm but 9:00? Also they always leave brest chicken out 5+ hours over the limited time they're supposed to leave it out (example : they cook it at 3pm and still have them out at 8pm instead of pulling them out and cook new ones). The only ones that pulled they're chicken is Frys.

It was the worst latte ever made in the history of lattes. Mind you not one day but three days on Oct 1,2 and 3rd . Omg they made us sick and the fact we gave them a third day was really stupid on our part. Terrible baristas . Also the sausage croissants were terrible. This PLACE SUCKS! No wonder Starbucks is losing money and customers. Terrible service terrible coffee. Shame on the owner not training them or they are too stupid to learn.

I love this place. If you shop wisely I average spending $70 saving $30 to $35. All the workers there are very helpful and friendly!

Employees are friendly, hardworking, and helpful. This poor rating is for safeway corporation digital coupons, I see it as a form of discrimination for the AGING and for people who do not have the most uptodate phone. ( aging and poor) Sending. Them elsewhere to shop. The company should remember that baby boomers are still the majority of the population , have wealth that dont embrace technology and are shopping at sprouts, trader Joe's and walmart due to the turn off off the digital coupns

So glad you hired Russ in the deli! He is the ONLY employee who has ever kept the wing bar freshly stocked. He is very personable and a great addition to the store. This store has friendly and helpful employees and I am so lucky that they are located close to my home. Keep up the good work Safeway!
