Rasar

Overview

Rasar State Park is a serene 169-acre retreat situated along the north bank of the Skagit River in Concrete, Washington. Originally a family farm, this park has transformed into a lush destination that showcases the pastoral beauty of the Skagit Valley. Visitors are greeted by a diverse landscape of second-growth forests and expansive meadows that change beautifully with the seasons. It offers a balanced mix of developed camping areas and preserved natural spaces, making it a staple for travelers exploring the North Cascades region.

Location & Surroundings

The park’s location is defined by its proximity to the Skagit River, providing guests with nearly 4,000 feet of shoreline to explore. Tucked away just off the North Cascades Highway, the surroundings are characterized by towering evergreens and the distant peaks of the Cascade Range. The environment feels secluded and peaceful, yet it remains easily accessible for those journeying through the rugged terrain of Northwest Washington. The crisp river air and the sound of the water create a calming atmosphere for any stay.

Amenities & Park Features

For RV travelers, Rasar State Park provides a well-organized layout with several key facilities designed for comfort and convenience:

  • Partial hookup sites offering water and electricity for easy setup.
  • Modern restroom and shower buildings that are regularly maintained.
  • A central on-site dump station for essential RV waste management.
  • Spacious picnic shelters and fire rings for traditional campouts.

Beyond the campsites, you will find over three miles of easy hiking trails that wind through the woods and lead down to the river’s edge. These paths are mostly flat, making them perfect for a morning stroll or a gentle bike ride through the park's interior.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the biggest draws to this area is the incredible bald eagle viewing opportunities during the winter months, as birds congregate along the riverbanks to feed. Just a short drive away, the historic town of Concrete offers a glimpse into local industrial history, while Baker Lake provides additional boating and fishing options. For those willing to drive further east, the gateway to North Cascades National Park is within reach, offering world-class hiking and some of the most dramatic alpine scenery in the United States.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal fit for nature enthusiasts and families who prefer a quiet, forest-focused camping experience over a crowded commercial resort. It is perfectly suited for RVers who enjoy bird watching, photography, or simple relaxation by the water. Because of its manageable size and flat terrain, it is also a great choice for multi-generational travelers or those traveling with children who want to explore accessible trails without the challenge of steep mountain grades.

When we were heading to Rasar State Park, it was pouring rain—honestly, the weather was wild. At one point, we had to pull over on the side of the road with the RV because we couldn’t even see ahead. But we were determined to go, and I’m so glad we did! Despite the rain and wind, the park was absolutely beautiful. There were mushrooms everywhere (you can see them in the pictures), and plenty of peaceful trails to explore. It wasn’t very crowded, which made it even better. The staff on site were super friendly, and everything was clean and well-kept. We’re already planning to come back in the spring or summer so we can take advantage of all the amenities. Even in the middle of a storm, we had a great time. I’d definitely recommend Rasar State Park for your next camping trip!

We stayed in the Coho cabin. It has a bathroom and kitchen area. Really nice campground. Very shady and full of trees. FYI, there's not much privacy between this cabin and the neighboring one. Skagit cabin is the most private. The cabin has a fridge, microwave and a k cup coffee maker. We brought a toaster. It's a quick walk down to the river. Gorgeous views. We only stay in cabins when we camp and the one constant issue is that the beds are terribly uncomfortable. We bring a full size roll-up mattress. I highly suggest you bring something similar. Even an air mattress. Full size. Other than that, this is by far the nicest state park cabin we've stayed in.

This place is so peaceful and beautiful. Mike and the rest of the staff are friendly and do an amazing job keeping everything clean. Because the park is relatively small, the hiking trails are short but enjoyable and we liked reading the interpretive signs along the way. We stayed in #20 which had this amazing green canopy of trees and lots of privacy. It’s a short walk from the campground to the rocky banks of the Skagit River.

This park is a gem. It has the cleanest bathrooms I've ever encountered at a park, and the trails are very well maintained. The hiking is sorta short, and you can do all of the hikes in an hour or two, but they are very pretty and secluded. The playground is nice, and I saw a lot of people fishing and riding bikes. It seems to be a great low maintenance park for families or for people that just want to read a book with a view.

The cabins are wonderful. The park is large and beautiful. Rangers helpful, kind and had a sense of humor. Great for river walks, kid bicycle riding and space to feel alone.

One of the best state parks anywhere, forest, moss, fields, ancient trees, elk, and the mighty still waters of the Skagit River running deep. It won't undo the troubles of the world, but will put them in perspective.

Some spots of the trails were a little muddy but that's also because it had flooded a month before but was pleasantly a nice place for a day picnic with lots of room. Definitely would go again.
