Redwood Empire Fairgrounds Vacation RV Park

Overview

The Redwood Empire Fairgrounds Vacation RV Park offers a reliable and convenient base for exploring Mendocino County. Unlike secluded forest campgrounds, this park provides a well-maintained urban layout within the fairgrounds property. It serves as a practical hub for travelers navigating the Highway 101 corridor who appreciate easy access and essential modern conveniences. It is a year-round facility that balances the utility of a fairgrounds site with the charm of Northern California’s inland valleys.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the heart of Ukiah, the park is framed by the rolling hills and renowned vineyards of the Ukiah Valley. The location provides a unique blend of semi-urban convenience and proximity to nature. Guests are just a short drive from the Russian River, which winds through the landscape nearby. While the atmosphere is centered around the fairgrounds activity, the surrounding vistas of the coastal range provide a beautiful backdrop during sunset, making it a peaceful stopover in a scenic agricultural region.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for efficiency and comfort, offering full hookup sites that accommodate both 30 and 50-amp electrical needs. The sites are generally level, featuring a mix of asphalt and gravel surfaces that cater to various rig sizes. Visitors have access to clean restroom and shower facilities, which are essential for those traveling without on-board amenities. The park is fully gated for added security and includes wireless internet access, ensuring travelers can stay connected while planning the next leg of their journey.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Exploring Ukiah is effortless from this central location. Nature lovers can head to Lake Mendocino for boating and hiking or visit the majestic Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve to see ancient redwoods. For a cultural experience, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is a must-visit nearby landmark. Additionally, the region is famous for its world-class wineries and tasting rooms, many of which are located just minutes from the fairgrounds, offering a true taste of Northern California’s liquid gold.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for transit-oriented RVers looking for a secure, no-fuss place to park while passing through Northern California. It is particularly well-suited for big-rig owners who need easy maneuvering and reliable utilities. Because of its location within Ukiah, it also appeals to travelers who prefer being close to grocery stores, local dining, and regional events. It is a fantastic option for those who want a functional home base while spending their days exploring the Mendocino coast and wine country.

I usually go to the fair grounds for the races, Monster Trucks, boat races, and the fairs. But they hold other events as well. I was just there for Zoppe Family Circus.

Friendly staff. Sites are mostly pull through with full hookups; water, electricity 20 amp 30 amp 50 amp, and black & gray water dump at most sites. Priced very reasonablely. Does intown RV park within the fairgrounds is very convenient for when we come up from Southern California to visit with family. Additionally, if you're driving through town and are looking for a RV dump, they have accommodations for you at a reasonable price.

Park Host is very nice and funny. Very nice bathrooms, clean. Very quiet place to stay. I will be back for another stay. Just know they fill-up spaces fast because of the excellent prices.

We’ve had a great stay. This is an affordable option for visiting the redwoods or for work. Beautiful view of the mountains. The campground staff runs a tight ship but we appreciated it because we have 2 small babies and wouldn’t want cars speeding through.

We stayed for two nights! The on site host was very friendly and helpful. The sites are clean and grass mowed and we had full hook ups. Being so close to the freeway and in town I was surprised how quiet it was during the night . We even had our windows open! I did not use the shower or restroom so I can’t comment on it. I definitely will stay here again !🚐

The park was easy to find. It is located not far off of highway 101. There is pavement all the way including the park. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. Our site, D, was a Pull Through that was long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp, water and sewer) were to the left side. Distancing is very close. There is no foliage barriers between sites. It is slide to awning. There are no tables or fire pit. Our site was flat and even dirt with a sprinkling of gravel here and there. The included wifi internet worked reasonable well with a log in password. We did find a few OTA channels but all came in fuzzy. Satellite should not be difficult because there are very few trees. We did not use the washrooms or pay showers and could not check them as they were closed die to COVID. Within easy walking distance is a KFC and a Taco Bell. Other options are with in a quick drive. We found this park to be a well run, tight urban RV park. We paid $37.00 including a Good Sam discount per night and we feel we received fair value. This is okay for an overnighter. We would be back if in the area again.

They've done a great job accommodating all the first responders dosing the August Fire Complex. I'm here visiting to provide care. Everyone has been welcoming
