River West Resort

River West Resort began as Chism's Auto Camp in the summer of 1927 as a campground consisting of campsites, a large kitchen tent, a boathouse, gas station, and convenience store. Later, 8 motel units and 16 cold water cabins with an adjoining bathhouse were added. After WWII some of the property was set up with modular house units to house veterans coming back from war and using the GI Bill to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. The GI housing made way for more permanent mobile home spaces. In 1958, even more trailer spaces were added by developing a vacant lot that had long served as a stomping ground for local kids.

We had a very lovely two and a half week stay here. We were in a beautiful river-front site that we enjoyed very much. The resort has a beautiful common patio and park area on the river which was very conducive to meeting others staying in the resort, which we enjoyed. We would definitely stay here again when back in Reno. It’s an easy walk into the center of Reno and down along the river front parks from the resort. There is a farmers market across the river every Sunday and lots of other events downtown to enjoy. The sites are gravel and sand, and not very level, and I would recommend the resort upgrade to a concrete pad to match the price being charged. But certainly the river front sites are much more generous in space and have a beautiful aspect compared the sites in the middle of the park.

I don't know if it is the new owner or the wonderful management at River West Resort but when I read OLD reviews it was like a different park. I never saw or felt anything that made me feel unsafe in the RV park or on the street out front. The trees and beautiful sitting areas, especially the river front one made me forget I was in downtown Reno. Although the sites are tight, they always helped accommodate with your vehicles. I truly felt like I was relaxing in an RV park. It was very unlike the gravel parking lot that GSR calls an RV park. Thank you! To the friendliest, hardest working people I have met in an RV park for a very long time. Here's to HAN 2026 Theresa C

Extremely friendly and helpful staff! Every time we ran into staff, they greeted us with a friendly wave and smile! They go around in carts to make sure everything is running smoothly. We had an issue with bees and they came within 5 minutes to help resolve the issue. Everything is clean and there are cute areas to sit and relax in. Packages were able to be delivered and some areas had private gates. There weren’t any issues with any homeless people by the river (we never even seen any homeless people at the river like other comments we read). It’s located near grocery stores, gas stations, and fast food places. We’re definitely coming back again.

We stayed at the Sapphire in July and it was all we expected it to be and more. The pictures online were exactly what the cottage looked like. Becca was wonderful. She answered my many, many questions and phone calls. She was pleasant and helpful throughout the many times I called and I emailed her. I am not sure how much Becca is making but I can guarantee that it is not enough. She is a true asset to River West Resort. If we visit Reno again, we will definitely stay there.

Awesome Spot – Feels Like Home! River West Resort is such a great place. The management is super friendly, always helpful, and really makes sure everything runs smoothly. The whole vibe is welcoming and relaxed. The location is super convenient — close to town but still peaceful with a beautiful riverfront. The riverfront spots are really nice, especially if you want the view and easy access to the water. But if privacy is more your thing, the fully fenced-in spaces are the best — super cozy and perfect if you’ve got pets or just want your own space. Everything’s clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully set up. Definitely a place worth checking out, whether for a quick trip or a longer stay. Can’t recommend it enough!

Good place for long stay people or just for 1 night. They have a river right behind, but you can only watch, can't enjoy. Their shower and toilets were very nice and clean. The staff and the owner all are very nice and helpful. It's in the city side so this is more your rv park than the camping site. We were looking for a camping site by the river but it was not like the place we were looking so most probably we will not go back again but this place was nice and good so 4 stars for the place and team who is handling everything.

Just want to say what a nice RV park this is to stay at. Staff was awesome Rebecca helped us relocate to a much better spot that would accommodate our bigger trailer even getting us closer to the beautiful Truckee River. Simon helped us get backed in and even helped me get my motorcycle unloaded from the ramp. Bathrooms are very clean I can tell they keep the park up really nice. They were even trimming trees when we got here. Highly recommend.

We stayed here a week while we visited Reno for the first time. We give it a 3.5, which is in between the "It's OK" and " We Liked It". Here's why... Some good things about RWR 1. The owner saw us making the wrong turn everyone seems to make of following Google maps, and not even knowing we were coming, chased us down to help us get to the place. 2. Staff was all very friendly (even the maintenance men that were working the premises daily) 3. The River is a great asset, just sitting by it daily was a great R&R time and space 4. Owners are doing lots of new work, and we'd def be open to return one day and see how it all turns out - it looks like it's going to be nice 5. We were in spot #204 but since #205 was decommissioned we were told to park and use that spot as well, this helped us not feel as tight as it could have 6. Conveniently located to all we wanted to explore while in Reno, esp the amazing park across the River (Idlewild Park, OMG what a great park! We did a review on that all on its own!) Things that aren't so great 1. Sand! Thankfully we had an outdoor rug, but even still, the amount of sand in the rig all day 🥺 And with a pet, it's impossible to stay sandless 2. No dog area, our poor pup is used to using grass and we had to keep telling her to stay off the only grass on site, yet there's no real designated place? 3. Laundry only uses coins (while most are apps now and that's easier) 4. Spots are closer together than many may like 5. If you're not in a River spot (higher price tag) you don't have any good views (our main view was their garage/tool shed that maintenance are in-out of all day) 6. No amenities (though they may be coming?) See why it falls in-between 3-4⭐ We loved seeing Reno and we're glad we enjoyed our time. Thanks RWR

convenient location (smack dab in the city), clean restrooms/showers, right on the truckee river with nice outdoor seating for contemplation, friendly owners, inexpensive laundry machines. definitely will stay here next time we pass through reno. stayed here 5 nights this trip.

We just completed our 2nd stay in the 'tiny home' cottages at River West Resort. The cottages are well appointed, newer, clean, and a very cozy alternative to hotels. The grounds are peaceful, nicely landscaped, and a very pleasant alternative to a hotel room. I would stay the RWR cottages again in a heartbeat.
