Riverside Campground
Overview
Located in the heart of the Driftless Area, Riverside Campground offers a tranquil setting directly along the Lower Wisconsin River. This municipal park provides a scenic backdrop for travelers seeking a connection with nature and a gateway to southwestern Wisconsin. Managed by the Village of Muscoda, the grounds are well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable environment where visitors can enjoy the gentle flow of the river and the lush greenery of the region.
Location & Surroundings
The campground is situated in Muscoda, famously known as the Morel Mushroom Capital of Wisconsin. The surrounding landscape is defined by the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway, a protected corridor that offers miles of undeveloped river banks and sandy islands. This location is perfect for those who appreciate a slower pace of life, surrounded by rolling hills and the unique geological formations that make this area a standout destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is rich in natural beauty and small-town charm.
Amenities & Park Features
Guests will find a variety of camping options, including sites equipped with electric and water hookups. The park features a convenient boat launch for those looking to get out on the water, as well as a popular nine-hole disc golf course. Families often appreciate the proximity to the local swimming pool and the clean shower facilities available on-site. The shaded sites provide relief during warm summer months, and the park also includes a playground and a historic Victorian gazebo for community gatherings.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with exceptional opportunities for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking right from the park. A short drive takes visitors to the world-renowned House on the Rock or Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin in nearby Spring Green. Local shops and eateries in downtown Muscoda are within walking distance, offering a taste of local culture. During the spring, the area becomes a hub for mushroom hunters, while the autumn months offer spectacular foliage tours through the river valley.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is an ideal choice for paddlers and anglers who want immediate access to the water. It is also well-suited for budget-conscious families looking for a classic camping experience with plenty of space for children to explore. If you prefer a peaceful, community-oriented atmosphere over a high-traffic commercial resort, you will find this park to be a refreshing destination. It is a favorite for those attending local festivals or touring the scenic highways of the Wisconsin River valley.

Beautiful campgrounds right on the river. $25 with electric, $10 for tents in the park area. Boat dock is on site. Make a rez if you want a site closest to the river. Bathrooms are nice but the $2 pay showers can be dicey. Might eat up your money before you can get the temp set! Sometimes a local comes around selling firewood. Overall, very nice.

Beautiful campground on the Wisconsin River. We camped on a slow Sunday and had the place all to ourselves. Both phone numbers listed to purchase firewood are disconnected so be aware before you arrive. There also isnt a pay box for the camp sites so try to pay in advance. If you arrive without a reservation then the lady comes by every so often to collect money.

Very nice, quiet, clean campground. Large sites, we were on the river site 1, Didn’t use any facilities besides the site. Around the area was very picturesque,we went to the house on the rocks (review on trip advisor)while there, on our way traveling to South Dakota. Would highly recommend, will use again when traveling this way.
