Riverside Park

Overview

Riverside Park offers a peaceful retreat along the banks of the Lemonweir River in Juneau County. This city-managed destination provides a blend of outdoor recreation and convenient access for those traveling through central Wisconsin. It is characterized by its lush green spaces and a quiet, community-focused atmosphere that serves as a refreshing alternative to high-traffic commercial resorts. The park balances natural beauty with local history, making it a staple for regional campers seeking a genuine Wisconsin outdoor experience.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in the heart of New Lisbon, positioned perfectly for travelers utilizing the I-90/94 corridor. Despite its proximity to major highways, the site feels secluded due to the heavy timber and the winding river path. The surrounding area is dominated by the Lemonweir River watershed, which provides a scenic backdrop of tall pines and hardwood forests. This geographical positioning offers excellent bird-watching opportunities and a sense of isolation while remaining just minutes away from local grocery stores and downtown services.

Amenities & Park Features

Visitors will find essential facilities designed for comfort and convenience during their stay. The campground offers electric hookups for RVs, alongside communal water spigots and a centralized dump station. Families often enjoy the spacious playground equipment and the designated swimming area. For recreation, the park includes a well-regarded disc golf course and several picnic shelters that are perfect for gathering. The restroom and shower facilities are maintained by the city, ensuring a comfortable environment for those without full on-board amenities.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Water activities are the primary draw here, with an on-site boat launch and fishing piers providing easy access to the river. Anglers often target panfish and bass right from the shore. Just a short drive away, travelers can explore Castle Rock Lake, Wisconsin’s fourth-largest inland lake, or take a day trip to the famous Wisconsin Dells. The nearby Omaha Trail also provides miles of paved paths for biking and hiking through the scenic landscape of Juneau County, offering a glimpse into the region's diverse ecosystem.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for nature-loving families and solo travelers looking for a budget-friendly, scenic stopover. It appeals most to those who prefer a laid-back camping experience over the hustle and bustle of large waterpark resorts. If you enjoy waking up to the sound of birds and having direct access to a quiet waterway for paddling or fishing, this park fits your travel style perfectly. It is also an excellent base for explorers who want to see central Wisconsin attractions while staying in a calm, forested environment.

I didn't personally stay here, however my in laws did. They don't have rooms, it's campsites. But the hosts of the campground are absolutely great! Polite, answers any questions. Makes sure your stay is going good! Definitely recommend to everyone!

$30 for 30 amp & water. Grass spot facing the river. I'm next to a pavilion with a dozen picnic tables. Space 47 (probably loud if group was using pavilion, but fine for me on a rainy Sunday. Commulal dump station.

It's a beautiful campground, quiet but with kind folks running it. Every camper we met was also kind and friendly. The water around the campground is calm and sizeable enough for paddle boarding, yet the mosquitoes aren't bad even in mid-July. And the bathrooms were so well-maintained!

Very nice place to overnight on a long haul. Easy access off the interstate. We remained hitched. 50amp and water at our site. Stretched our legs with a nice walk around the lake on a groomed path. Saw beaver, geese, birds. People fishing with some good luck. Husband said his morning shower was clean with hot water. Kim the park host was very nice and helpful. Dump station in good working order. Safe travels to all.

Very nice small park on the skirt of the town. We had 50 Amp plug ins which worked great for our 40' trailer Showers were really spacious and clean. Had a nice walking trail which put us 1 block from Kwik Trip. Quite a few pavilions and a playground. Had a boat launch too.

The set up is nice especially if there is a group of people who like to RV (motorhome) together as the spots are close. They do have a dump site but not at the site you park so no water hook up either. (this is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). They have clean bathrooms however. They have a small playground for young children. And it's right by the lake. They watch out for each other's safety and are on top of any suspicious behavior seen. The owner/staff was very friendly and answered any questions and even helped in parking the RV in site. Very nice place and we will be returning.
