Robert Newlon RV Park

Overview

Robert Newlon RV Park offers a distinct camping experience situated directly along the banks of the Ohio River. Known for its unique blend of riverside relaxation and aviation history, this park provides a memorable backdrop that sets it apart from standard campgrounds. Travelers will find a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere where the gentle flow of the river meets the occasional hum of light aircraft from the on-site private airstrip.

Location & Surroundings

Located just north of downtown Huntington, West Virginia, the park is nestled in a scenic area where the water is the primary focus. The property sits on a wide, navigable stretch of the Ohio River, offering campers expansive views and a refreshing sense of openness. Its position provides easy access to the urban charms of the Tri-State area, making it a convenient home base for exploring the intersection of West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped for modern RVers, offering full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service. Spacious pull-through sites are available to accommodate big rigs and larger motorhomes without the stress of tight maneuvering. Interesting place and ok for 1 night. We saw a skydiver while here and ate at the restaurant which was very good. Our site barely fit us. More like a parking spot than a campsite. It was full hook up. The water pressure was terrible. It looks like a lot of people have permanent rvs.

Park was nice and it had all the necessities if you are looking for full hook ups. The road to the park is a little narrow but traffic is light. Inside the park there are a lot of pot holes so drive slowly. The sites are pretty tight and it feels like you are encroaching on your neighbors space when connecting water, electricity, and sewage. It's really nice to be adjacent to the airfield. We were able to watch skydivers parachuting all morning. Very nice. We camped at Robert Newlon Airpark RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is amazing! It has something to do for everyone including pets! The Fly in Cafe is superb and you get to watch skydivers to boot

What a find! Not only is it a great little RV park with lots of friendly campers good size sites that are level with full hookups, it's also an airport, as well as a great seafood restaurant and an entertainment venue with an amazing stage facing a grassy hill! Last night they had a free outdoor concert with seven Bridges one of the best eagles tribute bands out of Nashville. Later in the week there's going to be a bluegrass concert. Too bad we couldn't hang around for that one too. But last night was amazing! We grabbed our lawn chairs and hung out and listen to the whole concert had a great time. The restaurant was packed and they even had a warm-up band for the first couple hours before the main event. I would highly recommend anyone coming through Huntington to spend a few nights at this amazing location. Oh and if you have a mind to there's also a skydiving drop zone. Or if you like you can take a ride in a biplane.

Great place for overnight stay. Quiet, not too far off the highway. No trees.

Great place to hangout on a weekend afternoon and watch parachuting. Restaurant on site is excellent! Rv park clean and well maintained.

I've never camped here, it's an rv park so not my vibe. The disc golf course is fun and challenging but needs finished pads of some sort. The restaurant is pretty decent, I liked the burger I had. People who work there have been very friendly when I've talked to them. I don't jump out of planes but you can do that here to. It's a bit of a smorgasbord of options.

This is an RV park that as an adjunct to the airport. It seems definitely an afterthought, and its residents are mostly full-time residents. I would imagine on the nights that the restaurant is open, it would be a lively place, much different than my experience. Essentially it is a gravel parking lot with some grass tight spots and pretty much a parking lot. The bathrooms were good, relatively clean, and relatively spacious.
