Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort

Overview

Rock Crusher Canyon RV Resort offers a unique landscape in Florida’s Nature Coast. Situated on high ground within a former rock quarry, the resort provides a secluded and wooded atmosphere that feels worlds away from the typical flat coastal terrain. It is known for its spacious sites and lush vegetation, making it a premier destination for those seeking a tranquil retreat while remaining close to the aquatic wonders and manatee habitats of Crystal River.

Location & Surroundings

The resort is located just minutes from the heart of Crystal River, Florida, an area famous for its pristine spring-fed waters. Unlike many coastal parks, this resort sits at a higher elevation, providing a sense of privacy and natural beauty. The surrounding area is characterized by dense forests and rolling hills, offering a quiet environment where travelers can enjoy the sounds of nature without the noise of heavy traffic or urban congestion.

Guests at Rock Crusher Canyon enjoy several high-quality facilities designed for comfort. The park features a large screened-in swimming pool, perfect for cooling off during warm afternoons. These practical amenities ensure a pleasant stay for every RVer:

  • Full hookup sites offer both 30 and 50-amp service.
  • Clean, modern bathhouses and laundry facilities are available.
  • A spacious clubhouse hosts various social gatherings.
  • A fenced-in dog run welcomes four-legged travelers.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw of the area is the opportunity to swim with manatees at Three Sisters Springs or King’s Bay. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy world-class kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing in the crystal-clear waters of the Nature Coast. During the summer months, scalloping in the Gulf of Mexico is a popular local pastime. For a change of pace, nearby wildlife parks offer views of native species like Florida panthers, manatees, and alligators in their natural habitats.

Who This Park Is Best For

This resort is an ideal choice for nature lovers and retirees who appreciate a quiet, well-organized park with plenty of shade. It caters well to big-rig owners who need extra space and winter travelers looking for a community-oriented environment. Way overpriced, shower houses could use renovations, pool closes way to early, our site098A was an afterthought roots from trees and bushes made the lot uneven and was not enjoyable to sit out, and it was very close to the road and you could hear all the big trucks going by. I’m pretty sure I won’t be staying here again.

I've been here about two months and we like it here. I currently live here in my camper with my family. Its calm clean and kept up nice. I love there no partying going on. I love how quit it is most the time. I take my dog for her walks and at times with my family.

We spent 2 days there, but we booked for three nights. We left early because there is nothing to do at this park. You can ride your bike through the whole place in less than 30 minutes. The problem is we thought it was an RV resort, but it is a trailer park. Almost the entire occupancy are residents. They do a good job of keeping the grounds clean, but there are also numerous trailers and 5th wheels with trash all around them. They should be more up front on their web page and let people know it is a trailer park, not a resort.

We stayed at this park on a cross-country RV trip. Excellent location for those looking to do a manatee excursion like we were, as it’s very close. Beautiful park with tons of shade. Very narrow roads though and many of the sites had us scratching our heads on how people manage to get an RV in there. Pool and bath houses are very well maintained. Wish we could have spent more time here. Very friendly folks.

We enjoyed our 6 day stay at Sun Retreats Crystal River. We had site 73. It is very wooded and near the shower room. Showers are kept cool and each shower had its own toilet. WiFi was good and allowed us to watch TV on YouTube TV. Town and many restaurants are within 7 miles. Previous reviews complained about homeless issues and packages stolen but we saw none of that and ordered Amazon and the driver delivered it to our door. Gates were always shut. We hope to visit again.

Had an absolute amazing family vacation! The cabin was cute and cozy. Equipped with everything we needed. Location was great and close to all the things! They were also very responsive and respectful even with someone like me who just always has a lot of question ☺️ thank you so much we will be back!!

Didn’t feel safe. No security available at night, despite being told it was secured. The gates aren’t closed. Because of the gates not closed and no security, homeless people occupy the public bathrooms and wander the park during the night who would leave messes and harass paying park members. Packages are stolen from the office despite being told they’d be secured. Do not live here. Be vary cautious and careful if you are just visiting.

The pool was nice and clean despite a bit of screen repair needed. The Hot tub is out of order. Spoke to other people it's been out of order for a while. The overall RV resort is very pleasant, welcoming and clean. Few notes they do have a fence in dog run. They have a playground. No workout room is a bummer.
