Route 66 RV Park

Overview

Route 66 RV Park offers a quiet and convenient resting point for travelers exploring the historic Mother Road. Located in the high desert of New Mexico, this park provides a relaxed atmosphere far enough from the hustle of the city to feel peaceful, yet close enough for easy access to modern conveniences. Visitors often appreciate the clean facilities and the genuine Southwestern hospitality that defines this unique stretch of the country. It is a place where you can truly unwind after a long day of driving through the desert landscape.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Edgewood, just east of Albuquerque, the park sits at an elevation that offers slightly cooler temperatures and stunning panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains. The surrounding landscape features classic high-desert flora and expansive blue skies that transform into spectacular sunsets every evening. Its location just off Interstate 40 makes it an incredibly convenient stop for those traversing the state, providing a scenic and accessible gateway to the Land of Enchantment without the noise of the metropolitan center.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is thoughtfully laid out to accommodate a wide variety of rigs, featuring spacious full hookup sites equipped with both 30 and 50 amp service. Most sites are level gravel pull-thrus, making this a big-rig friendly destination for even the largest motorhomes and fifth wheels. Guests have access to essential on-site facilities, including climate-controlled laundry rooms, private showers, and a community clubhouse for gathering. The inclusion of reliable Wi-Fi and dedicated pet areas ensures a comfortable stay for both human travelers and their furry companions.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the Wildlife West Nature Park, which is located just a short drive away and features native rescued wildlife in a natural setting. For a different perspective, the Sandia Peak Tramway provides breathtaking views of the Albuquerque skyline and the Rio Grande Valley from over 10,000 feet. Exploring the Historic Route 66 corridor reveals local artisan shops, vintage diners, and the unique Tinkertown Museum, offering plenty of cultural entertainment within a short drive of the campground.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent choice for cross-country travelers and dedicated Route 66 enthusiasts who need a reliable and well-maintained home base. It is particularly well-suited for retirees and solo travelers who value a peaceful environment and easy highway navigation over high-activity resort settings. If you are looking for a secure, friendly, and quiet place to park your rig while exploring the wonders of central New Mexico, this park will certainly meet your travel needs.

Friendly, charming little place! I swung by today and was greeted by Jenee at the front office. She was extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve seen a lot of RV parks throughout the years and this one is one of the cleanest. Great location right off I-40 and amenities are great as well.

Office manager was super friendly and made it no problem at all to change sites after realizing our rig was too big for the original one. Sites are big, level and clean. The dog parks are a nice amenity, and the grills, fire ring, and picnic table in most sites is nice too. Only critique is there are only 2 showers and they are also bathrooms.

Very nice and friendly in the office but dog park was weeds, spot was very uneven. I don’t know where that beautiful grassy area with the shepherd was but it was nowhere near this place, the pictures don’t represent the park. Next time I’ll stay at the loves in Santa Rosa.

The campground's a good camp girl. People here are nice. The water sucks but other than that the campground's great. Not that far from stores or anything. Stay there 2 days to relax but I meant by the water. It's just that it's hard water. You got to have good filters in your RV to keep it going. Good put on that. Me and my family love it. My granddaughter loves it to death and it's good when you have your dogs too cuz they got all the little places for your dogs here. It might not be luxury, but it is comfortable if you feel like you're at home 💯👍👍 oh yeah I almost forgot to put in. They have a food truck on site here

We stayed here for 1 night while passing through. We entered after dark and easily found our info at registration and got set up. It is close to the highway but the noise didn’t bother us. Everyone got a warm shower in the morning before we moved on. Good stopping point!

I stayed here for 2 months. Overall this is a pretty nice RV park. It's safe and other then some ambient noise from the interstate it is reasonably quiet. They have propane service, you can leave the empty tanks out during the day when you go to work, and they'll fill them and have them back at your site when you come home. They also have a laundry area that's cheaper then the Laundromat which was nice. Our site has everything we needed and all hookups worked properly. The only downside was we had some plumbing problems with our RV and wound up having to use their facilities for a few days. Management tries to keep them up, but they could use a couple more bathrooms/ showers. There are just more people then 2 bathrooms can support. Overall I would totally recommend setting up your RV here. It's a decent RV park, it's in a safe place, and the management is good.

Ended up staying here unexpectedly after some delays had our arrival time at the RV park we planned to stay at originally at 11pm. It was super easy to find an available site thanks to the labeled boxes outside the office (closed by the time we got there). Nice, clean showers and hot water. Free wifi was slow but that wasn't a huge deal for us. So happy we found this place!

Route 66 RV park was a pleasant surprise at every turn. My partner and I stopped by to check prices and found an extremely friendly staff who quoted a very reasonable price on a week stay. They don't serve breakfast or coffee but they do have a selection of snacks and odd & ends such as toys, t-shirts and various camping needs for sale. The sites were level and well maintained and even though our corner site was up the hill from Hwy 40 and the traffic noise was a bit loud in the daytime it was still perfect for our small rig and included a picnic table, water, septic and cable connections. The combined laundry room and shower house was small but the water heater stayed hot even while serving 2 washing machines and 2 showers at the same time. They are pet friendly with 2 dog parks available for your pupper to get exercise and a playground for the kiddos next to a group pavilion. Taking a short hike up the hill you will find The Red Arrow Bbq truck, ready to cook up delicious bbq and burgers (the brisket mac & cheese is Amazing!) and don't forget to get an ice cream cone for dessert! There is plenty of outdoor table seating, the food was piping hot and the service was fast. We will definitely stay here whenever we're heading to Albuquerque.

Great place to stay. Stopped here last minute after getting caught in terrible weather. Lois and the rest of the staff were awesome and accommodated a late checkout the following day to wait out the weather. Laundry and showers were both perfect. HUGE sites. Easy pull in, even after dark in a blizzard. We will definitely be back.

Very very very good RV park. Move in was simple and ez. When situations arrived (very little) problems were solved immediately. Park was always clean and management was always friendly and professional. I will be back for sure just to revisit. Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and they have the best bbq brisket in town. Absolutely loved staying here!!
