Seven Lakes

Overview

Seven Lakes State Park offers a serene escape within Southeast Michigan, spanning over 1,400 acres of diverse terrain including farmland, rolling hills, and wetlands. The park is named for the interconnected lakes that provide a scenic backdrop for campers throughout the year. It offers a modern campground that caters specifically to RVers looking for a peaceful retreat without sacrificing essential electrical comforts and access to nature. The atmosphere is tranquil, making it a favorite for those wanting to escape the noise of urban life.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the charming community of Holly, MI, the park is conveniently located between Flint and Detroit, making it an ideal weekend getaway for locals and travelers alike. The landscape is characterized by its lush woodlands and the shimmering waters of Big Seven Lake, which is the largest of the park's water bodies. Visitors often appreciate the immediate transition from the surrounding suburban areas to the quiet natural beauty found within the park's expansive and well-maintained boundaries.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground features 71 sites equipped with 20/30/50 amp electrical service, accommodating various RV sizes and setups. While the park maintains its rustic charm, it provides essential modern restrooms and showers for a comfortable stay. For recreation, travelers have access to a sandy swimming beach, multiple boat launches, and over six miles of trails perfect for hiking or mountain biking. The park's designated fishing piers are also popular spots for catching bass, pike, and panfish in the clear lake waters.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park gates, the historic Village of Holly offers unique boutique shopping and local dining experiences that reflect the area's rich history. During the late summer and early autumn, the Michigan Renaissance Festival is a major regional draw located just minutes away from the campground. Nature lovers can also explore the nearby Holly State Recreation Area or visit Mt. Holly for seasonal skiing and snowboarding if visiting during the transition into the colder winter months.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is perfect for family campers and outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy water activities and trail exploration. It is particularly well-suited for RVers who prefer a quiet, state park atmosphere with plenty of space between sites rather than a crowded commercial resort experience. If you are looking for a place to unplug and enjoy paddling or fishing while remaining close to Southeast Michigan's conveniences, Seven Lakes provides an excellent balance for your next trip.

I love this park! The trails are challenging and clearly marked. The trails are also maintained. There are plenty of lake views. Stunning!

Small campground on small lake- just one loop. And only one dump station! Lot's of trails to explore. Fantastic park for kayaking & fishing!

I love this quiet little campground. I say little but there's 70 sites, all electric. My favorite campground worker is Nikki, she's wonderful. It was a peaceful night of crickets and a beautiful morning to wake up to.

The park itself is quite beautiful and peaceful. However, I was disappointed to see dog waste scattered all over the grass near the water. It seems many dog owners are letting their pets roam freely without cleaning up after them, which really takes away from the overall experience.

This is such a quaint and beautiful state park. It is a little smaller than I thought but has some beautiful spots for photos. This is my second time coming here to photograph engagement portraits and it didn't let me down. I am looking forward to coming back here in the future again.

Boat launch is convenient and well maintained. Lakes are quiet and ideal for kayaking/paddle boarding. The entire road from the entrance all through the park is in dire need of repair - lots of potholes.

The state park campground is located near a very pretty little lake ( five stars) however the roadways of the campground are extremely crowded and the sites very close to each other. The roadways can get to the point of not being able to drive to your site with a trailer in tow. No privacy at all. Having some more mature staff may help enforce the rules. The staff were pleasant but very young .

Always wonderful and excellent with dogs. Great trails through the woods that are intermediate and beautiful. It's a calming and peaceful place to hike or even camp during the summer season. In the winter, the campgrounds are closed and it's nice to hike the space and even have a fire in one of the fire pits.

We had a lake access site on Sand Lake, nothing too impressive. Our site was spacious, no shade, and sloped towards the lake. This campground is quite small with only 71 sites, but roomy enough. The showers are clean, but the water smelled fishy. This is another large park with lots of recreation available. We didn't visit Big Seven Lake, it was confirmed to have ecoli. Dickinson Lake was nice, we didn't see or catch any fish, but it's a peaceful sort of lake. There's a few picnic shelters and a huge beach.

First time coming here and it was nice. Very clean and spacious. There’s a fake beach you can swim and enjoy with your family. Very nice place to bring your family and kids here to bbq. I see people fishing here as well and there is a boat launch on the other side. My kids had fun on the swing but they didn’t have a playground.
