Shady Grove Campground
Overview
Shady Grove Campground offers a peaceful retreat for travelers navigating the expansive Eastern Colorado plains along the Interstate 70 corridor. Known for its namesake mature trees, this park provides a welcome **canopy of shade** in a region often characterized by open, sunny horizons. It serves as a reliable and tranquil resting spot for those looking to escape the highway noise while enjoying a simplified, well-maintained environment that emphasizes rest and relaxation.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the quiet town of Seibert, Colorado, the park is perfectly positioned for cross-country travelers looking for a mid-point stop. The surrounding landscape consists of **rolling agricultural fields** and vast prairie vistas that define the High Plains experience. While the park is conveniently close to the highway for easy access, the atmosphere remains surprisingly quiet, offering a distinct **rural charm** that allows guests to experience the slower pace of life in a small farming community.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features level **pull-through sites** designed to accommodate larger rigs without the need for unhooking, making arrivals and departures seamless. Guests have access to essential utilities including:
- Full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electrical service.
- Clean, private **restroom and shower facilities**.
- On-site laundry equipment for long-term travelers.
The abundant shade provided by the established trees makes it a comfortable spot even during the heat of the summer, a feature that sets it apart from many other desert and prairie parks in the region.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While Seibert is a small community, the surrounding area offers unique glimpses into local history and nature. Visitors can take a short drive to see the **Kit Carson County Carousel** in nearby Stratton or explore the **Flagler Reservoir State Wildlife Area** for birdwatching and peaceful walks. The open roads nearby are perfect for enjoying spectacular sunsets and world-class stargazing, as the lack of urban light pollution provides an incredibly clear view of the night sky for evening relaxation.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal match for **long-distance travelers** and retirees who need a safe, quiet, and shaded place to park for the night or a few days. It appeals most to those who prefer a **low-key atmosphere** over the high-energy environment of a typical vacation resort. Because of its straightforward layout and spacious sites, it is a preferred choice for big-rig owners and nomadic travelers seeking a reliable, no-fuss stopover while traversing the Colorado plains.

I've had the pleasure of staying at Shady Grove several times, and I'm looking forward to my upcoming stay. The dog park is large, safely enclosed, and well-maintained, so I always feel like my fur baby gets a nice stay too. The staff are helpful and kind, and the owners are the absolute best. The spots are roomy. Everything is clean and works well. Easy to access laundry on site was a big bonus for me. It's a lovely quiet spot.

Cute little campground with pretty level sites, full hookups available and great on-site facilities. Emily in the office was amazing. I had a bit of an unpredictable travel schedule and she was kind, courteous, accommodating and was always ready to help with a smile! Only thing I will note: despite the town being pretty small and quiet, for some reason if you are placed in a site near one of the roads, be prepared for a surprising amount of road noise from a car driving by every 15-30 minutes, all night long. It's not more than a fan could drown out, but still a bit unexpected in an otherwise sleepy town. If you're traveling on I70, this is an excellent stop and the next time I'm headed back this way, I'll certainly be back!

This is a great little cg in eastern CO right off i-70. The owners are very nice and the facilities are clean. We were only planning to stay one night, but found it so relaxing we stayed 2. Sites have fhu and are small gravel. Price is $40/nt. Their wifi is good and the cell service is decent. No grocery store in town, so get what you need before you come. Coin washers and dryers are available in the restroom bldg.

We stayed at this campground for 16 nights. It is in the middle of a very small, quiet town. The owners are very nice and we were pleasantly surprised to find a dog park. We really appreciated how considerate the man who cuts the grass was. He notified us he would be using an electric lawn mower near our campsite and he was concerned he might scare our dogs. The campground is older but well maintained. They have a resident cat, James, who is very friendly. They also allow you to receive packages at no charge. (May/June 2024)

The camp ground is basic but great! Friendly service, very clean bathrooms, very clean sites. Prices are reasonable. (The previous night we stayed in Kansas City East Oak Grove KOA and it was expensive and very bad vibes. Grey water running through some sites with soggy astro turf 😖). At Shady Grove, there is a clean dog park for your pup. We walked around the town and it was interesting. Friendly people around. Washer/dryer, coffee in the a.m. We were traveling in our camper van and pulling a U-Haul trailer. This was a nice, safe, secure, clean place to stay. Thank you!

Very easy stop on I-70, great quiet rv park. Owner is very nice and helpful. We have stayed here 2 times and would definitely stay here again. Nothing in town so make sure you’re set for the evening once you get there. You turn in on a dirt road with houses on both sides across from the post office and keep going down past the first part of the rv park to where the blue building is. Pull in and around to the front of the blue buildings to where the office is.

We reserved a basic tent site, but when we arrived they told us no fires, and the low was 32° that night. So we paid a bit extra (not more than we would've spent on firewood anyway) and rented their little cabin for the night. 2 twin beds made with warm bedding, a fridge/freezer larger and nicer than most hotels', a microwave, and two heaters (one of which we never had to turn on). The bathrooms were maybe 100' away...had 2 locking rooms that each had a toilet, sink, and large standing shower; as well as $2 washer/dryers in the entry. It was a little strange to be in town, with houses facing the campground...but we were warm and comfortable and had a great stay!

This would be a great place to come to rejuvenate or to write a book! Shady Grove Campground is a quaint RV park about 1/2 mile North of I-70. Oddly, you do not hear the highway sounds. It's location, Seibert, CO population is 142! It's such a cute location. Peace and quiet must be your main agenda item because the town is quiet. So, make sure the refrigerator is stocked. Owners hospitality is wonderful. Full hookups works well. Each area has a picnic table. The camp size is big enough to park a large rig and truck plus your picnic area. Great for stop over or for multi day stay. I plan to visit again.

It's not a park like setting with gorgeous views, but very nicely laid out, clean, with the requisite services, and attentive management.
