Sky Ute Fairgrounds & RV Park
Overview
The Sky Ute Fairgrounds & RV Park offers a unique and spacious camping experience in the heart of Ignacio, Colorado. Owned and operated by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, this facility serves as a vital hub for regional events while providing reliable accommodations for traveling RVers. It successfully combines the practical utility of a fairground with the rich cultural heritage of the area, making it a distinctive and welcoming stop for those exploring the scenic Four Corners region.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the rolling landscapes of Southwest Colorado, the park provides a gateway to the high desert and the nearby San Juan National Forest. The setting is open and expansive, offering clear views of the Colorado sky and easy access to the local services in the town of Ignacio. Its location is ideal for travelers who want to avoid the dense crowds of busier tourist hubs while remaining close to the Southern Ute reservation and various mountain vistas.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is designed for convenience and offers a functional layout for travelers. Key features include:
- Full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electrical service at most sites.
- Spacious pull-thru sites that easily accommodate the largest motorhomes and fifth wheels.
- On-site facilities including clean restrooms and showers for guest use.
The open landscape ensures that even the widest slide-outs have plenty of clearance. The park is well-maintained and provides a level of accessibility that is highly valued by those maneuvering heavy equipment or trailers.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Just a short distance away, guests can visit the Sky Ute Casino Resort for gaming, high-end dining, and bowling. History buffs will appreciate the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum, which offers deep insights into the tribe's history and traditions. Outdoor enthusiasts are within a short drive of Navajo Lake State Park for premier boating and fishing, while the historic town of Durango and its famous narrow-gauge railroad are approximately 25 miles to the northwest.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an excellent choice for big-rig travelers who prioritize spacious sites and easy navigation over resort-style luxuries. It is also ideal for families attending tribal events, horse shows, or rodeos at the adjacent fairgrounds. If you prefer a no-frills, practical basecamp that offers cultural significance and proximity to diverse recreational activities without the high price tags of neighboring mountain towns, this Ignacio destination is a perfect fit.

I’ve been RVing for over 20 years. This is probably the nicest place I’ve ever stayed at. They have 24 RV spaces at the rear of the casino/resort. Paved. Flat. Pull throughs. Electricity and water with a dump site. Paid $55 for the night (veteran discount). RVers have full access to all facilities: casino, indoor pool with jacuzzi, bowling alley, put put golf, horseshoes, laundry. Pet friendly with grass for children and a fenced grass run area for dogs. Casino/resort is smoke free. Restaurants run from steakhouse to grill to regular restaurant. Had breakfast there. Chicken fried steak ($10.99) was big and tasty. Wife had the Belgian waffle. Everyone was exceedingly gracious and helpful. I understand they have periodic Native American events such a the upcoming Bear Dances. Beautiful facility.

RV park was just what we needed to stay for quick business in the area and a couple days exploring. No amenities really, just a quiet place to park with full hookups. Odd mix of long-term residents and overnighters, but they had a spot for us and that's what matters. Not the place to stay if you want on-site entertainment for your kids. Very friendly and easy to work with management.

It is a great place to stay wether short or long term. They have many pull through sites with full hookup. Sites are nice, clean and level. Showers, laundry and internet are available but they do cost extra. Barns and an indoor arena are located nearby if you have horses. They offer daily, weekly and monthly rates and are pet friendly. Most people are pretty friendly but some dont follow the rules or are not very considerate of the neighbors and let their dogs run off leash. Makes it a hassle when your trying to walk your dog and have those other dogs running through and around your site. Other than that this is our go to spot when around this area. One of the best places we have had the pleasure of staying at. Friendly staff and they have great maintenance. Close to shopping, laundry, post office and if you like to go to casinos that is just down the way.

After spending a week in the Mountains boon docking in Colorado, this was the perfect place to clean up and plug up before heading back to Texas. The park with all the amenities was super clean. The people here are great. The shower and laundry facilities were impeccable, not to mention access to the pool were the kind of pecks that make this the perfect stop. Only 20 minutes outside of Durango CO off of CO 172.

Very clean RV park! Beautiful creek flowing just in front of us. Very soothing at night time. Definitely worth the stay!

Lots of space. Good if your just there for work. Not a vacation spot! Low monthly rate. 25.00 for internet. Additional if want access to shower or bathrooms.
