The bathrooms have pay showers—and even the toilets feel like pay toilets, since only registered campers or paying visitors are allowed to use them. Here's the kicker: the visitor fee expires at a certain hour. After that, if you’re in the shower or on the toilet when the clock runs out, you could literally get pulled out by staff. Yes, really. It’s hard to believe we’re still doing this. Pay toilets were phased out in most of the U.S. by the early 1980s because people rightly found them dehumanizing—especially for women, who had fewer free options. There was even a national movement (CEPTIA) to abolish them. Yet somehow, this place brings the absurdity back, nickel-and-diming people for basic human needs. As for management, their commitment to enforcing even the most trivial policies is matched only by their unpredictability.

Great campground. We stayed for 4 nights. Booking the spots was easy as well as check in. There were 3 rigs in our group. The owner came by and introduced himself. The grounds were neat and clean. Very well maintained. If we are back this way again, we will definitely be staying here.

We have been here 4 days and have loved! We are traveling in a 45 ft class A with a tow vehicle. The park is super clean with large spaces and scattered trees. Fred, the owner, rides around in his golf cart to be sure everyone is pleased. Although we didn't use the pool the ones that did seemed to be enjoying it. We went to Killington Peak, The Champlain Dinner Train and our friends went to Fort Ticonderoga while we were here. The nice little town of Brandon has shops and a few nice restaurants. Our favorite was The River Pub & Grill. We would all definitely recommend this park and would return.

Super helpful and kind, willing to go above and beyond for you at any time. We so look forward to making our reservation every year!

We stayed at the campground for 1 night. Checkin was easy and the staff were excellent, helping us get settled. The site was perfectly level and had ample room for the coach and our Jeep.the restrooms were clean and the grounds well maintained. There wasn’t a dog park but there was a large open grassy area that our pups enjoyed. We will definitely come back.

We were delighted to find a seasonal site at The Smoke Rise Camp Ground for the Summer of 2021, where our grandchildren joined us for the summer. The owners take great pride in the many upgrades they have made to the property in the past few years of their ownership. Their wish is for each camper to enjoy a safe, fun and memorable time. The camp ground is impeccably maintained; I loved the flowers. The pool is spotless and enjoyed by all age groups. The nights are quiet. There is a park like setting in which to enjoy extensive shade and breezes. There is a delightful playground for younger children. Our priorities for safety and evening quiet were met. We are counting down the days to return for the 2022 Season. We could not be more satisfied with our summer long experience ! From this beautiful mid-Vermont Location there are too many outdoor experiences to try to report.

Smoke Rise Campground is a very nice and clean park. The staff is great and very accommodating. Fred, the park owner, is 84 years young and a great man and park ambassadeur! He purchased the park in a run down condition on the first day it went up for sale. He has put a great deal of money and effort into its renovation. He was a very successful business man of Beef market for many years. We sat and shared life stories for some time. He was so compassionate and supportive to us for our pup Marina during her last hours before she passed. All of his staff are so friendly and helpful. Anita, one of his staff members, has worked with him for 43 years and plays a big role in managing the campground.
