Snowflower RV Resort
Overview
Snowflower RV Resort offers a true alpine experience nestled within the towering pines of the Sierra Nevada. This high-elevation destination serves as a refreshing mountain retreat for travelers looking to reconnect with nature. Located at approximately 5,800 feet, the park provides a cooler alternative to the valley heat during the summer months. As a Thousand Trails property, it balances a rustic camping atmosphere with the essential comforts required for a relaxing stay under the stars.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the scenic Emigrant Gap area, the resort is conveniently located just off Interstate 80. Despite its proximity to the highway, the park feels worlds away, surrounded by the vast Tahoe National Forest. The landscape is defined by granite outcroppings, dense evergreen forests, and crystal-clear mountain air. Visitors often remark on the stunning vistas of the Sierra range that characterize this rugged and beautiful stretch of Northern California highlands.
Amenities & Park Features
The heart of the resort is the stunning private lake, which is perfect for fishing, canoeing, or simply relaxing by the shore. The park features several amenities designed to enhance the mountain experience, including:
- A spacious clubhouse and seasonal pool for relaxation and social gatherings.
- On-site laundry facilities and bathhouses for guest convenience.
- Direct access to scenic hiking trails that wind through the pine-covered property.
RVers can find various site types, including full hookups and more rustic spots, catering to different camping preferences and rig sizes.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The park serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the legendary Donner Pass and the historic town of Truckee. Adventurous travelers are only a short drive from the Pacific Crest Trail, offering world-class hiking opportunities. During the warmer months, the crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe are within easy reach for day trips. Additionally, the surrounding forest provides endless opportunities for photography, birdwatching, and mountain biking across diverse terrain.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who prefer a forest setting over a standard roadside park. Families will appreciate the quiet atmosphere and the lake activities that keep children engaged with the outdoors. It is also a perfect fit for RVers seeking a high-altitude escape to beat the summer heat. If you enjoy a mix of rustic charm and mountain scenery while remaining close to major Northern California landmarks, this park is an excellent choice for your itinerary.

Just got back from two weeks of October glamping in 1000 Trails Snowflower. Collette the camp host once again gave us a warm friendly welcome. She can answer all your questions. All of the staff was readily available if needed to answer questions or help. They were busy getting the camp ready for the coming winter. Our experience was lots of fun trail riding, quiet hiking with the dog and not so great fishing. Walking the shower and sitting by the lake was an episode of different experience from the summer when it is much busier in a good way. Lake was beautifully serene with the fall colors reflecting off the water. Picture perfect. Lodge was open with activities to do. Day trip to Truckee and Tahoe was a wonderful experience also. Thank you Collette once again for your hospitality and service.

Jaime, Brian and Colette are absolutely amazing employees! Each of them contributed to enhancing our stay here, and because of them, we will be returning and spreading the word on this Thousand Trails campground! I hope these employees are acknowledged through their employers, as they are definitely an asset to the company.

Our group with small children had an amazing time and loved the RV campgrounds. We collectively stayed in the Redwoods and it was beautiful. Everything was so clean and well maintained. The lake was great for fishing and good hiking trails. Colette and staff are extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful.

Nice campground. RV spots in the trees are well planned and have easy access for backing in. Sites have water and electric. There are 2 dump stations. Campground has a welcome Center and very small general store. Pool and a couple of lodges. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick weekend getaway with easy access for Sacramento and Reno.

Collette and her staff were more than gracious to accommodate my family and I when we arrived on site! The call center had assigned us a site that didn't work with our 34ft 5th wheel so Collette found us an amazing spot with privacy and sunset views near the lake for 17 days!! The entire staff has always greeted us with a smile or a wave! Thank You Snowflower staff for making our trip a wonderful lifetime memory!

The location of this place is the only reason I'd consider revisiting Snowflower. We stayed in a cabin which had great views. I'm leaving 3 stars because the condition of our cabin was less than desirable. Immediately heard and saw several mice which is understandable but there were mice droppings everywhere even on the couch like the cabin hadn't been properly cleaned. Called to inform the front desk, received no call back. Also the blinds on several windows were completely broken and looked horrible, chunks of blinds missing, like just take them down if you don't want to replace them. Some of the windows were seized up and wouldn't open, no AC in the cabin so it was hot and stuffy, cobwebs everywhere. Lastly, I booked a no-pet cabin but there was animal hair everywhere on the sheets, the floor, and the towels. The cabin could be really nice but it just seems like it was boarded up for winter and not cleaned or maintained properly upon opening for the summer season. Hopefully they will consider better maintenance for a better experience, it wouldn't take much. Not sure if I'll return but the area was very beautiful.

Stayed in a trailer spot #60. Nice area. The campground is spread out so it doesn't feel crowded. Nice lake on the ground. Dogs enjoyed that the best. Lodge with a pool table, foosball and plenty of games. Bring lots of bug spray tons of mosquitoes. No luck with the fishing.

Overall, the campground is really nice. Beautiful location with a nice small lake to enjoy. The downside is the assigned sites at check-in. Our assigned site was too small for our rig. After waiting for about one hour to have our site re-assigned due to four or five other families needing site re-assignments for the same issue we had, Collette assigned us to The Cliffs. This section turned out to be perfect for our friends and us. We were able to stay together where we were not able to stay together in our original assigned sites. Collette did her best with what she was given to help the families who were displaced due to the new TT assigned site system. She went above and beyond staying overtime to help the long line of folks needing help. This cannot be easy for her. We did enjoy our stay and will be back but I am not sure this new assigned system is working well. One complaint: I attempted to contact the office several times for weeks prior to our arrival. The voicemail is chronically full and no one answers the phone when calling directly to the office.
