Spring Creek Campground & Trout Ranch
Overview
Spring Creek Campground & Trout Ranch offers a peaceful retreat for RVers looking to experience the natural beauty of south-central Montana. Located just outside the town of Big Timber, this park provides a unique combination of mountain scenery and direct access to water. The property is characterized by its mature cottonwood trees and the calming sounds of the nearby river, creating a refreshing atmosphere for a short stop or an extended stay. It is the kind of place where the pace of life slows down to match the flow of the water.
Location & Surroundings
Situated along the banks of the Boulder River, the park sits in a lush valley with the dramatic Crazy Mountains rising in the distance. The surrounding landscape is dominated by rolling ranch land and dense groves of trees that offer plenty of shade and a sense of seclusion. Its proximity to Interstate 90 makes it a convenient gateway for those traveling between Billings and Bozeman, yet the park maintains a quiet, rural feel that makes the highway feel miles away.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for modern travelers, offering spacious pull-through sites with full hookups and 30/50 amp service. Beyond the functional basics, the standout feature is the on-site trout fishing available in the private spring creek and stocked ponds. Visitors can enjoy the luxury of fishing right from the property. Additional conveniences include clean laundry facilities, modern showers, and a playground, ensuring a comfortable and practical experience for guests who value both nature and utility.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore just a short drive from the campground. Natural Bridge Falls is a must-see destination where the Boulder River disappears into a limestone cavern before reappearing in a spectacular waterfall. The downtown area of Big Timber offers a charming look into Montana's ranching heritage, featuring local eateries and historic architecture. For those willing to venture further, the surrounding Gallatin National Forest provides endless hiking trails and opportunities for wildlife viewing in the high alpine country.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal match for avid fly-fishers looking for convenient access to world-class trout waters without leaving the campground. It also appeals to families and retirees who prefer a relaxed, nature-centric environment over a high-activity commercial resort. Because of its serene setting and lush canopy of trees, it is a favorite for road-trippers seeking a quiet, scenic home base while exploring the majestic landscapes of Big Timber and the surrounding mountain ranges.

This is not a bad review, Just information that I wanted to pass on. I would not consider this as a Big Rig friendly park.We pull our car on a trailer and wanted a pull thru site which was fine for one night. But we were not allowed to unload the car to go to town for dinner. If we did we would have to park the trailer in a different location. Even if it was a car dolly it would have to be moved! So we did not stay. Campground looks very nice and the woman I was dealing with was fine, She was only following their rules

Spring Creek was reserved as an overnight stop on our way to a Yellowstone adventure. This campground is great and in a very nice location, on the banks of the Boulder River. We had had a long day and arrived late in the afternoon, and the staff took outstanding care of us. I was directed to our site by our host where I was able to easily pull our 36 ft travel trailer into the pull through site 57. Full hookup, and this was the first time I was able deploy the trailer without unhooking from the tow vehicle. Rested great and enjoyed the sounds of the river nearby. We were able to get on our way to our destination relaxed and with no problems.

A beautifully well maintained campground. Our spot by Boulder Creek was awesome. Very quiet. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The only downside was the 1 bathroom and 1 shower by our side of the park. (One for men, 1 for women) When it is full that is not enough to take care of the number of people in the park. Everything else was great.

I stayed here for over 10 months, and yes thur the dead of winter. Sharon is nothing short of an amazing lady. There's nothing more I can say. I'd rate it a 10 if I was able to. Very clean, quiet and the friendliest people around. Get the ring eye at the Montanana steak house, and grab a beer at the wheel (great breakfasts also).

Beautiful location. All services easy to access. Several picnic tables and fire rings located on the grounds and next to the creek. Well stocked with wood for evening campfires. We enjoyed our stay.
