Just a short drive away is the Chalmette Battlefield, where the Battle of New Orleans took place, offering a deep dive into American history. Anglers will find plenty of opportunities for freshwater and saltwater fishing in the nearby marshes and bayous. Of course, the primary draw for many is the proximity to the French Quarter, where visitors can immerse themselves in the unique architecture, street performances, and culinary delights that define Louisiana culture.

Small campground but quaint and quiet. Some sites are full hookups while others are lacking sewer and while many have plenty of elbow room others are relatively close. Bathhouse is your basic one with water pressure and temperature up to par. The park is very quiet even though there is a picnic and water park area open to the paying public. There is really no hiking or walking trails except the campground itself or the public area. Beware of the invasion of termites on some evenings where you literally need to turn off the lights so they don't follow you into your RV. The best point is its location to New Orleans where you can literally go into town on the same road. I parked at the Hop On/Hop Off Bus and it was super easy and convenient. Town and shops are just a few miles away. Definitely will come back to it.

We truly loved this state park! The proximity to New Orleans was priceless! This was the first state park we stayed at on our new adventure as full-time RVers. It was beautiful and we felt safe. Nice trail and day use area.

It’s first come first serve State Park which makes it easier for us to get the site. We have two vans (19ft & 23ft), we were allowed to stay together at the same site. The campground looks nice. We were told the alligators could be there in the campground and should be careful. I personally like the column of trees along route 46 a few miles before getting to the campground.

We stayed here while biking The Southern Tier Bike Trail. It was calm, beautiful, and clean. I couldn’t believe our luck at finding a reasonably priced campground so close to the city! What a blessing to have a hot shower after a long day on the bike! Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at St. Bernard State Park in Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans, and it was such a peaceful and beautiful park. We had electric and water hookups, no sewer, but there was a dumping station. We originally planned to stay for 2 weeks during Christmas but then asked if we could stay an additional week to further experience New Orleans during New Year's. They were very accommodating and allowed us to move spots the last week and enjoy the area a little longer. The drive to New Orleans wasn’t bad either, and it was nice to be out of the city! We had a little pop-up gazebo set up outside and spent time outside every night. Such an amazing experience! I would highly recommend it if you are wanting to visit the area. Super peaceful, quiet, and reasonably priced!

This is a great place to camp! Sites are good-sized and spaced apart. It's clean and a nice distance to visit New Orleans but stay in a peaceful environment. We had a fun evening walk around the loop photographing armadillos. The staff is very nice & willing to answer questions and give information about the park.
