My friend and I are working on the "Passport for Adventure" and visiting all the Colorado state parks. This was my first time in the northwest portion of the state, and WOW!!! The drive to this park from Fort Collins was stunning. We saw bears along the way. We hiked the Lake Agnes Trail, which led up to a stunning lake and was a beautiful and short hike. It is conveniently located a few minutes off the highway. The road up to the lake is bumpy and rutted. I am glad to have taken our Forester instead of the Jetta. The VW would have made it with maybe a bump or two. This would be a good hike for leashed dogs. The restrooms at the trailhead were very clean, well-stocked, and maintained. We arrived on a Saturday around 10 am, and the parking lot was 1/3 full. If we had only hiked up and hiked down, it would have taken no more than 1.5 hours. We sat around awhile, ate lunch, and then hiked around the perimeter of the lake. There is no defined trail around the lake, and much of it is scree (fyi). After, we drove down the road for 10 minutes to the visitors center to have our state park passports stamped. Colorado State Park Number 27 for me (out of 41). The VC has an exhibit of the wildlife in the park, a small gift shop, and clean restrooms. All of the CPW employees and volunteers we interacted with were obviously happy to be there and helpful. Now that I know how beautiful that part of the state is, it will be an easy push to go to the other 5 parks off of Highway 40 next season. See you soon.

If you are looking for a park with lots of great trails, views and excellent facilities, this is it! I had an amazing time camping here. All the fecilties I visited were clean and well maintained, the trails are in excellent conditions and the staff were very helpful. Of course, the views were great at every turn!

This is a very odd State Park. There's graded dirt roads circling all over the place, that don't go anywhere. The RV dump station is miles away from CG. And I don't recommend sites 201 - 205... they are just wide spots on the heavily travelled main road. There's odd buildings with work trucks scattered all over by the entrance. Very odd place.

AMAZING spot! Clean, quiet & the view is so pretty. Saw mule deer, hummingbirds, a fox & gold finches. A nature lovers dream! Camped in the Bockman campground & drove to the N Michigan lake . We will be back & for longer!

Camped at state forest state park in our 38' motorhome had plenty of room, electricity and water but no sewer. Shower house is amazing. Nice quiet place to camp will definitely be back.

We were there a few weeks ago. We looked all over for wildlife. We found moose tracks. The ranger said they were fresh as he drove that way a few hours earlier and no tracks. Almost saw one, rats. We will try again. The 2 Rangers we met were very nice, informative, and we learned a lot.

Beautiful place. I didn't do much exploring around the park, but I did camp at North Michigan Reservoir. I was in spot 247 and had a great view and easy access to the lake. Some spots are kind of close, and some are not. Site 248 is the best, followed by 247. It you want a lakeview spot book a site on either end of the campground, the ones in the middle have a big hill in front of them, so no lake view. (The campground side of the resivour without the cabins)No showers, water or electricity. Two outhouse restrooms are located at each end of the campground. There are water fill and dumpstations a few min drive from the campground. Stayed 2 nights and only saw a fox. It was getting into coolers and trash, keep that stuff locked inside vehicles. Was hoping to see moose, but no luck. Bring a paddle board or kayak for the lake. Make sure to stop by moose visitor center to get a day pass, it is not included in Camping pass. I entered at north park campground and there was no attendant on duty, so i ended up having to drive all the way back to moose visitor center for my pass. 0 to 1 bars of service with at&t. There is service when you enter at north park campground. I was able to stay connected with starlink.

Went camping up at the North Park campground in the middle of September for a weekend. The campground was amazing and had all the amenities. We also went for a hike around the Gould loop and had an amazing time with excellent weather. This is a nice little getaway place that's not overly crowded and full of fun things to do. We'll definitely be coming back.

A beautiful state park! Visit the Moose Visitor Center where there’s free wifi. There are several campgrounds with various amenities. Ranger Lakes CG has three nice fishing lakes with well kept walking trails. Northpark CG now offers full hookups at some sights. Michigan Lake has some lakeside sights and the lake was nice to kayak on. Hike the .8 mile trail to Agnes Lake, at around 10,500’ elevation. Close by the park is the Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge with a nice visitor center and a 1/2 mile raised boardwalk with many informational signs about the area’s waterfowl. There are over 600 moose now in the area of State Forest after being introduced in the 70’s and 80’s.
