Stockton Lake - COE/Hawker Point

Overview

Hawker Point is a scenic Corps of Engineers campground situated on the eastern shores of Stockton Lake in Missouri. This park offers a tranquil escape for RVers who appreciate natural beauty and water-based recreation. Located on a gentle peninsula, the campground provides many sites with views of the expansive blue water, known for being some of the cleanest in the state. It is a quiet destination where the focus remains on the landscape and the peaceful rhythm of lake life.

Location & Surroundings

Nestled just outside the town of Stockton, MO, the park is surrounded by lush oak and hickory forests and striking limestone bluffs. Stockton Lake is famous for its consistent winds, making it a premier destination for sailing in the Midwest. The surrounding area remains largely undeveloped, providing a peaceful environment where the sounds of nature outweigh the noise of traffic. The peninsula location ensures that water is never more than a short walk from any campsite.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features over 60 campsites, many of which are equipped with electric hookups suitable for various RV sizes. Guests have access to essential facilities including a central dump station, pressurized water spigots, and modern shower houses. For those traveling with watercraft, the convenient boat ramp makes it easy to launch for a day on the lake, while the on-site playground and picnic shelters provide space for families to gather and relax during their stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park boundaries, visitors can explore the Stockton Lake Multi-Use Trail, which is popular for hiking, birdwatching, and mountain biking. Anglers frequent these waters to catch walleye, crappie, and smallmouth bass. A short drive away, the Stockton State Park Marina offers additional services and boat rentals, while the local town provides charming shops and seasonal festivals, such as the annual Black Walnut Festival, for those looking to experience local culture.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is an ideal choice for boaters and sailors looking for easy lake access and a quiet place to rest. It also appeals to budget-conscious RVers who value the well-maintained standards and spacious layouts typical of COE parks. If you prefer a rustic, scenic environment over a high-density commercial resort, Hawker Point offers the perfect balance of basic comforts and immersive outdoor experiences for a weekend getaway or an extended stay.

We had booked a 3 night stay at their camp ground. It was our first time taking our 4,2, and 10 month olds with us. We had a great time but we decided it was in the best interests of the kids and our dog (half husky) to only stay one night. They called and asked I'd We were still camping and I told them we decided to leave early. The wonderful lady decided to refund us and only had us pay 1 night. We definitely weren't planning on getting a refund. This was our fault we left early no fault to them or the campsite. It was so beautiful and nice and clean. Even the restrooms they had were clean and stocked with toilet paper. We definitely plan to be back and better prepared

My original camp site at another camp ground was under water so we booked last minute here and turned out to be the best. It was clean and quiet with direct access to the water. Close to town too so running to the local store wasn't a hassle. We will definitely return

Have nothing but a wonderful experience at Hawker Point Campground on all of our visits this summer. It’s a beautiful place with a wonderful vibe and some of the best staff I’ve ever encountered at a campground. Everything is always clean, and you can tell they are genuinely sweet folks!

Another great Corps of Engineers campground. Shoulder season rates October - November and March - April only $10 for electric sites .. only $5.00 with the America the beautiful pass. An amazing place to explore, fish, relax .. free camping December-March ! Open all year and free camping ! Prefect winter boondocking spot in Missouri. Primitive Campsites too !

We had a great time staying at Hawker Point! The views are amazing, and many of the camp spots are right next to the water. The camper sites do not have water hook ups or dump hook ups but there are plenty of places throughout the park to fill fresh water tanks. The camp host was super nice, and the dump stations were clean and set up very well. The park is easy to access and set up in will definitely be back!

It’s a great place to stay. It’s our first time here. The lake is beautiful. Campsite was right next to water. Most of them are. It allows you to pull your boat right up to site. Although the water is high and it was hard for us to get boat close because of bushes half under water near shore. It’s a little ways to get to a gas station or grocery store. There seems to be only one place to take a shower near the entrance. A bit of a walk from campsites. The bathrooms by us were primitive but there was only one toilet (no flush)near us. It was kept very clean. I was impressed with that. The water is clear for a lake. Even though it was extremely warm it was nice and calm. Reminder that check in is 6pm. It’s different but it lets those before you enjoy day, then come back to clean up.

The site is beautiful yes, but with it being very hot out and having our camper we used our generator for AC for the babies and kids we had with us. Then at 10pm the park staff came by and said we had to turn it off! Nowhere online said these were the rules and we even explained we had little babies sleeping inside and they didn't care. We turned ours off and dealt with an extremely rough night with the kids being awake and miserable because we were not prepared for that. And to top it off there were 2 other sites by ours that had their generators on all night and morning but they only made us turn ours off and not them.
