Cute little park to walk around

I love this park, every time we visit wadena I make a point to visit here, the deer and bison are wonderful to watch, as is just being there.. . I even wrote a poem about the beauty of it. I’ve loved this park for 30+ years since I’ve met my now husband of whom was raised in wadena minnesota. Sunnybrook park The dew on the grass, reflecting the early morning sun as it stretches its rays, trying to wake up after a long dark cool night.. The birds, turkeys, peacocks, are still nestled in the parks wild flowers, as their blanket, it’s too early to rise.. Even the white tailed deer are curled up in their pen, with their nose tucked in.. what a gift to see them up close. I grab a seat on the bench, warm coffee in hand, wrap my soft sweater around my neck, take in GODS creation, time has no place here in thus blissful moment.. A bridge that has stood its time, gives campers a way to cross from the camping side a way to cross over to view Sunnybrook animals, perhaps a retired couple, enjoying an early morning walk. Suddenly I’m overcome with sadness, because I know no one seems to need me in the city anymore like they did once before, oh how I’d love to make this our home, it’s become my second home, the place where my love of my life grew up, Sunnybrook park has always held a special place in my heart.. Oh how I wish I had grew up here, for I would have been gifted with a FAMILY I never had, SUNNYBROOK PARK, GOD must have spent alot of time creating HOLY GROUND such as YOU.

We had a family reunion here and used one of their picnic areas with a building that had a roof, electrical outlets and lots of seating. It was very clean and had a nice area for children to play.

Campground General Impression: Nice little community campground located next to a good-sized park with basic facilities and great price! Cost $38/Night or $196/Week Value: (4) We feel the value for this campground was especially good at the weekly rate for full hook ups. Campground: The campground had 3 long rows in it and all the campsites were pull through. Some large, scattered trees throughout to provide some shade but not enough to block night sky. Campsite # 6 Campsite was grass pull throughs. The campsite was mostly level left to right but not so much front to back. All sites have full hookups with 50 & 30 #thifty. They have a picnic table and grill, but no fire rings. There is no Propane fill, but they do have a dump station and water fill for use for $5. Wifi: Campground does have Wifi, and it might be good enough to send off a few emails. Starlink and Verizon was good enough to stream. Noise Level: Moderate train noise, but no real road noise even though we were situated on a road and close to the main road. Amenities: A bathhouse was available at the front of the park with a few toilets and 1 shower. Everything was dated but clean enough to use. Showers are also available to non-campers for $2. Dumpster easily located at the bathhouse. Laundry had 2 washers and 2 dryers and cost $6 to wash and $0.50 to dry. No pool, but there is a nice playground. Other facilities: Frisbee golf, pavilions for large gatherings, and a zoo? Dog friendly: No off-leash areas in the campground, but plenty of green space. There is also a bark park across the street. They have a pick up station at the bathhouse and it was stocked! Camp store: No camp store, but a super Walmart 5 min away. Super convenient! Camp staff interactions: Several interactions with the camp staff. Both camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. Made us feel right at home. Additional info: Driving distance to see Dambo Trolls in Detroit Lakes, MN. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 3 Overall: 4

I stayed 3 nights here in September, 2023. I was the 9th occupant in the park with a capacity of 30+. I was pleased with the campground overall. The restrooms were clean and functional. It is somewhat overpriced for what you get, but that's the campground trend these days. There is an active train track nearby; the noise isn't overbearing, but be ready for 4-7 trains a night. The adjoining city park and zoo is nice, but not an attraction. The bike trail is an abandoned train track right of way, so it's flat and straight, and a B+ kind of ride. I'll return if I'm in the area and need a camp site.
