Suzie's Camp

Overview

Suzie's Camp offers a refreshing and authentic South Dakota experience for travelers looking to explore the Black Hills region. Situated just outside the bustling center of Sturgis, this park provides a peaceful retreat with expansive views of the surrounding prairie and mountains. Unlike the high-density commercial resorts found nearby, Suzie's maintains a relaxed, open atmosphere that captures the rugged spirit of the American West. It serves as an ideal base for those who value wide-open spaces and a genuine connection to the natural landscape during their stay.

Location & Surroundings

The park is perfectly positioned to offer the best of both worlds: easy access to local conveniences and a secluded, rural feel. Guests are treated to stunning vistas of Bear Butte, a prominent geological feature and sacred site that dominates the eastern horizon. The surrounding terrain consists of rolling hills and meadows, providing a sense of solitude that is hard to find during peak travel seasons. The low light pollution in this rural area also makes for exceptional stargazing opportunities right from your campsite after the sun sets over the hills.

Amenities & Park Features

Designed with simplicity and functionality in mind, the park features a variety of site options to accommodate different rig sizes. Travelers will find spacious RV sites equipped with essential hookups, ensuring a comfortable stay while maintaining a rustic camping vibe. One of the most unique features of this property is the availability of sturdy horse stalls, making it a premier choice for equestrian travelers exploring the Black Hills trail systems. The facility also includes clean, well-maintained shower houses and restrooms that provide necessary comforts after a long day of outdoor adventure.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure is never far away when staying at Suzie's Camp. A short drive brings you to Bear Butte State Park, where hiking trails lead to breathtaking summits and cultural landmarks. The historic town of Deadwood is easily accessible, offering a glimpse into the Wild West era with its historic architecture and entertainment. For those who enjoy scenic drives, the winding roads of Spearfish Canyon provide unmatched natural beauty and waterfalls. Of course, the legendary shops and museums of downtown Sturgis are just minutes away for those wanting to explore the local culture.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent match for RVers who prefer a quiet, low-key environment over the constant activity of a luxury resort. It is particularly well-suited for equestrian enthusiasts who need specialized accommodations for their animals while traveling through South Dakota. Nature lovers and photographers will appreciate the unobstructed views and proximity to state parks. If you are looking for a reliable, friendly, and scenic place to unhook and breathe in the fresh mountain air, Suzie's Camp is a fantastic choice for your next road trip.

Camped there for 4 days, the people were amazing and the customer service was great! Even had a Ice and Beer cart going around the campground. Definitely going back!

2 miles from Sturgis just off of I-90 by the National Cemetery. Quiet campground for those wanting to sleep at night.

Our group stayed here for 3 nights. Great location, beautiful scenery, quiet campgrounds, a lot of space for campers, rv's, and tents. Half of us stayed in a camper and the other half stayed in the cabins. Cabins where perfect for sleeping. On site showers and bathrooms. About 3 miles from downtown Sturgis so you don't hear all the noise at the rally. Perfect place for a getaway from the city. I would stay here every time I come to Sturgis.

We stayed at Suzie's Camp for 4 nights. The location was great for us to see both Mt. Rushmore and Devil's Tower. The trip to Devil's Tower is long, but worth it. This is a quiet Campground with long, grass pull through sites. We have a 42 ft long fifth wheel and a 22 ft long truck. The grass was mowed regularly. This is pretty close to I-90, but we weren't bothered by highway noise much. Randy is a great guy, and we enjoyed our stay. We didn't use the restrooms here. There are cabins, as well. The prices are very reasonable. We would stay here again.

Love Suzies Camp. We stay in our RV and it's so peaceful, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. Further than most parks off the highway around here, so that is huge plus! Couldn't ask for a better place to stay for our time in South Dakota.

Just what we needed for $100 a night. We had issues with our hotel booking for the weekend while visiting from Iowa for a wedding. We found Suzies on hotel.com and made our way there. Apparently Suzies was unaware that they were listed on the website, but quickly accommodated us within a couple hours. Clean cabins and shared restrooms/shower houses. Quiet at night and beautiful views in the morning. We will be back next time we are in Sturgis!
