Taylor's Beach Campground

Overview

Taylor's Beach Campground offers a quintessential Michigan outdoor experience located in the heart of Livingston County. This family-oriented destination provides a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of classic summer camps with its wooded landscapes and focus on lakeside recreation. While it feels like a secluded retreat, it offers a welcoming community atmosphere that makes it a popular choice for those looking for an authentic lakefront vibe without the long drive to the northern reaches of the state.

Location & Surroundings

The park is conveniently situated just off North Burkhart Road, providing easy access for travelers arriving via I-96 or M-59. It sits on the banks of Cook Lake, a private, spring-fed lake that serves as the quiet centerpiece of the entire property. The surroundings are characterized by lush greenery and a peaceful rural setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city, yet it remains just a short drive from the historic amenities and local charm of Howell, Michigan.

Amenities & Park Features

The standout feature of the park is the large sandy beach, which is perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the clear lake waters. Anglers will appreciate the fishing opportunities for bass and panfish in the quiet, no-wake environment that keeps the water calm. The campground includes a variety of sites, ranging from primitive areas to full-hookup RV sites. On-site facilities include:

  • Modern bathhouses and laundry facilities
  • A well-stocked camp store for essentials
  • Playgrounds, volleyball, and basketball courts

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Visitors can take a short drive to explore the Tanger Outlets for a day of premier shopping or head into downtown Howell to enjoy local breweries and seasonal festivals like the Balloonfest. The Howell Nature Center is a fantastic nearby stop for families interested in wildlife rehabilitation and outdoor education. For those who enjoy extensive trail systems, the nearby Kensington Metropark offers thousands of acres of hiking, biking, and birdwatching opportunities just a quick trip down the highway.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for families with children who want an active, water-focused vacation in a safe and friendly environment. What an amazing campground!! This place has so much to offer!! Huge park and beach. The kids have a blast. They host an amazing Halloween weekend each year that is over the top! The staff is always so kind and friendly. We love coming here even though we live ten minutes down the road. Highly recommend!!

This is what we consider our hidden slice of paradise. Been camping here for the last 10+ years and have reservations to keep coming back year after year. There are no campgrounds like it, the kids absolutely love being here. We book it for a month at a time and they're still upset when it's time to leave. Their 4th of July fireworks were incredible this year.

We can't wait to return! Everyone who works here is so kind and they really go above and beyond for their campers! There's so much this campground offers for both adults and children. From the tiki hut tables on the beach, complimentary sand toys and life jackets to use, fishing, cornhole, a splash pad, a game room, trails, tons of rentals and so, so much more! Not to mention all the activities they put on for the kids! Or the dj on beach this past weekend! They even held a tournament for the adults which was fun and we did a poker run! The bath house is really nice. The showers and bathrooms wrre super clean and conveniently located All the boxes are more than checked!!

We have been camping here for 12 years! This is our happy place away from home. Wonderful, family friendly, campground. There is always something to do. The owner and staff are the absolute best! Always around for any of your camping needs. Very thankful to be a part of the TBC family!

We for for 4th of July each year. It’s ALWAYS an amazing time. Firework show is PERFECT! The light up toys for kids are FREE and they all love them. Music and dancing. The beach is perfect. Hayrides is so cool. Kids and teens LOVE this place and always have a crazy amount of a good time. I literally have nothing negative to say about this place. The camp sites are cute and cozy. Lots of space. Everyone is always so nice. Lots of activities for the kids. My nephews spend the day running around catching fish and frogs for there competitions they have, there is no kids running around on phones and tablets. Mini store to get things you need and want and won’t have to leave the site for anything . Great place, great people and always a great time

Great place to visit for.the weekend. Not a great seasonal campground. Always increasing prices. Always promise to do upgrades, they just never come to fruition. We are moving out this year after 4yrs of building our dream getaway.

Best family campground ever. Been coming here for the fourth of July for 3 years now and every year gets better and better. Tons for the kids to do and so many friendly wonderful people. The owners do such a great job making it a perfect family destination for holidays. Worth every penny.

Lake was nice. Campsites were shaded. The bathrooms weren't nice. They never seemed to get cleaned and didn't seem to ever have toilet paper. The showers were gross. When we went to dump when leaving, they don't make it easy to dispose of your trash. They should put a dumpster close to where you dump. The arcades had 3 machines that didn't work but took your money. They all in all need to spend more time with upkeep.

This was our first solo family trip without more experienced family members and I am so glad we chose TBC! The campsite was clean, easy to set up on and so convenient for having children. Between all the activities offered we were never bored even with an energetic 4 year old. Fellow campers were considerate and friendly and the staff were even better. We had rented two sites, someone ends up setting up on one of them after the office was closed down and we didn’t want to be rude so we let them keep it. We were not expecting a refund but the woman at the office put one in immediately the next morning without any hassle. Overall a wonderful all in one experience. TBC will forever be a go to for our family.
