The Campus RV Park

Overview

The Campus RV Park offers a unique urban camping experience right in the heart of historic Independence, Missouri. Unlike sprawling rural resorts, this park provides a quiet, well-maintained environment for travelers who want to be within walking distance of the city's most significant historical landmarks. It serves as a comfortable and practical home base for those exploring the rich heritage of the region while still enjoying the modern conveniences of a paved, secure facility.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just blocks away from the bustling Historic Independence Square, the park places visitors in a neighborhood filled with deep history and local charm. The immediate surroundings are characterized by quiet residential streets and the impressive architecture of nearby religious and historical institutions. Because of its unbeatable central location, the park allows RVers to leave their rigs behind and explore many of the area’s main attractions, local boutiques, and diners on foot or by a very short drive.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is thoughtfully designed for ease of use and functionality, featuring spacious level concrete pads and full hookups at every site. Travelers appreciate the availability of both 30 and 50-amp service, along with essential on-site facilities like clean restrooms, hot showers, and modern laundry equipment. For those traveling with pets, there is a dedicated fenced dog run where four-legged companions can safely stretch their legs after a long day of driving through the heart of the Midwest.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

History enthusiasts will find themselves perfectly positioned to visit the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum and the Truman Home, both located nearby. The park is also incredibly close to the Community of Christ Temple and the Mormon Visitors Center, making it a primary choice for visitors attending events at these sites. Beyond local history, the proximity to the Kansas City metro area means that world-class barbecue, shopping, and professional sports are only a twenty-minute drive away.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is ideal for travelers who prioritize convenience and accessibility over a secluded nature experience. It is particularly well-suited for history buffs, religious pilgrims, and long-distance travelers who prefer a secure, paved environment close to city services. If you are looking for a well-located urban home base to explore the unique heritage of Independence or the vibrant culture of Kansas City, this friendly park provides the perfect jumping-off point.

From what I read, this land used to have a mansion on it. So it's up on a hill, and pretty close to everything. We had a hard time getting a hold of people. Is it a camp host or do they need one? But once we got settled, everything was great. I feel like I must have mention the showers because they are clean and have good pressure and hot water! LOL

When we arrived we unfortunately had issues with the coach but Mark who works there in office was a great help to us,Thank you. Plus the rv sites are clean, kept up, close to everything and anywhere you want to go, priced very reasonably ,& felt safe‼️‼️‼️‼️

Train really close. And lots of sirens. So if you don't mind a lot of noise at all hours it is fine.

I was in a bind and needed a place to store my camper for a couple days while I got brakes put on my vehicle. The person working told me, why not just use one of the storage spots since I didn't need electricity or water. That saved me a lot of money. And when a couple days turned into over a week, that advice was even more helpful and really appreciated. It was in a secure location with lots of cameras.

Management are not the friendliest of people.this is not the place you want to stay if your looking for nice rv park with friendly staff not a lot of space between Rvs they would tell my I was probably going to have to move because my lot was rented to someone else the next day. I was paying 1500 a month for the lot.I'm now at a much nicer with friendlier staff for 400 a month. Change your management. You will have more business!

Owners we are very nice if a bit organized. We were first given an occupied site and then a site without functional water hookup. Since our slides were out and we were unhooked, they told us to hook up to the next site over. No big deal. They said if someone else came in that’s put them on the end. Well someone else did come in, and they put them in the site we were told to use for water. They just had them hook to our Y. We then had issues washing clothes and showering because the spigot didn’t have the pressure for two RVs. The location is in a rough area that apparently has an issue with crime. It’s basically in the event parking for a church and it’s just the back row of the lot transformed into an RV park by alternating strips of neglected grass, concrete, and pedestals. Trains run (and blow horns) all night. I had someone try to break into my RV while my family visited other family (so my truck was gone). I was sick so stayed behind. I was getting a drink in the kitchen and heard my keypad lock deny entry twice. I heard the footsteps of them leaving after my German Shepherd politely told them to leave. I wasn’t fast enough to see them. If there were any competition at all in the KC area, this place wouldn’t survive. $40/night is wildly overpriced. This is a $20, maybe $30 if you didn’t have to share water, campground at best. I won’t be returning thanks to safety concerns.

30 and 50 AMP. Cement pads with grass between sites. Easy access to water, electric, and sewer. Didn't use bathrooms or laundry. Urban location. Looks like some people live there in their campers. Train is very noisy all night long. Lots of sirens. Customer service is not great. Had to check in via Ring doorbell (had a reservation) and the next morning the other owner confronted us about paying (we had paid with CC and had the receipt).

Perfect location. It's a short walk to wonderful restaurants and bars. Level sites, full hookups. We did not use the WIFI or bathrooms. Large grass field for dogs and playing. The couple that run the park are very nice and accommodating.

Well, reservations were messed up, booked, and paid for the trip. As we checked in, it said it was in one month. I'm glad I had the paperwork. 2 of the waterlines froze and broke, and I had to move after setting up. The management was very accommodating and nice. Older married couple very nice 😁. All my reviews this one was good because the manager did right .

More washers and Dryers? Better signage. Otherwise is very nice. Very friendly.
