The Views RV Park & Campground
Overview
The Views RV Park & Campground offers a serene high-desert retreat situated on 42 scenic acres in Southwest Colorado. Located just outside the town of Dolores, this park earns its name by providing panoramic 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and the glistening McPhee Reservoir. It serves as an ideal basecamp for travelers seeking a quiet, well-maintained environment that balances modern conveniences with the rugged beauty of the Four Corners region.
Location & Surroundings
Perched at an elevation of 7,000 feet, the park is conveniently located across from the McPhee Reservoir, the second-largest body of water in Colorado. The surrounding landscape is characterized by sagebrush, juniper trees, and rolling hills, offering a distinct Southwestern atmosphere. Its proximity to the San Juan National Forest ensures that guests are never far from dense woodlands and diverse wildlife, making it a prime spot for those who appreciate natural transitions in terrain.
Amenities & Park Features
The facility is designed to accommodate a variety of travelers, featuring spacious big-rig friendly sites with full hookups and 30/50-amp service. Guests can enjoy reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, which is a significant plus for remote workers or those planning their next leg of the journey. The park includes private, oversized bathrooms and laundry facilities that are frequently noted for their cleanliness. Additional features like a fenced dog park and a community pavilion with a fire pit and grill enhance the communal feel of the stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure is within easy reach, as the park is situated only 15 minutes from the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. History enthusiasts will also appreciate being close to the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. For outdoor recreation, guests can head to the reservoir for boating and fishing or explore the Phil’s World trail system, a premier destination for mountain biking. The Dolores River offers additional opportunities for seasonal rafting and peaceful riverside walks.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is best suited for active retirees and outdoor enthusiasts who value a peaceful atmosphere over a high-traffic resort environment. It is an excellent choice for history buffs exploring ancient cliff dwellings and photographers looking to capture the dramatic Colorado sunset. Because of its large, level sites, it is also highly recommended for long-haul RV travelers navigating larger coaches who require ease of access and reliable utility connections.

We only stopped by the campground to recon it for future stays to the 4 Corners area. We were created by one of the owners. The campground shows very well. It is spacious, clean, and organized. It is a wonderful central location to visit the whole 4 corners region. The owner is very cordial, as well as knowledgable. We will definitely look to return when we are camping in the region.

Staff was friendly and helpful. After checking us on, she led us directly to our site. Very quiet RV park. The sites are mostly level and quite spacious. If we are ever back in the area we would definitely stay here again.

A Sanctuary in the Storm I arrived at this RV park during a time of deep personal upheaval, not knowing where I’d land or how I’d stabilize. What I found here wasn’t just a place to park—it was a place to breathe. The staff didn’t just offer a site—they offered kindness, humanity, and presence in a world that often forgets those things. They didn’t ask for a story. They didn’t demand credentials. They simply responded—with compassion, with dignity, and with a quiet generosity that I’ll never forget. I’ve stayed in many places over the years, but this one held me in a way that felt safe, real, and anchored. If you’re looking for a park that treats people like people—not transactions—this is it. I’m leaving tomorrow, but the imprint of this place will stay with me. Thank you for being the kind of humans the world needs more of!!! ❤️

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! We only stayed two nights as we were traveling through but absolutely loved it here. Matt was so kind and helpful and you can tell him and his wife Wendy take pride in the campground. Our site was beautiful and close to the communal fire pit and bbq area. The views were incredible and the hiking around the campground was wonderful. We really hope to be back one day! Also, cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen!

This campground is truly top class! We were welcomed with genuine warmth and felt right at home from the start. The owners are incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything you need. The entire site is beautifully maintained, peaceful, and full of charm. But the real highlight? The sanitary facilities – absolutely spotless and on a level we've never experienced before. Without a doubt, one of the best campgrounds out there. Highly recommended and we'd come back anytime!

Absolutely stunning views! This is a nice quiet location with welcoming and helpful owners. The bathrooms and laundry room and clean and spacious. Beautiful communal fire pit area and bbq grill space. Lovely walking trail and bench to sit and relax at. Would 100% recommend if you’re in the area. They also have propane fill up!

Amazing camp, the host was very accommodating when we let them know we would be arriving late in the evening. Clean, safe, friendly, our dog appreciated the dog run. Only reason for the 4 stars: although warm and immaculate, the women’s bathroom does not have a code to enter. We did not feel comfortable showering knowing anyone could enter.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Views. In fact, I’m sitting outside at the back of the RV now enjoying the view of Sleeping Ute Mountain with my coffee. If you are towing a long RV, double towing or in a motorcoach with tow vehicle, the pull-through sites are the longest I’ve ever seen. The sites are also spacious giving you plenty of room between neighbors. Again, we don’t find this kind of spaciousness very often as it seems most campground owners are trying pack people in. The pull-through sites are not perfectly level which isn’t a problem if you bring levelers or cribbing and was only a slight inconvenience in trying to find a level place to sit outside in our chairs (site 42). Bonus: It’s very, very, very quiet day and night (not because campers are old as a previous reviewer stated but because they’re courteous). There are several early Native American sites to visit in the area (Canyons of the Ancients National Monument). One hour from Four Corners. There are also long walking trails around the campground. It’s off the beaten path which for us was also a plus. Our only regret was that we just booked two days instead of a week. We highly recommend The Views!

Without a doubt, this is a 5 star camping park. We have stayed in many parks throughout the US and this ranks among the best in our experience. The owners - Matt & Wendy - take great pride in making sure their guests have a totally enjoyable experience. This very clean and well managed park is located in a rural area near a town with cute shops and a lovely food market. There are historical sites, mountain bike trails and water features nearby. We WILL return!

We stopped in for the night on our way from Texas to Washington and were really impressed with the cleanliness and amenities here. It really is deserving of all of its 5star reviews! So many nice touches throughout the camp that make it a place that you’d want to go and stay for an extended period. (30 mins from the entrance of Mesa Verde National park and roughly 1 hour to the cave dwellings.) We will be back!
