Three Island Crossing

Overview

Three Island Crossing State Park offers a unique blend of historical significance and modern camping comforts. Located on the banks of the Snake River, this park marks a famous crossing point for pioneers on the Oregon Trail. Today, RVers will find a well-maintained state park that balances lush green spaces with educational opportunities. It serves as a peaceful retreat where the past meets the present, making it much more than just a quick highway stopover for those traveling through southern Idaho.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, the park is conveniently located between Boise and Twin Falls. The landscape is defined by the Snake River’s gentle flow and the rugged high desert terrain that surrounds the valley. Guests can enjoy wide-open views and plenty of shade trees within the campground loops. The proximity to the water provides a refreshing microclimate, while the surrounding hills offer a glimpse into the untamed Idaho wilderness that pioneers once navigated during their westward trek.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is designed to accommodate various RV sizes with ease. Most sites offer electrical and water hookups, and the park provides a central dump station for convenience. Facilities are kept in excellent condition and include the following:

  • Clean restrooms and hot showers for all registered guests.
  • Expansive picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills.
  • A professional-grade disc golf course for outdoor recreation.

The paved pads and wide interior roads make navigating larger rigs stress-free throughout the various camping loops.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The centerpiece of the park is the Oregon Trail History and Education Center, where visitors can learn about the hardships of the 19th-century migration. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy fishing or kayaking on the Snake River. Just outside the park gates, the town of Glenns Ferry features local treasures like the Carmela Vineyards, which offers wine tasting and a golf course. These attractions provide a perfect mix of cultural history and modern leisure activities for every visitor.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for history buffs and families who want an educational yet relaxing vacation. It is also a fantastic choice for RVers seeking a quiet, scenic environment that offers more space than a typical commercial park. If you appreciate riverfront access and historical landmarks, Three Island Crossing will fit your travel style perfectly. Whether you are staying for a weekend or a single night, the park’s serene atmosphere provides a memorable and high-quality Idaho experience.

I give this place a 🎩🎩 out of 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩. The place is clean and has both electric and water. Has a dump station somewhere i hear. Way too crowded in spots though. Had possibly the dinkiest fire pit while the spot next to me had an actual round fire pit. Grass was nice bit did have some goat heads. The worst part was the camp hosts. Each spot is supposed to allow 2 vehicles but heaven forbid your car be 2 inches on the "grass". Kids can't even play on trees like kids do. They were out hust to enforce what ever they could. They should also move the river closer to the camp sites. It was too far away. Grass was green though.

Nice little park with a great interpretive center. Clean and neat campsites, restrooms & showers. Even though I was tent camping, my site had power & water. Windy in the afternoon but otherwise pleasant. No privacy as sites are close together. Nice walking trails and access to main highway.

Great quiet place to camp. Water & electric hookups in each rv space. Waste dump site. Walk to the river for fishing. Shade everywhere in common areas, sites are shaded depending on the time of the day. Very relaxing, just had a family reunion there for 4 days. We will definitely be coming back often !!

Stayed in site 2. Level site with water and electric. Gravel back in. Some shade. Sewer dump available. Nice state park museum about history of Oregon Trail. Be advised if you arrive before 2PM check in you will have to wait in the day use area. The museum is located there so we visited it while waiting for check in time. Several rigs waiting as well. Not a big deal. Would recommend and would stay again if in the area. Verizon service was good.

A beautiful and relaxing campground. Lots of birds, heard a barn owl in the tree above our tent, Osprey, King birds, Night Hawks, Swallows, Doves, Warblers, etc plus nice showers with bench option that folds up and down for accessibility and hooks for clothes.. Campsites have electricity and camp fire and picnic tables, very nice and comfortable camping. Some of the trees are close enough for hammocks so my son opted to sleep in a mosquito net covered hammock and said it was nice. The rest of us slept in our tents... Near the river but not accessible due to cliffs. Probably part of the reason there were so many cool birds.

This Idaho state park was a great place to camp. Very clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful, the campsites were clean with functioning hookups, the bathrooms and showers were clean and the History Center on property was done very well. All the employees were helpful and friendly. The city center of Glenn’s Ferry was walkable (approximately 2 miles) and was very nice with historical points along the way. I personally would recommend camping in the upper loop or the lower loop for the views of the Snake River, but both areas are very nice. Don’t pass up going to the History Center, it is bigger than I was expecting and I learned more than I thought I already knew about the Oregon Trail.

Paved RV sites with water electric only on the lower section, gravel sites for the upper area (better views though). The park staff are friendly and helpful. Nice trails, frisbee golf and Oregon trail info center.

Always fun and a great place for am early spring camping trip. Park is clean, the staff is friendly and the disc golf is top notch. Parkside 10 is the most fun for beginners, the entire course will challenge everyone.

We stayed one night on our travel back home. It’s a state of Idaho RV camping park. Well maintained. You can call make reservations in advance. Drive-in like we did, but you can only stay for one night.
