Torry Island Campground & Marina
Overview
Torry Island Campground & Marina offers a unique gateway to the natural beauty of South Florida. Located on the southeastern shores of Lake Okeechobee, this destination provides a serene escape for RVers looking to immerse themselves in a more authentic, rustic environment. The park is characterized by its proximity to the water and its role as a hub for outdoor recreation, making it a staple for those who appreciate the quiet charm of the Florida Everglades region.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Belle Glade, Florida, the campground is uniquely positioned on an actual island within the lake, accessible by a historic manual swing bridge. The surrounding landscape is defined by vast sugar cane fields and the expansive waters of the nation’s second-largest freshwater lake. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by lush wetlands and open skies, providing a peaceful backdrop that feels worlds away from the bustling coastal cities and tourist-heavy corridors.
Amenities & Park Features
The facility caters to modern travelers with a variety of essential features designed for comfort and convenience. Guests can enjoy full hookup RV sites that accommodate both 30 and 50-amp service. The park also provides:
- Large paved sites and well-maintained interior roads.
- A full-service marina with multiple boat ramps for easy water access.
- On-site laundry facilities, clean restrooms, and showers.
- Direct access to the 110-mile Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail.
The presence of an adjacent golf course and ample green spaces adds to the recreational value of the park.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw for many visitors is the world-class bass fishing that Lake Okeechobee is famous for. Anglers and boaters can spend days exploring the marshes and open water. For those who prefer land-based activities, the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST) offers miles of paved and gravel paths for hiking and cycling atop the herbivorous levee. Birdwatching is also a top-tier activity here, as the area serves as a habitat for diverse species, including Everglade Snail Kites and various herons.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for dedicated anglers and nature enthusiasts who prioritize access to the water over resort-style luxury. It is perfect for travelers seeking a quiet, Old Florida atmosphere where the focus is on the environment and outdoor hobbies. Whether you are a snowbird looking for a winter retreat or a weekend warrior chasing a trophy catch, this campground provides the space and facilities to support a focused, nature-centric RV experience.

Terrible customer service by the manager by the name of Cindy! Tried to make a reservation and she was very rude! Computer system is out date and she would not take new address and was very condescending! We have full timed for 5 years and have never dealt with someone like her! Would never stay there as long as she is employed there.

It's a very small town with not much to do but get your peace and quiet. Perfect little place. And very clean. Watch out for alligators!

Great experience, beautiful, well kept campsites. Bait and tackle shop is right next door as well as a boat ramp. Great for fishing. Caught bass, catfish and talopia. Will definitely go back. Oh, and plenty of gators.

We love this campground and will return again if we are ever in this area again. It fairly quiet in a beautiful setting with plenty of activities to enjoy. We could have done with a little less smoke from the sugar cane fields but it is what it is. Thank you so much for maintaining such a nice park.

My Family and I stayed a month this time. The park is great. Shower/restroom facilities were above average. There is no accounting for the lack of concern of some people no matter how nice you try to keep the facilities. At least, give this place a try. I promise you that most people, by far, will go way out of their way to come back here again. I went from 1 week last year, to 1 month this year, and am slated for 2 months next year. Look at the website and google earth and look at the endless outdoor activities that are available to you. I have camped all my life and I guarantee that you have never seen a place like this. Every time you turn around, they are feeding you again at no cost to you. Happy camping!

TIC has been a great place to stay this month. We've enjoyed the community events, fishing, walking/bike paths, golfing and the people We've met here as well. We've had mail/package delivery, large dog park, nice laundry room and new pickleball court. It's fairly quiet here with a random airboat. Great place for the money that fills quickly so call ahead.

Lovely campground set among the lagoons of Lake Okeechobee; full of RVs but with more of the old "campground" spirit - more spread between sites, more grass than asphalt, more actual trees (!) - than is typical in FL. Especially suited for airboat or other flat-hulled fishermen. Positive, friendly management is busily upgrading across the board. Haven't successfully addressed the problematic wifi yet, though, the only reason no fifth star. Big, huge positive: longer stays are less here than in other nearby parks - and not by a little. Lesser negative: the town of Belle Glade is not very attractive, though groceries, fast food and fuel are all available. Bright spot amidst that negative: Belle Glade's library is a refreshing thing of beauty, with excellent free wifi, and is only a few miles away.

Lots of paperwork to sign but we were rewarded with the warmth of our host and fellow campers, and the beauty of the location. Volunteers made dinner for all of us today. What a pleasant surprise. Thank you Cindy and thank you to the volunteers! This is a special place.
