Known for its warm hospitality and equestrian-centric facilities, the park provides a comfortable home base for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of northern Tennessee. Location & Surroundings

Situated in Jamestown, Tennessee, the park is positioned at the doorstep of the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The surroundings are defined by dramatic sandstone bluffs, lush hardwood forests, and hidden waterfalls. This rural setting provides a peaceful atmosphere for guests, yet the park remains conveniently close to the essentials found in downtown Jamestown, ensuring a balance between secluded nature and modern convenience.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features spacious full hookup RV sites designed to accommodate large trailers and living-quarter rigs. Equestrian visitors will appreciate the 60 custom-built horse stalls and the convenience of being able to ride directly from their campsite onto the trails. Additionally, the park offers clean private bathrooms, laundry facilities, and a charming mercantile stocked with western wear and unique gifts for a complete travel experience.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary attraction is the vast network of horse and hiking trails weaving through the Big South Fork. Guests can also venture to Pickett CCC Memorial State Park, famous for its dark skies and unique rock formations. History enthusiasts should not miss the Sergeant Alvin C. York State Historic Park, which honors the World War I hero. For water lovers, the local rivers provide plenty of space for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is a premier destination for equestrian travelers looking for specialized amenities and easy trail access. It is also an excellent choice for RVers who prefer a themed, community-focused environment over a standard highway stopover. When we arrived, around 2:30pm, there was no one around and the office was closed. A neighbor stopped by to inform us that the owners were out of town and their horses had just been seized for neglect two days before. We had already paid for our stay and had our site, so we stayed. Never did see the owners. Location is okay, you have to ride through the Spruce Creek area to get to other trails and there are signs up saying it's private. The campground looks neglected. Not mowed, manure bin overflowing. The actual layout and barns are nice, they just need to be maintained. Some of the sites are taken up by old trailers or farm equipment. The front barn has mats in the stalls, the back barn does not. Restrooms are in nice shape, clean with decent showers.

The property was very well-kept. The concierge service was great. Harold and Ron were so polite and helpful. The lodging was in great condition, clean and comfortable! I think the property is under new management after reading recent reviews which I think attributed to the great experience. Can’t wait to visit this location again.

Worst experience I have ever had. Stayed last weekend with a group but was placed separate and apart from my group. Manure wheel barrows all full, not enough of them. Organized ride that True West collected $50 for was the most disorganized ride for EVERYONE! ALL OF US WERE UNHAPPY. WORST of all is the manner in which Managers Heather and Tim have treated me. Accused me of escaping w/o paying balance when they never asked for it or charged me unbenownst to me until i left, giving me a quote for damage i did to a hitching post then not honoring the quote but DOUBLED IT. Being disrespectful, rude, treating me like a criminal. Honestly, this place is nothing but drama and chaos, if thats what you like. They are sugar sweet FAKE nice to your face. Horrible organizational and customer skills.

Very pleased with our six day stay at True West. The camp owners were absolutely amazing and wonderful. They were extremely attentive, helpful, friendly, and accommodating. I would venture to say that this campground is a “full service” campground. From checking in, to helping guests unload their horses, hay and tack into the barn, to picking out the trailer and so much more. The camp sights and grounds were very nice and well manicured. The bathhouses were extremely clean also. Tim and Heather are amazing hosts and we will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Extremely thrilled with our entire experience here. This campground offers extras you do not get anywhere else. Not only did they clean out the back of our horse trailer but also unloaded tack and hay. The campground was immaculate. If you leave anything behind, they have it including propane and soft serve ice cream! You couldn't meet better folks than the owners! We will definitely be back with even more friends!

Great place to park your horse trailer and ride. Come back after the ride, wash your horse and let them rest in a nice stall. Sit back and enjoy a few drinks overlooking the pond to get ready for the next day. Donna is a the most gracious host and will make sure you're needs are met. She makes the place and will make sure you have the best experience.

This place has the best hospitality around. If you need help just ask! It’s very well kept up. Stalls are clean, no trash lying around. They schedule events which are posted on there website or will send to you via email. It’s so quiet here too. Give them a try!
