Viney Creek
Overview
Viney Creek Recreation Area offers a tranquil escape situated on the scenic shores of Table Rock Lake. As a US Army Corps of Engineers park, it emphasizes the natural beauty of the Ozarks rather than commercial flash. Travelers will find a well-maintained campground that serves as a quiet base for exploring the southwestern corner of Missouri. It is a place where the sounds of the lake and the wind through the trees provide the primary soundtrack for your stay, offering a much-needed respite from the fast-paced lifestyle of modern travel.
Location & Surroundings
Located in Golden, MO, the park is nestled within a heavily timbered area that provides ample shade and privacy for many of its sites. The landscape is defined by the rugged limestone bluffs and the expansive blue waters of Table Rock Lake. Its secluded location ensures that traffic noise is minimal, allowing visitors to feel fully immersed in the lakeside environment. While it feels remote, the park is still within a reasonable drive of local supplies and services in the neighboring community of Shell Knob.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features several sites equipped with electric hookups, making it suitable for modern RVers who want some comforts of home. On-site facilities include the following features:
- A convenient boat ramp for easy water access
- A designated swimming beach and playground for children
- Clean restrooms and shower facilities
- Accessible dump station for RV waste management
The spacious site layouts are a major draw, providing a sense of openness and natural integration that is often missing in private parks.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Water activities dominate the itinerary here, from fishing for trophy bass to leisurely pontoon rides across the glass-like surface of the lake. Just a short drive away, travelers can visit Roaring River State Park, which is famous for its premier trout fishing and rugged hiking trails. For those seeking a bit of city excitement, the entertainment hub of Branson is within driving distance for a day trip. Closer to home, the surrounding Ozark hills provide excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and nature photography.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal fit for nature lovers and anglers who prefer a rustic, quiet environment over a busy commercial RV resort. It is perfect for families looking to spend their days on the water and their evenings around a crackling campfire. If your travel style favors scenic views and lakeside access without the need for high-speed internet or luxury clubhouses, Viney Creek provides the authentic outdoor experience you are looking for. It is best suited for those who appreciate the simplicity of COE parks.

Nice quiet place to camp fish swim or just picnic. You forgot something, there's Viney creek store just up the road. Great friendly people in a charming country setting. I love it.

Such a great place to fish and camp but the place needs some work the bathrooms were disgusting also I planned for two months to go and get the spot we wanted but the spot was unreservable so we arrived a day early to make sure to get the spot and behold there was a sign reserving the spot with no one in it! Was pretty upset about this! It's a great location but it needs some better supervision and some work!

Bathroom had feces all over the toilet, and the trash was so full it was falling on the ground. Last year there was a man patrolling the park and we felt safe. This year we didnt see a single park ranger for 2 days and by then we were packing up a day early to leave. They need someone working this site its normally a beautiful and clean place.

Viney Creek Recreation Area, a COE campground, has been operated for several seasons by Missouri Parks. Its a beautiful site with water views of Table Rock Lake on three sides. Located 20 minutes from Eureka Springs, AR, and 20 minutes from great trout fishing at Roaring River, VCRA needs maintenance funds and man hours as it appears neglected at times...

We have stayed here many times in the past few years. Usually we love this place! This year the park seems a bit run down. I believe the attendants need to be changed out. Maybe someone else would at least clean the bath houses, pick up trash and mow the grass. Last year the park was clean as a whistle!
