Virginia Beach KOA
Overview
The Virginia Beach KOA Holiday provides a lively, resort-style base for exploring the diverse landscapes of coastal Virginia. Known for its extensive family-friendly facilities, this park balances a traditional camping atmosphere with modern convenience. As a KOA Holiday destination, it serves as an active hub where guests can enjoy spacious RV sites alongside a variety of lodging options like deluxe cabins and primitive tent sites. The park is designed to feel like a self-contained vacation spot while keeping travelers connected to the shore.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just a few miles from the famous Atlantic Ocean coastline, the park offers a wooded retreat that feels tucked away from the coastal city's immediate hustle. It is conveniently positioned near General Booth Boulevard, providing easy access to local grocery stores and seafood restaurants. One of the most valued features of this location is the seasonal beach shuttle, which transports guests directly to the oceanfront, sparing them the difficulty of finding parking near the busy resort area during the peak summer months.
Amenities & Park Features
On-site recreation is a primary focus, featuring two swimming pools and a refreshing splash pad that is a favorite for children during the humid Virginia summers. Visitors can take advantage of the pocket park, giant jump pad, or rent golf carts to navigate the grounds with ease. For those traveling with four-legged companions, the park includes a dedicated KampK9 dog park. Additionally, the well-stocked camp store and clean laundry facilities ensure that long-term RVers have everything they need for a comfortable stay without leaving the property.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the three-mile Virginia Beach boardwalk, visitors can explore the natural beauty of First Landing State Park, where history and hiking trails meet. The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is just a short drive away, offering immersive exhibits for all ages. For those willing to drive further south, the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides a serene escape for birdwatching and kayaking, offering a stark and beautiful contrast to the high-energy atmosphere of the main beach front and its various amusement parks.
Who This Park Is Best For
This KOA is an excellent choice for active families looking for a vacation destination where children have constant access to organized activities and play areas. Its proximity to the beach and robust amenity list make it a premier choice for summer vacationers. It also highly suits big-rig travelers who require reliable full hookups and level sites while remaining close to the cultural attractions, military history, and maritime excursions that define the Virginia Beach experience.

Honestly couldn't really ask for a more pleasant stay. We stayed in the deluxe cabins and had multiple families in our group. If you are into glamping this is the place to do it. The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. It's also great the roads around the campground are paved so the kids could ride their scooters around. If I was forced to make a nitpick the bathroom door in the cabin did not have a lock. Kind of strange but maybe they had issues with kids locking themselves in or something? Otherwise we had a great time and will certainly be back. Only next time it will be in the warmer months so we can get a crack at that amazing looking pool.

I paid for a wood cabin in the woods. I was placed along a parking lot in which people kept going by pretty regularly. I wanted a serene trip to get away from everyone and I felt like I was on full display the whole time. The place was clean but I definitely wouldn’t come back here if you want the camping experience. Getting a cabin that’s marked as “woods” and then being placed in the open right along the parking lot felt like a huge waste of money to me. There was only one other couple that came the whole time we were there so we could’ve, at the very least, been placed in a back cabin so we wouldn’t be on full display the whole time. I’d look elsewhere moving forward and don’t plan on returning to this campground. Cabins do have good heat coverage tho.

We spent the night at the Virginia Beach KOA in one of their Deluxe Cabins, and it was such a great experience! The cabin was spotless, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious for my wife, baby, and me. Every staff member we met was friendly and accommodating, and you can really tell they care about making guests feel at home. There’s so much to do right on the campground, and even more nearby, you really don’t have to leave to have a good time.

My wife and I have stayed at many KOA campgrounds from Indiana and along the Eastern Coast. This is the overall nicest experiences we have had camping. The property is very well maintained with outstanding bathrooms/showers. We chose a site with concrete patio, fire pit and table and chairs. We were here during the Neptune Festival and used the trolley shuttle for the short ride to the Boardwalk. The dog park was centered with access from all sites. The staff we encountered were always pleasant. We will definitely make another trip here in the future.

This was our first time Tent Camping at this location. I was very much impressed with the facilities and activities at this location. The atmosphere was incredible and the customer service was good too. The tent lots were generally flat and grassy. Restrooms were abundant, nearby and clean. I wish I knew what type of firepit there was before coming as the ones on location are just simple rings (no cooking surfaces) for tent sites. Overall, great experience!

Great camping, cost less than the state park for non residents. Good showers and great laundromat. The sites are well kept. The bike path is just outside the park for Virginia's boardwalk!

This was our first camping trip with our new trailer. The front desk staff was very helpful through the whole process and the staff member who showed us to our campsite stayed until we were backed into our site and were good to go. I highly recommend the KOA campground in Virginia Beach!

Well kept facility with a lot of amenities and very friendly service. 2 miles to VA Beach boardwalk and Croatian Beach. We would probably not stay there again, especially in summer, because the campsites are too close together, offering absolutely no privacy. You can hear everything your neighbors are saying.

It was a wonderful experience for all of us ages 3 to 72. Plus at the end they asked us if we wanted to go through again and we did. The second time was different music and a whole different magical display. They also offered us a military discount. I would definitely recommend this light show. Shut off your front headlights, and Drive slowly.

My family and I stayed in a tent here for just over 30 days. The price was great for the entire month, and also the summer activities were amazing and kept my 3 kids very busy all summer. The staff working are amazing they were helpful and cared about everyone that stayed there. I would recommend staying for sure.
