Very nice campground! One of the few that were open at the time of year that we arrived. Although most everything was buried under snow and the temperature was below freezing, we found the host warm and welcoming. Nice showers too! I'd certainly camp here again but would plan on warmer days with nicer weather to do it! Thanks for the great stay! Matt:)

My wife and I stayed at this campground for our annual winter vacation, along with our daughter's family (3 children and husband). Our daughter's family was in the Hilltop Cabin. We made these reservations in Feb. 2025. Our experience was far less than acceptable. We were not informed, prior to our 300 mile journey, that the campground had water problems. A scheduled one day shut down of water due to a construction upgrade was advised after we arrived. However, the problem wasn't resolved as projected by 5:00. It wasn't until midday the following day. The communication was very poor as to when the water was to be back on. We were told that there would be an email or text sent to advise us that the issue was resolved. However, we had to call several times, due to being away from the facility. Once back on, the water went off again the following day due to another line break. We had planned to enjoy the outdoors grilling and having a fire. Instead, we spent time and money finding bathrooms and purchasing water to flush toilets. Additionally, we spent money eating out when we planned on cooking out. The frustration of this experience is hard to accept, since last year we stayed at the Lexington KOA with a very wonderful experience during their construction project. We were advised that a $20 credit would be issued. This was very insulting. I'm not going to state a fair value expected; however, this is not a situation you want future visitors to read as a review. It is surprising that Good Sam is associated with this facility. I will be forwarding this email to Good Sam.

I enjoyed our time at Walnut Hills. We stayed at site 321 right on the lake. This is a drive-in site, so if you want to back in then make sure to bring an extension for your power. We have a 15 ft cord and probably needed an additional 10 feet for us to back in. This site is right in front of the bathhouse, which was very nice for us since our RV was winterized during our stay. The bathhouse is fairly clean and it had hot water the entire stay, even during freezing temps. They pick up trash from our site every morning, which was nice because we didn’t have to walk it to the front. Didn’t get to utilize any of the amenities because we stayed during off season but we saw the pool and it looks to be a decent size. There are a lot ducks and geese in and around the pond. I enjoyed just sitting by the campfire and watching them. The only downside to the lake is that the bottom of it is very overgrown so it’s pretty hard to catch any fish. Other than that, it’s a little hidden gem of a campground. Oh, and our dogs loved the dog park. It’s on a hill so it was an extra work out for them!

We loved our stay! The campground is wonderful. Very clean. The bath houses are great. The sites are very level, we didn't have to do anything, just unhook. Great place for the family. They have a huge dog park next to the playground. They even have trash pickup. We will definitely go back. There ia a great game room for the kids and young at heart. The store is amazing! It has everything you need and more. Free coffee bar, great gifts and wood is delivered to your site. There are so many extras that make camping so much fun.

Overall, this campground is great. Bathrooms are very clean, the store has anything you might've forgotten, and there's plenty to do, including a short disc golf course, fishing pond, pool, playground, etc. Definitely family oriented, but still very very quiet at night. We did notice that the primitive tent sites may benefit from some sort of leveled tent pad, as well as a dedicated parking space so that a vehicle doesn't spin trying to get back on the pavement. Thankfully our site was extremely level, but most of the others are on an incline. We would camp here again, but would probably reserve the exact spot we wanted a bit reluctantly-it's an extra $25. Since campgrounds are a bit limited in this area we would definitely still do it as the amenities are worth it and it's very close to the city.

We Glamp/RV camp and have had yet another wonderful weekend with our friends and family at walnut hills. We have been visiting walnut hills for about 5-6 years, typically in the fall for Halloween, but have been even during spring break. There are many full hookup sites, but we typically choose the lack of sewer for space and ability to stay with our friends. The campground is well taken care of, as well as the amenities. The price has always stayed reasonable. The staff has always been sweet and helpful. All of this even when it’s changed hands a few times and renovations were on going. They have dredged the lake, and have been working on sewer connections for other parts of the campground over the past few years. Look forward to next fall’s stay and maybe a stay this spring. The local stores are well stocked and reasonably priced, and even downtown Staunton were nice day trips.

Shelby the receptionist was totally AWESOME! Was pleasantly surprised by her hospitality, knowledge of the area and generally caring attitude culminating in a great but short overnight adventure. I was also crazy happy about the FREE washers and dryers available for their visiting guests. I have NEVER encountered anything free in my five years of RVing! The Pickel Ball court and miniature golf also added to the allure of the park. This RV park is a MUST STAY!

What a beautiful place! We only stayed a night, but would definitely come back. Off I 81 in VA, but far enough into beautiful farm country that there is no highway noise at all. The sites are staggered and tiered up the hill, huge shade trees and lots of amenities! And the Dog park is what I wish all campground dog parks looked like, large enough for a good romp & run with shade trees to sniff around!

Only stayed one night, very lovely well cared for park. Looks like and enjoyable stay for any type of camping. Great for everyone, families with children to retired adults.

We just stopped through for one night, but enjoyed our stay. The campsites were spacious and the playground was nice. The bathrooms/showers could use some updating, but they were clean. We stayed along the creek and the kids loved watching and feeding all the ducks! The grass was overgrown, which made it quite buggy, but overall it was a great stay.
