White's City Carlsbad Caverns RV Park
Overview
White's City Carlsbad Caverns RV Park serves as the ultimate gateway for those exploring the wonders of the underground. Located just outside the boundary of the national park, it offers a functional and straightforward stay for travelers. The park provides a convenient base camp for visitors who want to be the first in line for cave tours. While the setting is rugged, the ease of access to local services makes it a reliable choice for desert adventurers.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the small community of Whites City, New Mexico, the park is positioned at the junction of Highway 62/180 and the entrance road to the caverns. The landscape is defined by the stark beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert, featuring limestone outcrops and desert scrub. Staying here means you are minutes from the visitor center, saving significant drive time compared to staying in the city of Carlsbad or nearby towns.
Amenities & Park Features
The park offers standard accommodations designed for self-contained travelers. Guests can expect essential utilities and features including:
- Full hookup sites with 30 and 50-amp electrical service.
- Spacious sites designed for big-rig travelers.
- On-site laundry facilities and shower houses.
Because the park is part of a larger complex, visitors are within walking distance of a convenience store, a local cafe, and a gas station for all their travel needs.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary draw is Carlsbad Caverns National Park, where guests can explore the massive Big Room or witness the evening bat flight. Beyond the caves, the park is a short drive from Guadalupe Mountains National Park in Texas, offering world-class hiking and the highest peak in the state. For a change of pace, the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park in nearby Carlsbad provides a fascinating look at regional wildlife and flora.
Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for national park enthusiasts who prioritize proximity and efficiency over resort-style luxuries. It is perfectly suited for those on a multi-park road trip who need a reliable place to park between excursions. While the environment is minimalist, its unbeatable location makes it the top choice for travelers who want to spend their time exploring the depths of the earth rather than commuting from a distant city.

This is a fantastic place to stay at. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend staying here. The spots at the rv park have full hook up and are nice.

Male clerk at registration center was very unfriendly, campground office and registration office location is complicated. Restrooms , showers had spiders and webs and was dirty and had not been cleaned. There are no trash cans or dumpsters. In the park , the only trash can I found was in a restroom. It would be better to go into carlsbad to find another campground.

Location is great. We are traveling with a tent. Tent area is overgrown with weeds. Bathrooms have not been cleaned in quite awhile, I still Felt dirty after using the shower. No beer sold at the store. Stay in Carlsbad.

The good is: close to the caves and full hook ups. The bad is: run down, under staffed, disgusting bathroom, no AC in the laundry room but the prices are good but the place was dirty. The showers were big ridden and again needs some repairs and rust removal. It was usable, just a bit lip curling.

We stayed at the campground. The location is wonderful! However, the site was nothing special and the bathrooms are the absolute worse I have ever seen. The women's room had no real lock on the door. It was one room with a wet floor with a layer of mud from the outside sitting on it. The shower was a hole in the middle of the muddy floor. There was no soap and no paper towels and no one cleaned it during our 4 night stay.

Rented a gravel RV spot for two nights so we could access Carlsbad cavern. Should have read the reviews prior to booking. We would have stayed in Carlsbad and made the longer drive. Yes, water and sewer hookup, but that's it. Garbage dumpster is overflowing and about 100 yds away. Picnic tables should be in a rest home, as they are on their last legs. We hear the banging others have noted, it's from the flagpoles across the street. Pay the extra money and get away from the road and in on a concrete slab next to the bathroom and showers!

Very convenient to the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns. Lots of maneuvering room. the office to check in is in the store on the left before you get to the trailer park. Very unique gift store and convenience store. I have already recommended this place to a couple of my friends that have not been to Carlsbad Caverns yet

We stayed here for a single location to visit Carlsbad Caverns and Guadeloupe Mountains NP. There are two sections. A typical RV park area down the hill and about 10 back-in sites up along the road. Seems the larger units were parked up on the top. It is a gravel lay-by with pedestals for each site. Full Hook-ups. No cable we were aware of. Wifi was spotty, as I could not stay connected. Water was good, we always use a regulator anyway. Electricity seemed a little low on voltage, but maybe we are just over sensitive. It definitely was down when all the rigs had all their ACs running in the afternoon. Let me be honest, this is no fancy set up, it's functional. There were old picnic tables. Sites are pretty close. Plenty of parking room and maneuver room. We had a wonderful experience with the staff. They were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Not sure who the other reviewers dealt with, but we had a good experience with the staff. It is just outside the gate to Carlsbad Caverns and about 30 miles to Guadeloupe Mountains NP. As we were hiking and touring, we really did not care about anything to do at the park. It was all about location and a plug for us, and this fit that bill. After driving past a few other parks in the area, none of them seemed that much better to sacrifice the proximity to the parks this one offers.

Very convenient to Carlsbad Caverns. The best thing I can say about the bathrooms is that they have nice water pressure. The larger of the 2 bathhouses does not have a lock and the shower is just a small wall away from the front door. Always take your water shoes!!!!

One shower for men in a single hole restroom, same for women. This is for all campsites. No fire rings. TIGHT spaces. Dirt pads and grounds. No trees. Only positive is proximity to Carlsbad Caverns and hot water in the shower. OK for a quick stop. No where to eat or buy groceries in town. Town is closed and boarded up. Lots of feral cats.
