Wildwood Park (Columbia County Park)
Overview
Wildwood Park is a sprawling 750-acre destination located on the beautiful shores of Clarks Hill Lake, also known as Lake Thurmond. As one of the most popular parks in Columbia County, it offers a refreshing escape into the Georgia wilderness. The park balances a quiet, natural atmosphere with the excitement of world-class recreation, making it a standout choice for RV travelers who appreciate scenic waterfront views and well-maintained public facilities for a comfortable stay.
Location & Surroundings
Nestled in the town of Appling, Georgia, the park is surrounded by dense forests and the vast expanse of one of the largest reservoirs in the Southeast. The wooded campsites offer a sense of privacy and a close connection to the local ecosystem. Its location provides a perfect balance, tucked away from the noise of the city while remaining within a short drive of the amenities and services found in the greater Augusta area, ensuring travelers have everything they need nearby.
Amenities & Park Features
RVers will find level campsites equipped with 30 and 50-amp electrical service along with water hookups. The park is specifically designed to handle the needs of boaters, featuring six lanes of mega-ramps and a large parking area for trailers. Guests have access to modern restrooms, hot showers, and a dedicated dump station. Furthermore, the park is home to several championship disc golf courses, making it a hub for competitive and casual play alike throughout the year.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
The primary attraction is undoubtedly the lake, where visitors can enjoy top-tier bass fishing, swimming, and kayaking. A unique feature of this location is the International Disc Golf Center, which houses a museum and three world-class courses right on the park grounds. For a change of pace, the nearby Mistletoe State Park offers additional hiking trails, while the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area provides a glimpse into the region’s industrial history and scenic waterway tours.
Who This Park Is Best For
Wildwood Park is a premier choice for outdoor adventurers and tournament anglers seeking a functional and beautiful base camp. It is particularly well-suited for families who enjoy water sports and travelers who prioritize a tranquil, natural environment over the commercial feel of private RV resorts. If you are looking for a place where you can launch a boat at sunrise and relax under the pines at sunset, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

I enjoy the campground and all the beauty of the park....Wouldn't it be nice to have coin operated washers/dryers as well as ice machines...would make it so much more convenient for those of us who like to camp for extended periods...the expense of having these luxuries would be repaid quickly.. Thank you

Went there to keep the feast of Tabernacles. Did primintive tent camping among big Rv's and still enjoyed. Super clean restroom/bath house. All camp sites have water/electric hook ups, picnic table and fire pit. Bring your own wood. The fish are jumping. I will be back again... Yah willing.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wildwood Park is an absolute gem! The RV camping here is top-notch with spacious sites, clean grounds, and beautiful scenery. It’s the perfect mix of peace and relaxation with plenty of outdoor activities nearby. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about keeping the park well-maintained. Whether you’re looking to unwind or explore, Wildwood Park has something for everyone. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great RV camping experience!

Absolutely loved this place. The only downfall was when we arrived, the bath house for our campsite was out of order . We had to drive to the large boat ramp to use the restroom and to another campsite to shower. It was finally fixed the last day we were there. Other than that, the water was clear enough to see my feet about a foot or so out. It was quiet all the time. Loved the picnic area. There was plenty of shade for my family and I to enjoy. Next time, I hope we have a camper instead of just tents.

I camped one night with my family (site 84) it's a primitive site and cost 15 dollars. Its located right by the park, beach, horeshoes, volleyball and most importantly bathrooms. We spent the day hiking, laying and grilling our favorite campfire foods. This place is safe, clean and I highly recommend. I had the primitive site because I was only staying one night however if I would have gotten the one with electricity it would have been $22 you cannot beat the price location or the cleanliness of the park which is well maintained. I also want to point out that Sam came by and made sure he cleaned up around the fire so there was no issues.

Nice boat ramp and fishing piers. We only caught an Itty bitty, bit others caught nice sized bass. Will definitely return to fish in other areas. Bathrooms were clean and nearby pavilion was useful.

Enjoyed our 2 day stay! Highly recommend anyone looking for a quiet get away this is the place. Tents were super clean, and the A/C was great (actually got cold at night). Daughter loved the playground and also had a chance to enjoy the lake and water toys. Will be coming back for sure.

Great Campground, especially Area 2. The camp hosts are awesome. The sites are well maintained. The bathrooms are very clean and you're walking distance to 3 of the best Disc Golf Courses in the country and the Home of the International Disc Golf Center. One of my favorite places ever.
