Williamsburg RV Campground Thousand Trails

Overview

Williamsburg RV Campground offers a serene, wooded retreat located in the heart of Virginia’s historic triangle. As part of the Thousand Trails network, this park combines a natural forest setting with the convenience of modern resort amenities. Visitors are greeted by towering trees that provide ample shade for the various campsites, creating a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city while remaining just minutes from major historical landmarks.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just northwest of downtown Williamsburg, the park is tucked away in a quiet area characterized by lush greenery and rolling landscapes. The surrounding region is famous for its preservation of American history, featuring scenic byways and proximity to the Chickahominy River. Travelers will find easy access to local shopping and dining in the nearby Lightfoot area, ensuring that while the campground feels secluded, essential supplies and local flavors are always within reach.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility is well-equipped to handle various RV sizes, offering full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp service. Families often congregate at the large swimming pool during summer months or enjoy friendly competition on the mini-golf course. Other notable features include a spacious clubhouse, multiple playgrounds, and tennis courts. For practical needs, the park provides clean bathhouse facilities and laundry stations, making it a comfortable choice for those planning an extended stay in the Virginia countryside.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw of this location is its proximity to the Historic Triangle. Guests are a short drive from Colonial Williamsburg, where history comes to life through live reenactments and preserved architecture. Thrill-seekers will appreciate the quick commute to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, while history buffs can explore the archaeological sites at Jamestown and the battlefields of Yorktown. The area also offers excellent outlet shopping and several local wineries and craft breweries for a more relaxed afternoon.

Lots of trees! We have a large rig with two vehicles and were given a site that could not fit both of our vehicles due to the trees. The neighbors sewage line was also too close for comfort. There were larger sites around and feel like they should prioritize them for the larger rigs with two vehicles. The roads are also narrow which makes it tricky as it is. The location of this park was great, we felt like we were 15 minutes from everything. The outdoor pool was nice, there was an arcade game room and the activities over the weekend were fun, we enjoyed candy bar bingo. The building is old, indoor pool area is very hot, old smelling and some of the grounds appear rundown. The pickleball/basketball court needs updating. There is no dog park here, yet there is a large open area near the front of the park.

Our site, A3, was large, but it was not level. The roads in the park are narrow. The bathrooms are old but very clean. The pool area is very nice and the game room is very nice.

We always enjoy our visits to this campground. Close enough to home to visit for a weekend. The outside pool is big, and kids love it. The inside pool and hot tub are both very refreshing. Staff is very friendly.

We love this campground. The staff are all so sweet and helpful. They do so many fun events and it has a great community feel. The location is really convenient and the property is beautiful with all the trees. We highly recommend!

This place is good, could be better. We have stayed several times. They usually have tractor rides and snacks for the kiddos which is great. They do not clean up alot of the amenities until early summer so much of it looks run down in the spring. Many if the sites are very unlevel being dirt and roots, leaving leveling your rig a challenge. The club house could us some re modeling, looks like it's been 35 years. Most of the staff is courtesy and helpful being flexable. The helped my piece together two different stays that were missing days available. So good, could be better.

We were nervous about coming here as we heard that it was not good. However, we have found a great campsite and basically had a wonderful fall/Halloween trip. A beautiful and welcoming lounge, clubhouse, arcade, indoor pool and patio. They went all out for Halloween events and the kids had a blast. We had a great, level site and loved the little touches like a popcorn machine and warm coffee in the morning. PLEASE don't stop those small things- they make the kids and adults so welcomed. The only complaint we had (more like a wondering) was why was the gate up/opened the whole time? And people drove usually too fast. Other than that, it was a great 3 week stay. The weekend events were well done and bathrooms old, but clean. Keep it up!

Indoor pool for the kids is a hit! Certainly not a posh lux resort, but it's cute community feel is welcoming!! Just missed the Halloween festivities but looks like they had a blast!

What a wonderful campground. We are here all week but I had to share my review now because seeing some of these other reviews is very deceiving. We have done so many activities including kids karaoke, dance party and used both of their swimming pools. The staff is so nice and helpful and they really take pride in their campground. The site we have was a pull through site, which made for easy in. We did have to level it out a little but not a much as other reviews are reporting. The sites are perfect sized, we have seen tight sites and this is not tight at all. We are having such a great time but I felt the need to share my review now because we are enjoying ourselves so much.
