Wolf Creek Park
Overview
Wolf Creek Park is a premier destination for those seeking a lakeside retreat on the scenic shores of Lake Livingston. Managed by the Trinity River Authority, this park provides a well-maintained environment where nature takes center stage. It serves as a peaceful escape for RVers looking to reconnect with the outdoors without sacrificing essential modern conveniences. The park is characterized by its towering pine trees and spacious layout, offering a quintessential East Texas camping experience that balances outdoor recreation with genuine relaxation.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just outside of Coldspring, Texas, the park occupies a prime location on the southwest side of one of the state's largest and most popular reservoirs. The landscape is dominated by the lush greenery of the Sam Houston National Forest, which borders the area and provides a dense canopy of shade for most campsites. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by tranquil water views and local wildlife, making it a perfect spot for birdwatching or simply enjoying the sunset over the Trinity River Authority managed waters.
Amenities & Park Features
The facility caters to RVers with a variety of site options, including many that offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp service to accommodate various rig types. Guests have access to clean restrooms, hot showers, and convenient laundry facilities to make long-term stays more comfortable. For recreation, the park features multiple private boat ramps, several fishing piers, and a dedicated swimming area for hot summer days. The paved roads and level pads make navigating the grounds easy for larger rigs, while the picnic areas and playgrounds provide ample space for family gatherings.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park boundaries, the historic town of Coldspring offers a charming glimpse into local Texas culture with its unique shops and local dining options. Nature enthusiasts can explore the extensive trail systems within the San Jacinto County area or spend the day boating and jet skiing on the expansive lake. Fishing is a major draw here, with anglers frequently catching bass, catfish, and crappie right from the shore. For a quiet afternoon, the nearby Double Lake Recreation Area offers additional hiking and mountain biking opportunities through the heart of the forest.
Who This Park Is Best For
Wolf Creek Park is an ideal match for families and retirees who appreciate a quiet, nature-oriented atmosphere over a high-traffic commercial resort environment. It is particularly well-suited for waterfront enthusiasts who want immediate access to lake activities like kayaking or fishing. If you prefer a site with plenty of space between neighbors and a natural canopy of trees overhead, this park fits your travel style perfectly. It is a top choice for those looking to experience the natural beauty and serenity of the Texas Piney Woods.

Hidden gem on Lake Livingston. This park is always clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The RV sites are well planned and are nicely spaced away from each other.

Great park. Family friendly. Super nice people in the camp store. Lots of option if you forgot something.

Amazing park with great views. It was kind of tricky to get there but once at the park I forgot the road. This park is great for camping with spots for tents and rvs. Not huge but decent size. Includes a children play area and a small convenience store. Officer at the entrance was very nice and professional. The views of the lake are amazing.

Came here with my family today, it was easy to navigate and it was cool that they had a place where you could order pizza and they make it there and you can go pick it up It costs $5 a person and well worth it just for the abundance of restrooms and how clean everything was The swimming area is what we came for, and it was warm water but still very refreshing in its way

The camp grounds was perfect. I went this past weekend with friends and family. We had a blast, it was fun. The staff is very friendly and attentive every day with the trash. The swimming area is great for kids.

Campsite is quiet, well-laid out and the woman that took my reservation over the phone was friendly and helpful. The views over the lake are amazing-beautiful sunrises, and the full moon rose over the lake the night before which was lovely. There is a swimming area and playground too. Restrooms are very clean!

Clean restrooms and showers. Great place to relax with the family, go for a walk, ride bikes or build a small fire. Nice for RV, tents, Fishing, boating, or just relax for the day. Day pass available. Reservation are made online. Lights out by 10pm, all dogs on leash, no loud music, clean up after yourself and pets. Pets are welcome but they can't go in certain areas, must be on leash, must clean up after them. It's very nice and quiet place, everyone respects each other. You can only burn wood no trash and if you use the pits you need to clean before you go.

Beautiful place. Very relaxing. Bathroom is clean although shower temperature is not adjustable. It gets very hot after a little while. A lot of ants. Luckily my wife researched before we go. We kinda prepared it in advance. Still a great place to go.
