Wolfeboro Campground

Overview

Wolfeboro Campground provides a serene escape into the New Hampshire woods, blending the nostalgia of traditional camping with modern convenience. Known as a quiet retreat, this park offers a wooded sanctuary for those looking to explore the Lakes Region. Guests often comment on the tall pines and the crisp air that define the experience of staying in the Oldest Summer Resort in America. It is a place where the pace of life slows down to match the natural surroundings.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away just two miles from the bustling town center, the campground offers a perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. The surrounding area is characterized by the scenic beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee and rolling hills. Because the park is nestled within a mature forest, visitors enjoy natural shade and a sense of privacy that is often missing in more open, commercialized RV parks found throughout the region.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped to handle various camping styles, offering full-service RV sites with 30 and 50-amp hookups. For those with larger motorhomes, the spacious pull-through sites simplify the setup process. On-site facilities include a clean bathhouse, a laundry room, and a playground for children. Each site is furnished with a private fire ring and picnic table, encouraging evening gatherings and traditional campfire cooking under the New Hampshire stars.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Staying here puts you minutes away from the Cotton Valley Rail Trail, a popular spot for cycling and scenic walks along the old railroad corridor. History enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to the Wright Museum of World War II, while water lovers can spend days at nearby Wentworth State Park. The charming downtown area offers unique boutiques, local galleries, and waterfront dining options that perfectly capture the essence of New England summer life.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is an excellent choice for nature lovers who prefer a rustic, quiet environment over a high-activity resort. It is ideal for families wanting an unplugged experience where the focus is on hiking, biking, and lakeside fun. Because of its proximity to town, it also suits travelers who want a peaceful home base while remaining close to the cultural and culinary highlights of the Wolfeboro community.

Quiet wooded sites. We had #29 with full hook ups. Warren was a pleasure to work with. Nothing fancy, but everything we needed at a reasonable price.

In the age of fancy rv resorts this campground is a refreshing throwback to what made camping popular. It is a rustic forested no frills quiet secret hideaway for us. No pool, no playground, no dog park, just well kept shaded sites at an affordable price. On the quiet side of Lake Winnipesaukee there are natural places to swim and fish anyway. Not suitable for big rigs, probably 30 ft or less only. Nice tent sites too. Resembles your typical state park primitive campground. With the cost of resorts where you pay more for things you don't need, staying here allows us to enjoy New Hampshire more when otherwise we would just shorten our stay. That is why we love Wolfeboro campground.

We stayed 5 days and had fun every single day we spent here. The tenting areas are kept so clean and the ambiance is absolutely stunning. It’s nice and quiet, off the main road enough that there is no sound but you are still close enough to what is available. Living in the area for nearly 20 years was enough for us to camp here and now we wish we had known it was here before we moved away!!!! The only thing I would warn about is the bugs and need for bug spray, as well as having change on hand for showers. Otherwise it was genuinely such a great time!

This place was so peaceful and quiet. Other than some rain we had a great time. Great restrooms and showers, nice and clean. Can't wait to go back.

Such an awesome, quiet campground. Warren the owner is the best! The bathrooms were impeccably clean, as well as the grounds. This is a place for adults, as not a lot of kid activities. Loved it. Thank you Warren!

Great campground near to a lot of things to do. Very clean and quiet. Good spaces between sites and Warren the owner very pleasant. If you don't mind a place with no frills this is the place. Our first time but will def be back.

My kind of good old fashioned camping minus the hoopla. Beautiful sites and a super friendly owner. Will definitely be back. All hookups worked great.

This is actual camping, very wooded, quiet, and fairly small which is what we prefer. There weren't a bunch of loud kids running or screaming. You're not crammed in, privacy between sites. We experienced a very light amount of mosquitoes in general, plus candles can help w/that. Very long trails on property to let dogs go, plus no breed restrictions. We absolutely loved the owner Warren, very personable and cared about our comfort or needs. Wifi most of the time was good, TV signal not so much. You're very close to downtown Wolfeboro. This is true camping. If you're bringing bikes or kayaks you'll have to take them to a destination for use. Will definitely come back.

Gem of a campground and a great value in a high tourism area. Incredibly peaceful and quiet with large, private sites surrounded by pines. Stayed for two weeks in a 25' class A and had tons of room for our dog to roam on a 30' lead. Great little hiking trail about a mile into the woods on property, too. Quick drive to town beaches, state park trails and just a few minutes into Wolfeboro center. Owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Can't beat the $4 wagon of firewood, either. Really strong wifi too - 2 of us streaming video calls at the same without a hitch. Would definitely return here time and again.
