Yosemite/Bridalveil Creek
Overview
Bridalveil Creek Campground offers a unique, high-elevation escape located well above the busy Yosemite Valley floor. Situated at approximately 7,200 feet, this seasonal campground provides a cooler, more secluded atmosphere for RVers looking to escape the summer heat. Because it is located off Glacier Point Road, it serves as a perfect base for those who want to experience the park's dramatic overlooks without the constant bustle of the main tourist hubs. It represents the quintessential high-country camping experience in the Sierras.
Location & Surroundings
The park is nestled within a lush lodgepole pine forest, providing ample shade and a true wilderness feel. Its position in the high country means it is often one of the last campgrounds to open each season due to snowpack on the access roads. The surrounding terrain is characterized by rolling hills and the gentle flow of Bridalveil Creek, which meanders near the campsites, creating a tranquil soundscape for campers throughout the summer months while providing a sense of deep immersion in nature.
Amenities & Park Features
This is primarily a dry camping destination, meaning there are no hookups or dump stations available on-site for RV travelers. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, a fire ring, and a heavy-duty bear locker, which is mandatory for all food storage to protect local wildlife. While amenities are rustic, you will find potable water and vault toilets conveniently located throughout the loops. It is important to note that RV lengths are generally limited to 35 feet, making it best suited for smaller rigs and camper vans.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Staying here places you just a short drive from the iconic Glacier Point overlook, which offers world-famous views of Half Dome and the Yosemite Valley. Hikers will appreciate easy access to the Taft Point and Sentinel Dome trailheads, where you can walk along the rim of the canyon for breathtaking vistas. For those who enjoy water, the creek itself provides peaceful spots for wading or simply relaxing by the granite-strewn banks, offering a quiet alternative to the park's busier river spots.
Who This Park Is Best For
This campground is ideal for self-contained RVers who value peace and quiet over modern luxury amenities. It is a fantastic choice for photographers and hikers who want to beat the crowds to the Glacier Point area for sunrise or sunset. If you prefer a primitive camping experience surrounded by deep woods and starry skies, Bridalveil Creek offers a refreshing and authentic alternative to the more developed and crowded areas of the national park.

Good campground! Really nice launchpad for exploring Glacier Point area. No showers, but chill vibe. Well kept. Flush toilets (great, but limit the season up here).

About 20min away from Glacier Point. Clean restroom with flash toilet. Plenty of toilet paper. Drinkable water also available. Various campsite sizes; some are good for 2 cars and tents; others are one vehicle and one tent only. Temperature drops significantly over night because of the 6000ft elevation. Camp fire allowed but need to be monitored at all times. No cellular reception ( ATT and Tmobile)

This was our first time staying here, and we loved it. Rangers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Bear lockers are very big, and the campground is very clean. It is a great location if you don't want to stay in the valley. We will definitely be staying here again.

The sites are pretty. Some are surrounded by granite boulders and trees but some are close together and can get noise. Great campground as a base to explore Yosemite valley, Mariposa grove and Glacier point.

Great spot. Don't bother with your phones, there is zero reception and that's part of why we come here. Don't expect to shower here. Toilets are functional at best. They're maintained but we brought our own rolls, you probably should as well.

We had an amazing time camping at this campground. The rangers were attentive and educational without being overbearing or repetitive. The bear boxes are incredibly spacious and easy to use. Our site and fire pit was well maintained and clean when we arrived. We will be back to camp again soon!

A great place to camp

The parking lot is small. It is impossible to have 2 big cars to park in a single site. Everything else is pretty good.

Yosemite Awesome best spot. We saw three small lights at 2AM that warmed up in the trees then jumped to a vertical formation on the edge of the round clearing and left Earth at the speed of light. Camp Site number 10. Earth is on their bucket list. We do not smoke or drink anything.

The best campground in Yosemite, though it's remote with no accessible resources. The valley and Wowona are over 45 minutes away; the nearest ranger station at Glacier Point is 20 minutes away. We're talking remote--and high, at an elevation around 7,200 feet. The days in mid summer are slightly warm, the nights are freezing (even in July). The bathrooms have no showers because there are no water heaters. The water is filtered from the creek and is frigid--and delicious. Several beautiful trails are an easy walk from the campground, and the A Loop (the only one that allows pets) is right beside the meadow, where you often see deer, coyotes or even the occasional bear if you get up early enough. I've been camping here since I was 2 years old (literally). I'll be 60 this year, and this is still my campsite of choice, mainly for its remoteness. Also, the valley can get Godawful hot, and that doesn't happen at this altitude. If you come in September, blueberry bushes beside all the creeks are covered with ripe berries.
