Yough Lake - COE/Tub Run Campground

Overview

Tub Run Campground offers a serene lakeside escape managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Youghiogheny River Lake. Spanning the border of Pennsylvania and Maryland, this facility provides a peaceful environment where the focus remains on the natural landscape. The park is defined by its mountainous backdrop and deep, clear waters, making it a staple for those seeking a traditional outdoor experience.

Location & Surroundings

Located just outside Confluence, PA, the campground sits within the rugged beauty of the Laurel Highlands. The surrounding area is characterized by dense hardwood forests and the unique triple confluence of local waterways. Because the park is perched along the shoreline of Youghiogheny River Lake, visitors are treated to refreshing breezes and scenic vistas that change dramatically with the seasons.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features nearly 100 campsites, many of which provide electric hookups for RV travelers. Essential facilities include a dump station, hot showers, and a playground for families. One of the most significant draws is the direct boat launch access, allowing campers to easily transition from their site to the water. The sites are generally well-shaded, offering privacy and a cool canopy during the summer months.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

  • Experience the Great Allegheny Passage, a premier rail-trail for cycling located just minutes away.
  • Explore Ohiopyle State Park for its famous whitewater rafting and dramatic waterfalls.
  • Visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, a world-renowned architectural landmark a short drive from the lake.
  • Spend the day fishing for smallmouth bass and walleye in the well-stocked lake waters.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for boaters and anglers who want convenient lake access without the noise of a commercial resort. It also serves as a perfect basecamp for cyclists and hikers exploring the Laurel Highlands. If you prefer a rustic, quiet atmosphere where the sound of the wind through the trees replaces highway noise, Tub Run is a fantastic choice for your next RV trip.

Beautiful well kept campgrounds. My husband and I will definitely camp with them again!

Loved our stay at this campground! Our site was tucked away near the creek and it was lovely to wake up to the running water. The site was quiet and private, though if the tent sites were full it wouldn't have felt as private. Bathrooms were very clean and there is a camp sink but no spigots for potable water. We loved the vending machine and camp shop - well stocked and so clever! The lake seemed a bit low but we didn't go in for a swim. Really easy and pretty drive to Ohiopyle.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campground! So yes the STATE road leading to the campsite it quite rough, but the campground can't do anything about that. The state of PA has to fix that. Anyway - once you get there the roads are very smooth, the seasonal campers are super friendly it's like they were our neighbors. The paths to the bathrooms were easy to get to. We will return! Lovely place!

Nice camp ground and location between Ohiopyle and confluence, nice beach area and an area to put in your boat if you have one. Showers have hot water! Just a little too hot sometimes. We stayed in one of the cabins which was very nice and clean.

Beautiful campground tucked away in a valley of the Laurel Highlands! We stayed at the creek side loop and loved sitting around the site listening to the water in the nearby creek. We brought our pup and he loved going on walks around the campground and meeting the other doggos staying there. Sites have full hookups that were in great condition and the entrance station has firewood, ice, and other miscellaneous items you may need during your stay. Staff was very friendly too. We will return for another stay!

I'm not sure my experience at this campground was typical because we were there during the week just two weeks before they closed for the season. Quite by accident, the weather was absolutely perfect but, as it was very near the end of the season, nobody else had scheduled weekday camping. We were there almost completely alone for most of the time and it was truly wonderful. The property started out as a federal property and is leased to a private operator now, so it feels very much like the state parks we prefer. That, coupled with the extra attention that you get from a private operator, made this a really great place to do a late fall vacation.

We were able to rent a boat slip for the weekend, enjoyed their beach area and their bathhouse was very clean. I would give them 5 stars but the full hookup area is tight. They seemed really packed in there.

Awesome place to get away and relax! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Cabin was spotless/clean. Roving security at night keeps everyone in check. This place is right on the water with a private boat launch for its campers! These folks work hard to keep things nice and ensure their guests enjoy their time. Very reasonable pricing as well.
